Chapter 9

The Lycan council had met with Alpha Barron. They had discussed what Ashley had told them. He wanted to believe that Ashley had been co-operative but he felt that he wasn't quite honest. Alpha Barron had wondered why Ashley had wanted his alliance and had helped his escape from the hunters. It turned out that he had been paying the hunters that had captured him. Ashley hadn't planned on his capture or paying the hunters for it. Ashley had thought that paying off the rogue fighters and hunters could keep him power. He soon discovered that the rogue fighters and hunters were going to start a war with the Lycan kingdom. Ashley had wanted the protection from both sides. Now it seemed he wanted to help the Lycan council capture the rogue fighters. He couldn't believe that Ashley would help them without wanting something in return. Alpha Barron wondered if the new Alpha Ben would allow Ashley to live.

The Lycan council had sent the text to the rogue fighters and were waiting for a reply. Alpha Barron was hoping that they would meet them and have them captured alive. He knew that the rogue fighters wouldn't go easy like the other rogues. He just wanted the whole thing over so he could give complete control to Alpha Ben and he could go home. At least he knew that no matter what happened, Reggie and his family were safe.

"We have a reply, they want us to meet at the border of the forest. We are to bring Ashley and his sister. No guards" a council man told Alpha Barron.

"No, it's too risky. One of them and we need guard's" Alpha Barron told him.

"I sent the message" he told Alpha Barron.

They waited for a reply.

"They sent another message; Alpha Ashley and no guards, or no deal" he told Alpha Barron.

Alpha Barron frowned but nodded.

"Tell them we will meet them but have guards on standby. If they try anything we will have them hunted down" Alpha Barron told him.

The council man sent the message.

"I won't need to be there?" Alpha Ben asked the council.

"No, they want thier Alpha, Ashley. I don't know why; they won't be getting any more money after this meeting. You will be in charge on the packs mines and bank" Alpha Barron told him.

Alpha Ben nodded. He felt relieved that Alpha Barron had been considerate to include him in the meeting but he knew he wasn't really needed. The Lycan council seemed to have everything in control. He just had to wait until they had finished thier task of capturing the rogue fighters. He would then be in charge of the pack. It was something he never thought was possible. First, he had been promoted to Betta after Alpha Ashley demoted both Reggie and his brother, then Ashley had been stripped of his title. He hoped that he could be a better Alpha than Ashley.

"There's a new message; Alpha Ashley is to meet us with the money he promised us. After the exchange we will leave peacefully with Alpha Ashley. If we see more than 3 council men and women, Alpha Ashley and Alpha Barron we will call off the meeting then attack the pack. Come tomorrow morning at dawn" the council man told them.

"They know the number of council and royal Alpha" the council woman complained.

"Yes, and they want us to meet at the border of the forest at dawn. They seems risky. I know that as Lycans we have strong senses but even that sets us up for an ambush" the elder gentleman told them.

"We must be cautious; we don't exchange anything until they talk to Ashley. They would let him know if it's an ambush or something else. Just in case something goes wrong we need to track them. Alpha Ben, have someone inject Ashley with a tracker just in case they take him with them" Alpha Barron told them.

"Yes, Alpha Barron" Alpha Ben replied.

He sent someone to inject Ashley with a tracking device.

"Well, I guess we should prepare for tomorrow. Everyone try to get an early night; we need to be ready before dawn" Alpha Barron instructed them.

The night came and they anxiously waited until the hour before dawn. Ashley was brought along by Alpha Barron. He kept him close so he wouldn't have a chance to escape. The council, Ashley and Alpha Barron reached the border of the forest and waited. There was no sight or sounds of the rogue fighters. They were even able to hide thier smell. The group waited impatiently as the sun crept over the horizon.

"It is rather disrespectful for them to show up late" Alpha Barron muttered.

The group began to grow restless, it looked like the rogue fighters weren't going to show up.

"I guess they didn't really want you as thier Alpha. Well, you will have to go back to the cells" Alpha Barron told Ashley.

Just as they were about to head back there was a mind link from Alpha Barron's guards.

'There is an army of rogue fighters surrounding the pack house. They are demanding thier Alpha and for us to surrender' the guard told Alpha Barron.

"Quick, everyone the rogue fighters have staged a coup. We have to go back and fight them" Alpha Barron told them.

They started to shift and ran back towards the pack house. Ashley was left behind but he didn't run away. He knew that he was able to return to his pack house. When they got back, they saw the army was fighting the guards and pack members to get into the pack house. They were busy fighting that they didn't notice Alpha Barron charge towards the army. He started clawing and ripping into the rogue fighters. The huge men were built for a Lycan attack. They armed themselves and fought back at him. The Lycan council and rogue fighters were able to fight each other for an extended time. They did not see Ashley who picked up a silver knife that a pack member had dropped. He went towards the Lycan Alpha and held the knife against him.

"Stop, or I will kill the Alpha Barron" Ashley shouted to everyone.

The fighting stopped and everyone watched Ashley as he tried to hold the knife against Alpha Barron's neck.

"Now if you don't give me back my pack, I'll kill every one of you, starting with him" he pushed the silver blade into Alpha Barron's neck.

Alpha Barron flinched as the silver cut into his skin. Everyone had no choice but to obey Alpha Ashley.
