The hunter's daughter

Chapter 3

"Reggie, what has happened? Why do you have to leave us for a day?" Monica asked him worried.

"My brother has been reported to be a part of a rival pack. I need to try to talk to him before a fight starts. I will only be gone for a day. Alpha Barron will have guards to keep you safe while we are gone" Reggie told her.

"Why do you need to talk to him? You haven't seen him in years and he is older than you, he might not listen" Monica told him.

"I have to try, if I don't, we might be in danger. I don't believe Alpha Ashley will protect us. He looks at us with disgust. I have heard rumours that he wishes to banish us but because of Alpha Barron, he doesn't. I would have taken you and our pup to another pack but there isn't many that will accept us. The threat of rogue attacks has too many people unwilling to accept strangers. The only ones might be my brother's pack, if they aren't co-operating with rogues or hunters. I will find out when I talk to my brother and I will let you know when I come back" Reggie stated.

"What about going to Alpha Barron's pack? Couldn't we go there?" Monica wondered.

"His pack is for Lycans and he is a royal. We would still be outcasts there" Reggie told her.

"I wish you didn't have to leave us here. We should be able to come with you" Monica insisted.

"I know, I wish that too. It's too dangerous for you and our pup. The rogues and hunters will see you as a target. As as soon it's safe for all of us to travel we will leave together" Reggie promised her.

"I hope that will be soon. The only time that anyone from the pack talks to me is when they demand I sew thier clothes. I have a new born and they still expect me to sew all the clothes for the pack. The other mothers also don't allow me near them. They look at our son like he's a half breed. I have no one else to talk to, except you and Lucian" Monica complained to Reggie.

"I'm sorry Monica, I know it's hard for you living here. I have had to deal with this pack all my life so I know what it's like. I promise that we will find another place to live, one that's more friendly" Reggie promised her.

Monica cried while Reggie held her. He waited for her to stop crying.

"When do you leave?" she asked sniffling.

"In the next few days. It will only be a day so it will go by quickly" Reggie told her.

"I hope so, I can't be away from you for more than a day" Monica admitted to him.

"I can't be away from you for long either" Reggie admitted.

The next few days were spent with anxious expectations. Monica was worried Reggie and he was worried about her. Alpha Barron was worried for them both and he was increasingly becoming frustrated with Alpha Ashley. The constant parties and expensive decorations. Alpha Ashley and his sister were trying to appear like they were rich and stylish. Alpha Barron couldn't stand thier fake appearances. They spent more money on unnecessary items instead of keeping to the pack's budget. They weren't worried about the pack working hard to get less supplies. They only wanted to make an impression on Alpha Barron so he would be thier friends. Alpha Barron refused to attend thier parties and events that they hosted. Alpha Ashley and his sister were persistent but failed to keep Alpha Barron interested in them.

"How can Alpha Barron call himself a royal? He has no taste or as style and he refuses to spend time with the most important members of this pack" Alyssa complained to her brother.

"He must not be important enough in the Lycan kingdom. We should start inviting more members from his pack. Perhaps amongst his own people he will be more of a leader" Alpha Ashley suggested.

"Perhaps but what about getting a better alliance deal to benefit the pack? The Lycans should be aligning themselves with packs that are important to the kingdom. We have been loyal and powerful for the kingdom. We should be rewarded for what we have done for the kingdom. Instead, Alpha Barron has refused our friendship and made friends with losers. Brother, I think it's time to show everyone how much we are needed" Alyssa insisted.

"No, not yet. We need to wait until Alpha Barron and Reggie have found his brother. Then we start putting our plan into place. When they realise who is really in control of the rogue attacks, they will beg us to be thier friends. We will have a higher position in the Lycan kingdom" Alpha Ashley confirmed.

"You're right brother, we won't have to wait long before we are invited to be amongst more important Lycans" Alyssa agreed.

"By that time, we should have been able to get rid of the losers of the pack. We can wait a few more days to get rid of them" Alpha Ashley smirked at his sister.

"Yes, it will be worth it" Alyssa agree with him.

They went back to their party and soon enjoyed themselves. They celebrated at the thought that Reggie and his family will finally be gone for good.
