Aelissm laughed again. “Six years, and they still won’t let me live that one down. But that’s all right. Let’s me know I’m loved, because if they didn’t love me—”
“We wouldn’t waste the time and energy to tease you.”
Skye snapped a picture of the two friends with their arms around each other’s shoulders and smiles that spoke of a lifetime of friendship. “So, when are you due?”
“Middle of October. June’s a week ahead of me, though.” Aelissm’s gaze softened when she smiled at June. “The journey hasn’t exactly been what we expected, but somehow we’ve still managed to get to where we always wanted to be. Raising our families together here in Northstar, surrounded by mountains, fresh air, and—best of all—great people.”
