Chapter 28Kyle tapped the icon on his phone, disconnecting the call.
“Was that your sister?” April asked. This was one of the rare days they both had off, and they had just sat down to a cup of after-dinner coffee when his phone had rung.
“That was Madeline, Cherrie’s neighbor. Sonny showed up.”
“Oh God. Is Cherrie all right?”
“She’s shaken, but physically, she’s fine. Sonny, on the other hand…” The dog had done a number on him, and from what Madeline had learned, Sonny’s d**k had been pretty much shredded and his balls empty sacs. His brother-in-law no longer had a chance of being a daddy. Dodger had done his job, his handler had dealt with the police, and now they were both on their way back to Phoenix. “Madeline will take her to Ojai to get the new dog in a couple of days.”
