Chapter Three

2057 Words
"Don't open the door yet." I look at her as I stand behind the door, holding the knife that wounded me behind me, using my wounded hand, and holding the door knob with the other. She turns her back against me and walks towards her bed. I don't know what she's thinking right now, but I am just so nervous that's why I readied myself with a knife, for protection. If she's right, someone might have entered our room when we were both sleeping. And there's a big probability that they were the one on the other side of this door right now, listening to our conversation before knocking. There's another knock on the other side, and I am now scared. If we don't open this now, they might open this with their keys, or in the worst scenario, using force. Luna walks back again towards me, and holds the doorknob that I am holding. She rotated it fast to open the door. I really can't understand this woman. One second, she told me not to open the door, but here she is, widening the opening of the door without telling me what's happening. She had just looked towards her laptop that was on her bed, and just like that, she opened the door without explaining. "Hey. What are you doing here?" A smile flushed on her face as she greets the person outside our room. So based on her expression, she might know the person. I sigh as a relief and rush back towards my bed to hide the knife inside the cabinet. I don't want someone to see me holding a knife, because that would be so troublesome. They might think that I am plotting something, and I don't want to mislead anyone. Luna stays standing at the door, while I am wiping the floor to remove the stain of my blood. I wonder why she's not welcoming her visitor to enter the room, it's just fine with me anyway. The basins she used were still on the floor, as we didn't have the time to clean up because of that nerve wrecking knock. I really thought that it's the end of us. I know, I shouldn't think about death right now, because I am here to enjoy, not to scare myself. I am here to take a video for my vlog, but I haven't set my camera yet, as I thought I would be occupying a room without having company. But things do happen, so I don't think I can take a video here inside the room. The other basin doesn't have water right now, but it was filled with water a while back as she used it to wash my hand, and filled the other basin using the dirty water. I decided to put them back inside the bathroom. But as I am walking towards the bathroom, Luna's reflection suddenly appears on the surface of the basin, looking at me as if she found another victim. I walk faster, and lock the door of the bathroom fast. And even though I am dying with fear, I manage to throw the water to the sink, and see myself in the mirror on the wall. I hold onto the sink to support myself, as I am really shaking in fear. I am nervous. I feel so tired. My breathing was not normal. And I am scared. I don't know if I really saw her looking at me that way, or if it was just in my imagination. But I doubt it. I clearly saw her looking at me with those eyes that wanted to kill. I am still shaking in fear. I really hate this kind of feeling, like I am going to explode any minute. I don't even feel this even though I am living alone, all by myself, but here I am, experiencing the fear of dying. She might be planning my death right now, with that someone she knew outside the room, I don't know. Maybe that's the reason why she's always facing her laptop, maybe she's contacting her allies to kill me. Or she chose this room with me because she thinks I am an easy target. It's not helping, Llaine. Stop it. You're making it worse. I wash my face with water from the faucet, and let it dry on my face, without using a towel, as I look at my reflection in the mirror. Is this why I am so nervous back in my house? Is my Mom's bad feeling's happening right now? I wish, not. A knock on the door awakes my soul, as my heart is pounding faster than earlier. Help me please, dear God. Save me. "Llaine. Are you alright there? Llaine?" It's her. That voice, that's Luna's. I'm scared to even answer her. I need something. Something that can help me protect myself, something that can be used for defense. I look under the sink, to the cabinet, to the mini walk-in closet. There's only hangers inside the closet, and shampoos in the cabinet. There's also unused toothbrushes inside, There's a lot of things in here, and the only one's missing is the one that I need the most. I should've not left the knife there. And She might have it right now. "Llaine. Are you alright? I'll open the door if you don't answer me. Llaine." "N-no. I. I'm alright. Don't worry." I used all my courage to answer her, because if not, she will open the door, and I will die here, without having the chance to fight. I should've learned taekwondo back then when my father was insisting that I take classes and learn it to protect myself. So here I am, like a scaredy cat that couldn't even think properly to protect herself. "Are you sure? You've been there for a while. Do you need medicine or what?" "N-no. I'm. I'm really just fine." I need to think fast. Llaine, please use your brain, not your feelings. "Luna… can you, ahhm. Can you go away? I mean... just go to your bed, please. I'll be out. I just need to make time for myself." "In the bathroom?" "Y-yes." There's silence after, but I don't think she left already. "Alright then. Just call me if you need anything. Oh. And by the way, they already left, if that's what you're trying to avoid." They already left? Aren't they'll be killing me? I shrugged my head. Llaine, it's as if you really want to die right now, stupid. Just be thankful that they already left. But, there's also a probability that she's just lying. Geez, Llaine. Just think positively. I am looking at the mirror and trying to calm myself. "Alright Llaine." I whispered. "You're here to enjoy, and have a peace of mind. Stop worrying yourself. Just please." After minutes of calming myself, I decided to get out. It's alright. I just need to prepare myself. I hold onto the doorknob, and without thinking of another possibility, I just open the door fast, and walk through it. She's on her bed, seating, and watching me walk past her to get to the other side of the room where my bed is. I didn't mind her, and acted just my normal self even though I am really shaking in fear. "We're having a bonfire at eight after dinner." I glanced at her direction after she said that. "Quinn and Ace were here earlier, and told me that." Who's Quinn and Ace? "They were too shy to enter our room, because they know you're here, and didn't even bother to say hi to you." "Wait. Who are they? Quinn and Ace." "They're a friend of mine. You'll meet them later." Is that when they planned to kill me? If so, then I need to make an excuse so I wouldn't be where ever they are later. "I can't come." She's just looking at me like she already knew what I was going to say. "No one's allowed to stay inside the building after dinner, if that's what you're planning to do. They told me that someone will be checking every room later, and you might not want to be seen here." Checking every room? Why would they do that? They must not know the meaning of privacy here, but, well, they have been here anyways. They even sneaked knives on our things. No wonder they'll be checking later, and I wouldn't be surprised if they put another thing inside our room later. I sighed. It's better to be around her than those people, so fine. I'll consider her a safe place for now, because if she wants to kill me, she should have done it earlier when I was still sleeping, but she didn't, so it's fine - for now. I should not lower down my defence, as I don't even know this woman in front of me. She's still a mystery for me, and I haven't heard any answer from her for my questions that she had built in my mind. "I'll consider you, going, then. You should start preparing now, we'll get down about an hour from now. The dinner will start at six, and they'll probably be welcoming every one of us through that." **** "Get your phone. We'll check if there's a signal there." We're all ready, and I am wearing my black sweatpants and a white shirt inside my black hoodie jacket, and wearing my slippers. It might be cold outside, as the island we are right now is surrounded with waters, and the open sea. I got my phone, not because she said so, but because I really need it, and in case there's a signal down there, I can contact Mom. She must be so worried right now. "Wait. Why are you bringing that?" I saw her put the knife inside her backpack, as she decided to bring her laptop with her. Is she really going to kill me later with her friends? Oh no Llaine. Not again with your thoughts. Stop it. "Just in case. I told you, it's dangerous out there. We should be prepared at all times." Aren't you the one who's bringing danger right now? "Why is it not safe outside, Luna? You've been saying that ever since we arrived." "Because, it is dangerous. Do you even know why we ended up here?" "Of Course. Because we all tried to be the first to occupy the limited spot of that free flight, right?" I didn't expect her reaction, but she smirked. She even let out a little laugh, as if she's making fun of what I have said. "What's funny?" I'm standing beside my bed, and looking at her on the other side, where she just finished zipping her bag. "You really don't know anything, do you?" My brows automatically formed furrows. I don't know, but She sounds like insulting me for not knowing anything. I mean, I am just here to have my vacation. I didn't know that I needed to know something just to get that three-day vacation. "The email you received was sent for just a hundred and fifty people, and it's not because it's limited, but because they already have people in mind to be part of that flight." "Wait, what? You mean even though we don't reply fast, we'll still be getting the flight?" "Yes. And if you just wanted to know, You were the very last one to reply to that email as you were the very last person to receive it." And just like that, Luna had built another tower of questions and fear inside of me. I haven't even demolished the last one that she had built, but here she is, constantly building one. "H-how did you find it out?" "Just like how you love travelling, I also love hacking." She said with a grin, before she placed her bag on her back, and walked for the door. "Come on. They'll probably be waiting for us." She said, and opened it wide waiting for me to get back to my senses, which I don't know if I could do so. "Let's not be swayed by the words Llaine. What I had said was true, but do not let that hinder you, and your front vision."
