When it was dark Monica crept back to the stable. She found her per lying under a sack. He had shifted back to a human boy. He had shed his clothes and was now naked under the sack. Monica could see by the dim light that he had wounds that covered his legs and arms. Monica went to get some water and bandages. She crept towards Reggie and peeked at his swollen face. Reggie woke up startled when he heard her.
"Shh, it's me Monica. I am sorry that my father did this to you" she whispered to him.
"I know. I am sorry I couldn't control my wolf" Reggie whispered back.
"Do you still want to be my pet?" Monica asked him quietly.
"Yes but we will have to pretend your fathers in charge. I can't control my wolf side, yet" Reggie told her.
"You might have to take some wolfsbane until you can" Monica suggested.
"Yes but only a small dose. I still need to heal" Reggie informed her.
"I bought some water and bandages. Does that help?" Monica wondered.
"I need more than that. If I was to fully heal, I need to get these shackles off" Reggie told her.
"I'll get the key but you must promise to take the wolfsbane. I can't help you if my father finds out you have healed without it" Monica told him.
" I will but you shouldn't risk getting the key. Just put the bandages on the shackles. I'll take them off when I have healed" Reggie suggested.
Monica did as he suggested. The bandages prevented the shackles from touching Reggie. He was able to start healing.
"Thankyou, Monica. You should go before you are missed at the house" Reggie suggested.
"I will go soon. I want to know what your wolf's name is?" Monica wondered.
"I think you should name him too" Reggie told her.
"How about Rufus?" Monica asked him.
"Rufus!" Reggie smiled at her.
"Yes, Rufus" Monica smiled back.
"Rufus it is, then" Reggie told her.
Monica left him and his wolf. The wolf now named Rufus spoke to Reggie in his mind.
" I think we will make her out pet" he spoke to Reggie.
Reggie nodded. He agreed that Monica should be thier pet.
During the day Reggie was tormented by Max and was stung with silver. He had to eat wolfsbane to stop shifting into a wolf. At night Monica would sneak him the bandages to cover his shackles. She also gave him extra food that wasn't drugged with wolfsbane. She wanted to know more about Reggie but he refused to tell her much.
"will you ever tell me who you really are?" Monica asked him.
Reggie paused from eating to shake his head.
"I can't tell you. It will put us both in danger" he told her between mouthfuls.
"I would like to know what it's like living in your pack and why you left?" Monica wondered.
"It was comfortable, happy fun, busy and safe. It seems foolish now why I left" Reggie admitted to her.
"Will you tell me why?" Monica wondered.
"Maybe but first, I want to know what you think about werewolves. Do you see us as only dangerous? Do you think we can't be more human, or do you think of us as wolf's?" Reggie wondered.
"I don't know. I see you and I don't think of you as being dangerous. I want to know more about you, Reggie. I want to know if you are more human than wolf" Monica admitted.
"Would you want to know more about my wolf.Do you think you would see him as dangerous?" Reggie wondered.
"Maybe at first, I think if I knew you both, I would see that you're not dangerous" Monica admitted.
"You might see that not all werewolves are dangerous" Reggie suggested.
He crept closer to Monica and she was surprised that his golden brown eyes stared into hers. He reached for her hand and she took it.
" I want to believe that. If you say it's true then I believe you" Monica told him.
"It's true, you can trust me. I won't hurt you or my wolf too" he promised her.
"Reggie, I believe you but I don't think I can stop my father from hurting you" Monica told him nervously.
"I know, I don't blame you. You will have to help me escape and I promise that I will remember that you helped me" Reggie started to rub his hands with her hands.
Monica started to feel relaxed and allowed Reggie to pull her closer to him.
"I will help you, if I can" she promised him.
Reggie held her close and smelled her hair.
"I know you will. but first you want to know more about me. Well, like most werewolves, I can love other werewolves and humans. If I had a choice whom to love, between another werewolf and a human, I would choose a human. You see Monica, werewolves have a destined mate. We don't get to choose. I don't want mine but I will reject her as soon as I get back to my pack" Reggie told her.
Monica looked at him confused.
"What do you mean, you have a mate? Is that like a girlfriend?" she wondered.
Reggie looked at her sadly.
"Yes and no. My mate is supposed to spend to be who I spend the rest of my life with. We discover who it is about the time of our 18th birthday. I am that age and I don't want to know her. It's part of the reason I left the pack" Reggie admitted to her.
"Why? What's so bad about having a mate? " Monica wondered.
"Nothing if you have a mate that isn't ashamed of you. I was looking forward to finding mine until what happened to my brother" Reggie told her.
"What happened to your brother?" Monica wondered.
"He had to reject his mate because she was ashamed of him. She wanted to be with the Alpha, the leader of the pack. He had to watch her as she flirted with the Alpha and reject him as though he was worse than an omega. I saw what it did to my brother, he wasn't good enough for his mate and started to withdraw from the pack. He almost became a rogue, which is worse than an omega. He transferred to another pack because that b***h rejected him. I didn't want that to happen to me, I thought about joining my brother as soon as I became rogue. Rogues don't usually have mates and that's why I ran away. Now that I know what it means to be rogue, I almost regret leaving" Reggie informed her.
"Do you regret it because you're here or because you don't know who your mate is?" Monica asked him.
"Yes I regret being here, like this but I don't regret not choosing my mate" Reggie admitted to her.
"Why?" Monica wondered.
"Because I would choose you as a mate" Reggie told her.
