When You Assume...

Jasinda knew she didn't handle the news that Leo had once upon a time been in jail. But it hadn't been that long since he'd gotten out, literally days, and she had no idea why he'd been in, in the first place.  She immediately got her brother on the phone and yelled at him for bringing a felon to her door. "He could be some psycho murder r****t and you just let him come here!" Walking in the woods late in the evening, Jasinda sat on a huge bolder over looking the small patch of woods and listened to Malcolm try to handle her.  "I would NEVER put you in harms way and Leo's a good guy!" Jasinda c****d an eyebrow, "Than why was he in prison? Good guys don't go to jail." Malcolm shook his head, he couldn't tell his sister why Leo had went to jail. Not yet anyway... But he knew his friend wouldn't hurt his little sister.  "Come on sis, he didn't go in for anything vile, crude, or evil. He was just...in the wrong place at the wrong time yeah?"  Jasinda pushed her curls out of her face, her chocolate brown skin shimmering in the golden sunset peeking through the tall pine trees. "No! No I don't like this Malcolm, first you spring this stranger on me, and now here I found out he's some gang member? Get him the f**k out of here!"  Malcolm groaned as he fought banging his head on the wall, "Sis the whole world is at a stand still right now, I don't have the means to bring him here, and travel on a plane has been reduced to emergencies only."  Jasinda exhaled and Malcolm ran a hand over his uncut hair. "Look, I know this ain't ideal, but do this for me. Please, I'll owe you MAJOR." Jasinda slowly nodded and looked at the cabin, "Yeah you do, and if this man murder me I swear to God I'm coming back and I will haunt the s**t out of you."  Malcolm laughed amused, "Oh I believe you can be just as worrisome in death as you are in life."  Jasinda said nothing and instead hung up the phone. Going back to the cabin, she didn't see Leo when she walked in and assumed he was in his room. But when she called him for dinner he didn't come down.  Walking into his room, Jasinda found it empty and searched only to find a ticket stub for a bus ticket.  Rushing out the house, Jasinda drove twenty minutes to the station and found Leo sitting at the bus terminal in the cold.  As they moved into November, they were getting a pleasant autumn chill that had Jasinda shivering as she walked in a thin tank top and jeans to Leo. "Get in the truck." She said pointing to her Jeep. Leo sat stubborn on the bus stop frowning, "Look you ain't got to-."  Jasinda grabbed his bag and said, "Boy I'm standing out here in the cold and I am not a nice person when I'm sick. Get yo ass in the truck."  Leo didn't argue and as they got in her jeep, Jasinda cranked up the heat for a moment so they could knock the chill off their skin. But instead of leaving she looked at him, "Let me guess you heard me being a whiney little b***h to my brother."  Leo smirked at her blunt description, "You were being honest and I don't blame you. I mean I wouldn't trust someone like me either." Jasinda exhaled as she looked at Leo and his expression was that of a kicked puppy.  Something just wanting love and ended up being hurt. And now here he sat, wounded and untrusting.  "I'm sorry Leonardo." Jasinda whispered as she sat back in his seat, "Something that came with being privileged is this nagging bougieness that makes me look down at someone whose had a hard life."  Leo looked at Jasinda surprised by her using his full name and raw honesty. Jasinda shrugged, "I guess I was taught early on that brothers who got locked up was put there for one reason or another. My father told me it was for what they did, drugs, violence, something that got them locked up and I should be...well on guard."  Jasinda glanced at Leo with an earnest look, "But you've never come at me side ways and my brother vouches for you. Whatever you did in your past ain't nothing of my business. I shouldn't have acted like a b***h to you after you were just answering my question. At least you didn't lie."  Leo smiled a little and looked at Jasinda, "Thanks... but for real if you want me out, I can get home to my brother in New Orleans. It'll suck being on his couch for a couple of weeks with his kids running around, but I can handle it."  Jasinda shook her head as she put the car in drive, "No, I think you should stay with me here. At least now if I get robbed or something happens, someone is here with me." Leo smirked a little, "So I'm only around to protect yo big headed ass now?" He joked.   Jasinda looked at him and shoved his shoulder as they both laughed, "Boy please, your s**t looks like someone steamed rolled your s**t. Extra long head ass. " Leo laughed surprised, "f**k you, get out and talk that shit."  Jasinda got them home safe and after heating up dinner both started to bed. But Leo stopped at his door and looked at Jasinda about to go into hers. "Hey Jas?" Jasinda looked over her shoulder at Leo and smiled a little.  "Yeah?"  Leo shrugged, "I just wanted you to know...locked up or not, I would never hurt you." Jasinda smiled a little, "I know. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings or...you know. Made you think I thought you would."  Jasinda looked at Leo sweetly, "I do have faith in you Leo, and I know you wouldn't hurt me. I heard a negative, assumed the worse, and made an ass. out. of me. But I know you good vibes." Leo grinned, "As long as you know."  Jasinda giggled and Leo checked her out in her little tank top and those jeans he knew took a minute to get over all that ass. "Hey since you did pull the whole boogie b***h on me. Can I ask you a personal question?"  A little curious, Jasinda nodded slowly, "Sure."  Leo shrugged, "You got a man?"
