I am loving the sound of the burning woods, the flame crawling up above, lighting up the pitch black surroundings, with the sound of the waves crawling across the seashore, and the wind that's so soothing and calming to my over paranoid self.
They prepared a campfire party, with their staff dancing to the beat of the music played with ukulele, gathering us all around the flame.
There were some who were serving drinks, mostly whines and light drinks that were just fine with the atmosphere.
Luna and I, with the two men I met earlier, were all standing beside the table for four, and we all grabbed a drink while enjoying the night lights of an Island camp.
Well, I am trying to enjoy myself with their company, but I can't just ignore Ace and Luna who, I guess, have something going on in between them. There's this awkwardness that was going on around the four of us, which I don't know if Quinn could also feel.
I drink my juice which I have gotten from one staff member who had been going around to serve all of us. There were I think more or less twenty members of the Island's staff here in the little party they had prepared, including the Woman earlier.
I didn't see her again, and I hope that it stays that way for the sake of my peace of mind.
I suddenly feel the urge to pee as I finish my second glass of juice.
"Excuse Me. I'll just go find the restroom."
"Will you be alright?" Luna asked me as she enjoys watching the dancers and the other travellers with us who had also joined the stage.
"Yeah." I don't want to bother her anymore as she's not here to take care of me, and I can look for myself anyways - not like how she looks for herself though.
"Just go straight and turn left. There must be where the restroom is."
I stopped as Ace just told me the direction, which is a surprise for me. But, maybe they have been here earlier.
"Okay. Thanks." I left them there, tracing the direction he had told me, walking slowly as I am making distance from where they were.
There, I can already see the one story building, away from the noise of the people, which I barely hear from here. It's dark in this part of the island, and there was only one lighted bulb in front of it.
This part of the island is clean, and there were only a few dry leaves on the sand, but in all fairness, it's really clean and well maintained. And just like the outer part, the restroom on the inside is well maintained. The tiles from the floor to the walls were all clean, and it's refreshingly beautiful, making it simple.
The huge half-body mirror which was flustered through the wall was way cleaner than that of my house which I always maintain clean. The mirror itself was an art, it's simple but it's beautiful.
"Oh. Pee."
I rushed into an empty cubicle and released all the liquids that I had consumed earlier and let it flow down with a flush. Even the bowl is white as a white-paint.
I went out and washed my hand on the sink which is just below the mirror. There's also a prepared hand wash and sanitizers placed in an organizer basket, towels in a cabinet below the sink, tissue papers, another set of sanitizers, and soaps, and just beside the sink, there's a hand dryer which I find so convenient.
Maybe I'm just really overthinking a while back, because this place is beautiful, in every corner of it and there is no way that what I was thinking earlier could be true and could happen.
I took out my phone from my pocket and started shooting a video inside the restroom. I just really love this kind of vibe and a well maintained and cleaned restroom, and I just felt the urge to take a video of it. I might start taking videos later for my next travel vlog.
I closed my phone and put it back inside the pocket of my hoodie. With one last look on my reflection at the clear mirror, I decided to get out of the restroom.
The only light earlier was already off and it’s too dark out here. The wind welcomed me as soon as I went outside the restroom and it gave me chills. It’s too dark and the only thing I could see was the distant fire from where I left the three.
I am still in the doorway of the restroom, and waiting for my vision to adjust through the darkness of this place. But as I was waiting, I heard footsteps, somewhere not far from where I am. The sound of that someone, as if dragging something on the ground. The sound is getting nearer, and I don’t like what I am feeling right now. Curiosity and fear were fighting inside me. My hands started to get wet as I am slowly taking small steps towards the side of the restroom.
“Fu-” Someone put his hands on my mouth from behind me as he was dragging me inside. I know it's a man based on the size of his hands. I am trying to calm down myself right now, as I don’t even know who this man is, but I am sure he wasn’t that someone I heard a while ago. He came from here, and it’s not where I heard that sound.
“Ssh.” He put a finger on his lips, signalling me not to make any noise, and taking back his hands from me. He closed the door slowly and locked it while I was watching him do it, behind him. It’s too dark in here, and I could barely see.
I took out my phone from my pocket to give me some light, but I hadn't opened it when he grabbed it from my hands, and I almost freaked out.
“Think carefully before you do something, Llaine.” My brows automatically formed furrows in between, as I heard him say my name. And most importantly, I know that voice. I am very sure that I already heard that voice.
“Quinn?” We were both whispering and trying to be as quiet as possible so no one could hear us from outside.
He didn’t answer me, but the screen of my phone suddenly lit up and he covered it fast which answered my question. He’s really Quinn. So we’re probably inside the men’s restroom.
“Sshh.” I became alerted as he signalled to keep quiet again even though I am not even speaking.
The doorknob was moving. And I think someone’s trying to open it. I automatically placed my hands on my mouth as I am trying to calm myself down and trying not to cause some noise. My hands are shaking, and I am trying to control my breath. I think, even my breath right now is making so much noise as it was so nerve wrecking in here.
“Shit.” I heard someone from the outside say that, and the doorknob stopped. I think he’s already gone. From the voice I heard, that’s from a man. Once the doorknob had stopped moving, I heard footsteps getting away from us, and he’s dragging something. That’s the sound I heard earlier. It’s somewhat so heavy as he was moving so slow. His every step makes my heart pound so much.
Not long after, I heard the other door open up, from I think where I came from a while ago - To the Women’s Restroom. I am still holding on to my mouth, stopping myself from screaming, because I can feel it, anytime soon, I will be screaming to death, or if not, I will just die here as I am not breathing normally right now.
“Calm yourself.” He said as he was already looking at me. He even held me on my shoulders, making me feel safe, but I can’t. In the first place, I don’t even know him. I only met him by Luna’s connection, and I can’t trust people that fast. Not in this kind of situation.
I inhaled deeply and exhaled, trying to relax myself, and trying to trust this man whom I had just met earlier this day. When I calmed myself a little, he removed his hands on me.
There was a sudden dripping of water, splashing continuously on the tile floor, making a noise all over here. I looked all around me to find where it was coming from.
“It’s coming from the other side.” He said in silence, whispering, which is enough for me to hear and understand him.
I didn’t even bother to speak as I am really nervous right now. He might hear us, or maybe he’s with someone who’s looking out so he couldn’t be caught, and I am afraid about that possibility. Like Luna had said, they might just be outside, listening. From where we are right now, we are not safe, so it’s better for me not to speak. I might can’t control myself.
After a while, I heard the door closed from outside. He’s maybe gone and finished his business, which I am really curious about. I could hear the footsteps again, going distant from us, and slowly fades away.
“Are you alright?” He asked me, to which I answered him with a nod. I am still catching my breath and couldn’t even say a word right now.
“Alright. We’ll go out after making sure no one’s around.” It seems like he isn’t scared at all. I am the only one who’s having a hard time here.
“H-how do we do that?” We couldn’t even get out of here to check the outside. The man may be out of sight, but he’s probably waiting for us to get out. And I could still hear the water from the Ladies Restroom, it’s still flowing down the showerhead.
“I don’t know. But we need to get out of here. We should not stay here for too long.” He whispered.
I know that. But we could only check from the outside if it’s already safe to get out. And I thought he had a plan, but it turns out that we both don’t have any.
“Let’s just wait.” He said. Right. Because that’s the best option we have right now, to patiently wait.
The light from the outside had lit up suddenly and we both got away from behind the door. The light was coming through from the bottom of the doorway, and I heard someone open the door of the ladies restroom.
I held my breath again, as we’re both trying to figure things out from the other side.
“Aaaaahh” We both looked at each other. That was a voice of a woman, still screaming from the other side.
Quinn opened the door fast without thinking twice. As soon as he opened the door, he dragged me out of their restroom and went to the Ladies’ Restroom where we heard the scream. There, we saw the woman on the floor, shaking.
“Miss. Are you alright?” He helped her to get up, while I am holding my breath again. The woman was pointing her finger somewhere, and out of curiosity, I traced that. Slowly walking to get inside of the restroom.
“B-blood.” I covered my mouth as soon as I saw the blood flowing down through the sink on the floor.
“Stop.” Quinn held me to stop. I was going to see the cubicle where the blood was coming from, but he stopped me.
Instead, he slowly walked towards the cubicle and opened the door slowly, and as careful as possible.
“Oh My God.” The woman behind me screamed again in fear, but I held myself back. I am shaking, and I am really scared, but nothing’s coming out of my mouth.
“He’s dead.”
