Chapter 8

Alpha Barron had the Lycan court arrive at the harvest moon pack within a few days. The council members were worried that a werewolf pack with a Lycan royal as Alpha, would cause a war. They started thier investigation into the charges against former Alpha Ashley and Alyssa.

"Ashley Cooper, you were the Alpha of the harvest moon pack, you have been accused of dealing with rogues and paying for attacks against other packs. How do you wish to plead against the charge?" an elder Lycan asked him.

"Not guilty. I never paid rogues to attack other packs" Ashley lied.

"Your sister, Alyssa Cooper, has testified that you have. She has also been charged with treason. She is co-operating with the council and will have a lesser sentence" the older gentleman told him.

"She is a liar; she is the reason the rogues attacked in the first place. She wanted Reggie and his mate to leave the pack. She wanted them outcasted of dead" Ashley told him.

"She has admitted that she only paid the rogue fighters to attack Reggie Cooper's mate, Monica and thier pup. She is also helping the council to bring in the rogue fighters" the council man told him.

"She won't get the rogue fighters here. She doesn't have anything they want" Ashley insisted.

"What do they want?" the other council man asked.

"They want money but they also want power. They need more fighters and weapons. They have money to buy some weapons but not enough to start a war" Ashley admitted.

"How do you know this? You plead not guilty of treason but know about the rogue fighters' needs" a Lycan she-wolf asked him.

Ashley was silent, he knew he had given away too much information without changing his plea.

"Ashley Cooper, if you co-operate with us, you will receive a lesser sentence" the Lycan council woman told him.

"I will co-operate, I wish to help. This was never meant to happen. I didn't want to commit treason. My sister was the one who wanted to use the rogue fighters. She thought that we would be a more powerful pack if we paid off the rogues. Then they started asking for more money and attacked other packs. They also paid off some hunters, they told us that no one would know where they got the money. They had blamed Baldwin Cooper, Reggie's brother on the attacks. Then Alyssa got them to attack our pack" Ashley admitted.

"So, you were involved in the attacks?" a council man asked.

"Yes, but only through a bank account. They wanted the money deposited in a business account. The business is fake but the account can't be traced back to the rogue fighters. They have you text a prepaid phone before they make a deal. Once the money goes through, they wait a few business days and take it out. The next werewolf pack is attacked after that" Ashley told them.

"Do you still have the information to contact them?" the gentleman asked him.

"Yes, will I be able to leave the cell, now that I'm helping you?" Ashley wondered.

"No, you will be locked up until the next Alpha of the pack is in position. He can decide what he wants to do with you" the Lycan councilman told him.

"Who is it? Reggie or his brother?" Ashley asked hoping it wasn't.

"No, he refused. It's Betta Ben" the council woman told him.

"Betta Ben" Ashley repeated. That loser he thought.

"We will have that information now. We will tell Alpha Ben that you co-operated with us. He might allow you to live here or outcast you" the gentleman told him.

Great Ashley thought. That Betta will be a worse Alpha than Reggie. At least a Cooper would have been able to prepare for the next rogue attack. He knew it was going to happen, the rogues had enough money and weapons. He hoped that the Lycan court had come with more guards or he had been able to convince them of a stronger alliance. He knew it would be too little late now. He only hoped that he would be spared since he had helped both sides of the law. Now he had to give them something that will save him. Then he got an idea, a text message that was a code he had been given.

"Send a text message to this number. Alpha takes pawn, pawn takes Alpha. Check mate" Ashley told them.

"What does that mean?" the council woman asked confused.

"It means you will get the rogue fighters" Ashley smiled at them.

They will have the rogue fighters ready to fight them and then he can escape this place.
