Born with a Name
Everyone is born with a name, and as they grow, their name becomes unique to them. As they grow and strengthen their bodies, their names display power. In the days of old, the original alfa was named Briac, meaning one who has force and strength. His Luna was named Aadye, meaning the power that gave rise to the 5 great nations. Together, they held a bond stronger than time. Briac and Aadye conquered many lands. Claiming each one for their sons. Connell, a mighty warrior. Donner, a dark warrior whose name is like thunder. Eamon, one who saves. Fearghus, a man of great strength. And Hasson, strong fortress. Each of their sons took their land and did what they will. Connell ruled his kingdom, never being satisfied with what he owned. He constantly looked for lands to conquer, never letting go of his warrior self. This trait betrayed him,, he was killed by a young warrior who took his kingdom as his own.. Donnor, moved through the night like black mist, ring through the unspoken lands as they slept, never seeing the light of day, or the pure happiness that came with the rising sun. That trait betrayed him, keeping track of his movements through the day,, he was killed by a king in the land he once conquored at nightfall. Eamon was a kind soul. That trait betrayed him, he was killed after falling in love with a woman he saved. For her, he was too kind a ruler, and she killed him as they slept. Fearghus, wanted nothing more than to gock at his own body. He tried sculpting himself into the perfect man, this trait betrayed him. In the fight to get physically stronger, he became weak, and a mear sickness took his life. The last son, Hasson, was too afraid of war. He wanted to defend his land and built the strongest fortress a man can imagine. No one could step inside its walls without his permission. This trait betrayed him, for the very people he protected turned against him in an uproar and took his life as he lay asleep. The story of these great sons are told through packs around the world. And everyone knows their names. One day, your name will be know too.
I opened my eyes. I dreamed of the same dream. A white wolf telling me my name would be known one day. "What does she mean?" I mumble to myself. I had a name one time. I was born with a name, although now it is dust of a memory. If I get too close and try to remember, it floats away. I was born into the moonlight rage pack. Our alfa is named Alfa Keenan, he loves his pack, but does not tolerate weaklings. Every day there is a new rumor. Someone he had banished and killed. My parents were once one of his strongest warriors. He would call them in the middle of the night to meet with them about the protection of our pack. I remember the last night I saw the real them. I say the real them, because when they came back, they had lost themselves.
My brother was 2 years older than me. Marcus was his name. He was strong and happy. He wanted to be a great warrior for our pack just like our parents. The night we lost him was a dark, dreary night. Alfa Keenan sent his beta to retrieve my parents. I couldn't have been more than 10 then, my brother 12. The mist covered the windows of our house as the moonlight dimmed. My parents hugged us and told us they would be back and that they loved us. We were to stay inside and lock the doors. "Don't open it for anyone, my little pups. Remember, we will be back by morning. I love you, Marcus. And I love you too, Olivia" And then they left. That was the last time I heard my name. As we waited inside, watching out the windows as the mist rolled by and the rain started, my brother broke the silence. "Hey sis, do you think that one day Alfa Keenan will pick me as one of his best warriors too?" "Of course he will silly! You're the bravest boy I know! He would be crazy not to want you in his army!" Marcus smiled at me. "Yeah I think so too!" He put his hand on my head and messed up my hair. I hated it. I pushed his hand off. "Hey don't mess with my hair! Why do you always have to do that? I want to be pretty like mommy and you're messing it up!" "You're already pretty like mommy Oli." He said bending down to see me face to face. He was a head taller than me,, but always came down to my level. His smile always made me feel better. And his nickname for me. Oli. He was the only one who ever said it. And the only one I would let say it. "I'm going to bed, don't stay up too late ok? I already locked the doors and turned off the lights. And don't try staying up to see mom and dad! You know they will be upset if you're still awake when they get home." He had started climbing the stares and gave me a wink at the end before heading to his room. I looked out the window at the rain. I could see my reflection staring back at me. I was an unusual child. My father, had dark brown hair and brown eyes. His wolf was a deep deep brown. My mother had medium brown hair and hazel eyes. Her wolf was medium brown as well, which showed off her eyes. Marcus looked like my dad. He has dark brown hair and golden eyes. Because he was still young, I didn't know what his wolf would look like, but I imagined it would be fierce with his eyes staring at you. I giggled to myself in the window until I saw my reflection again. I was unusual, unlike my parents and brother, my hair was black with dark green lowlights, and my eyes were a pale greens. Almost seafoam. When people saw me, they stared, fearing that I was cursed. Although the pain from their stares hurt,, my mom told me that they were just jealous because my eyes and hair were so pretty, but all I wanted was to look like mommy. I sighed, again looking out the window, thinking of how prettier I would be if I looked like mommy. How prettier I would be if my eyes were a normal color..
. Our house wasn't very big, but it was on the border of the pack land. Because my parents were such fierce warriors, the alfa trusted them to kill any rogues that came to the territory before reporting to him. We lived to the south of the border, right beside the river. I could see the water getting faster and harsher as the rain got harder and it flowed by the rocks and tree banks. Then, something got my eye. It looked like a boy. But why was he running? I jumped up off my seat and ran to the door. I was small and frail, but I thought I could help him. "Maybe he needs a place to stay because of the rain?" I said to myself while unlocking the door and running outside. I ran to the river Bank but I couldn't see anything. The rain was harder than ever and I screamed, "HELLOOOOOO??? IS ANYBODY THERE??? HELLOOOO?!" "H-h-hear!" Someone coughed. I looked to the right and saw the boy holding on to a limb.. he had slipped and fallen.. i rushed down to him.. he was about my age, with dark green eyes. I gasped,, "let me help you!! Take my hand!!" I reached out to him, trying to balance myself on the muddy bank. "NO!!! Go away please!! Don't help me!! They will get you too!!" He cried out to me. Suddenly, I felt someone looking. I looked up to the other side of the river and saw 2 yellow eyes. They were ghastly. They pierced my mine like daggers to my head. I started trembling. "Please run!! They will get you too! Run please just leave me and run!!" The boy screamed. I was frozen. I couldnt move. Those eyes. Those eyes saw through me. I got ahold of myself and reached down to the boy, grabbing his hand. The moment we touched i felt a spark. Something hit me like lightening. His eyes got wide as he stared up at me. I didn't know what was happening. Neither of us did. . Suddenly, i slipped on the slope I was on and went into the river. The boy slipped from my grasp, but something else grabbed my other hand. Water poured against my face as I tried to surface to breathe. "ARE YOU STUPID WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!?! I TOLD YOU TO STAY INSIDE!!!" My brother held my hand tight. I could tell he was struggling to keep his hold on my hand. Finally, he got the strength and pulled me up. "YOU i***t!!" he said, smacking me on the head then pulling my into a big hug. "What were you thinking Oli?!?! You could have been killed!!!" He held me close as I cried, "but Marcus the boy... there was a boy!! And eyes! Yellow eyes! They were chasing him!" "Woah what woah!! Oli, what are you talking about?? There is no one here!" "No marcus I saw him!! I held his hand! The wolf was chasing him and he fell into the river.." Marcus saw my tears and got up to investigate. "Stay here Oli. I'll be right back. I'm going to look down stream." He got up and walked toward the river. He looked thoroughly at the banks and the water. He looked everywhere. A few minutes after he headed down stream, I began to get worried. I mustered up my strength and followed the steps he took. Then I heard it. "What do you want??! Are you the one my sister was talking about?? Who is the boy?? Where is he??" I quietly followed his voice until I saw him. There he was. The wolf with yellow eyes. He growled at my brother, "shut up you brat! The boy deserves death. If you defend him then you will die too!" I gasped. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Death? Like as in kill someone? Why would he deserve death?? I began to weep.
