Joan was drunk. Charolette knew that drinking until four in the morning was a bad idea. When Edith walked into the party, Owen was standing at the front waiting. Their eyes connected and it was an instant. Edith jumped in his arms. Joan had walked away. Char knew this would be hard on her, but not leave a party for the third bar that night bad. “I’m the oldest. Lawerence just up and left.. now E finds her beloved. Which I’m happy for her of course, but why do I have to wait?” She wrapped her arm around her cousin, “soon I can feel it.” Joan just muttered mmm. Charolette gasped as the smell hit her nose. She knew what it was. She instantly smiled and was about to get up, when she looked to Joan. She had held her arm in order to not fall off the bar. Charolette knew what she had to do. She put a fifty on the bar and grabbed Joan. “Ma’am this is way too much.” She leaned in, “show me the way out back and we will call it even. Some guys from a party tried to pressure my cousin and I just saw them.” He nodded, “follow me.” Charolette whispered as the scent entered the bar. “No yet. Please understand.” “I will find you.” Char hissed, “you can try.” She thanked the man and put Joan in piggy back style on her back. She walked far enough out of view and jumped on a nearby building and ran until they hit Miles house. She knocked impatiently. Miles opened the door. “Take Joan, I’ll explain in a few hours. I have a hunter on my tail. They only smelled me. I’ll be back before your first class.” He nodded in understanding. “We removed the mat too so keep yourself safe don’t worry about us. Oh and my queen be safe.” Charolette took off toward the woods. She could smell his scent again and had to get far enough where her family couldn’t feel her presence. She ended up deep in the forest and noticed the smell of another kiss. She cursed herself. He had led her to his land. Charolette turned right, hoping they didn’t scent her. As she had gotten out of range of the Kiss smell, she had noticed his smell getting heavier. “I told you, I would find you.” She breathed out, “I need time. My Kiss needs me…unmated me.” He hissed as he dropped from the tree he was perched on. She could see only his golden eyes piercing the night sky. She thanked the heavens he wasn’t a feeder like her family. Charolette backed up and felt a hard surface. She looked up to see a rock cliff at her back. “Damn it.” He laughed, “you don’t know how long I’ve waited to meet you. I must be a disappointment to a feeder. I saw your friend out at the school this morning and knew you weren’t malicious. You’re a daywalker, like myself. So you don’t only use blood bags..” Char stiffened, “I’m not a monster if that is what you think. I’m a Master.” “So you don’t want me..because.” She was getting frustrated, “who said I didn’t want you!?” He stepped back at the dominance coming off her. He tilted his head and sniffed her scent from the air again. He gasped, then dropped to his knees. “My Queen.” She hissed, “don’t bow to me beloved, we are equals.” “Why are you asking me to wait if the idea of rejecting me makes you feral?” Charolette squinted, but still could not make out anything, but his eyes. She sniffed the air could tell arousal had mixed with his scent. She was playing a dangerous game. She knew if they separated before the mark, they could go into a blood thirst. Especially her. “My kiss is vulnerable.” He stepped closer, “let me strengthen it.” She tsked. “Emotionally, you prick. We are older kiss so power isn’t the problem.” “Oh fiesty and powerful. I would love to show you some of my power.” Char glared at him, “you kept up with me, beloved or not that is impressive.” “So what do you propose we do, beloved?” She shuffled back further up the rock wall. His eyes never moved from her. Charolette felt a brief wind pass by and his scent filled the air once more. “Give me a week and a half to find my cousin’s beloved. I don’t want her to be alone. I can sense he is near.” He sped to her, without her able to move. “Let’s check my kiss. I heard you have five hours until the first class, well a class that any vampire would be in. You could spend it with me. I will promise to be on my best behavior and not mark you until you beg me for it.” He whispered the last part into her ear. Charolette’s arousal thickened the air and she noticed his fangs drop. She pushed him off her and little sparks shot up her arms. “I make a promise. I don’t break promises, even if my fangs try to.” She rolled her eyes. “How many other kisses are near here? I hadn’t smelled any on campus.” “Only truly powerful vampires can live among humans like that.” He hesitated, “or a feeder.” She hissed, “don’t pretend to know what my Kiss has been through.”
