Monica could hear Reggie moving into the back, his shackles clinking in the cage. She wondered if he could smell that she was in the truck. It was a long 2 and a half hour drive. Monica was starving and was trying to concentrate on getting the key to Reggie. Her father was watching her closely. She knew that this would be her only chance to help Reggie. Max turned off the highway and headed for thier neighbour's place. Monica grew restless as they approached the Sawyer's place. They had high fences and steel gates too. She knew she had to wait until the last moment to make a run for Reggie. Max was greeted at the gate and was allowed through. He drove towards the Sawyer's house. "Stay in here" Max told her as he left the truck to go into the house. Monica wasn't going to stay inside for long. She needed to see her father and the other hunters and they had seen her. They were talking at the front door and then they were walking towards the truck. Max was promising the Sawyer's to have the werewolf there at no expense. He would help train the werewolf and they would split the winning money from the werewolf's fighters death arena. He had about a month to give them money to help pay for training and other expenses. Monica watched as they stopped near her side of the truck. She might have to go out her father's side. "So why is Monica not helping you with the werewolf?" Declan asked Max. "She can't be trusted not to fall for his tricks. It already got her fooled to believe she loves him" Max sneered. The hunters all looked towards Monica waiting inside the truck. She was trying to pick the right time to run to Reggie with the key. "Well, she will be safe with the werewolf here. Over time she will forget him and realise how fooled she was" Declan suggested. He was disappointed that Monica would love a werewolf rather than him. "I'll make sure she forgets him. She will never be able to love a werewolf when I've done educating her" Max informed them. "Well, let's get the werewolf to the shed. We will talk more about its training and expenses. Don't forget we still have more traps to set up. We need to bring up the numbers before there is too many living near humans" Devin told them. They all headed towards the back of the truck. That's when Monica snuck out of the truck. They took Reggie out and dragged him towards the shed. "This is a boy, not a full grown werewolf" Declan yelled at it. "It's older than it looks. This werewolf was able to go into the final death match. If he had been trained, he would have won" Max informed Declan. "This thing made Monica fall in love with it" Declan spat it. "Yes, it's a tricky wolf in sheep's clothing" Devin joked. "I will torture it myself" Declan yelled. "Not too much son. We need it alive so it can win more fights for us" Devin instructed him. Declan was still glaring at Reggie. He wanted to kill him. Monica knew he would, if he had the chance. So, she started to run at Reggie from behind. He heard her and turned as she got close enough. She put her fist into his hand. He grabbed her hand and she opened her fist. She gave him the key. Once his hand found the key, he closed it and she was soon dragged away from him. She had managed to give him a way of escaping. Monica tried to watch Reggie hiding the key in his big hand. He was threatened to keep moving or he was going to have his first torture weapon. Reggie did what they told him. Monica was being threatened by her father and he was taking her home to be punished. Monica didn't know how long she would have to wait before she knew Reggie escaped. She was taken home where she was forced to stay. Max threatened her that she would be hurt if she left the house without him or another hunter. Monica cried in her bedroom and saw that her clothes still had Reggie's dried blood on it. She decided to change but she didn't want to throw away the clothes. She hid them in a bag. She then slowly went to the bathroom where she washed away the scent of Reggie. She wished she could be with him and have his scent all around her. Monica then made herself look neat and clean. She went and made herself something to eat before going back to bed for a long nap. That night Monica had her father force her to watch horror movies with werewolves. "This is what a real werewolf is like" Max kept telling her. Monica nodded but she didn't agree. She knew Reggie wasn't really a monster. "They are killers. They want to appear human but they aren't. They will enslave us and kill us the first chance they get. They will never love a human, including you Monica. You are lucky that you weren't fooled into mating with one. It's a disgusting act to corrupt a human into breeding with that thing" Max continued. He was going to lecture her until she believed him. Monica nodded but her heart felt heavy. Reggie wanted her to be his mate. She was going to let him mate with him when she was ready. Now she wasn't sure if he would be able to escape or come back for her. Max continued his education of watching horror werewolf movies. Monica had to spend her days in the house watching them and doing housework. She hardly talked or laughed anymore. She found herself having nightmares and missing Reggie. The days went by like this until about a week later.
