Chapter 3 - The Tragedy

The fight was finished and we have lost , lost because our alpha and luna is dead. We have defeated the enemy but to lose so many of our brothers and sisters especially our father Alpha Dominic and mother Luna Ellie is devastating. They have love our pack like one big family and now , they are all gone and the only thing left is betrayal and hatred .......

Alpha Dominic mind link his Beta Arthur “ Go , take Sofia , Nick and Luna Ellie to the pack house “ All around him , werewolfs are fighting , bodies litter the ground some in human form while others in werewolf form . The ground is covered with blood and body parts like in a horror movie , they are being attack during the daylight while many of the she wolfs and pups are still sleeping while the warriors are having a hard time defending their territory due that almost all of them are suffering from stomachache “ someone have tampered our water or food supply as we are now vulnerable and can’t fight back properly“ .

“ No father ! “ Nick replied in mind link , “ I won’t leave you “ .

“ But Alpha- “ Beta Arthur started to say

“ At least save Ellie and Sofia “ Alpha Dominic commanded in alpha which Beta Arthur have no choice but to follow.

“ Yes Alpha “

Beta Arthur went to the pack house where he finds Luna Ellie helping some guards to direct and help the she wolfs and pups to the basement to hide. The pack house is build to withstand invasions , with multiple level of basements for sanctuary , stores of foods and silver doors so that werewolfs can’t go in without permission.

Luna Ellie said worriedly upon seeing Beta Arthur “ How are the Alpha and Nick ? “

“ They are fine , seems they are not inflicted with the stomachache that is going around . They are on the north side of the territory near the borders of Silver Moon Pack. “ Beta Arthur explained . “ the Alpha send me to assure your safety and of Sofia “

“ Sofia is already at the basement , after this batch , we will be closing the door “ Luna Ellie replied .

“ Then I will going back to the Alpha “ Beta Arthur nodded and went back to the fight.

Luna Ellie went back to the task and started praying to the Moon Goddess for the safety of the Alpha , Nick and the whole pack.

Present Day

“Nick , are you gonna lead the training today ?” asked Sofia softly, as her brother look deep in thoughts

“ No , after the meeting , I’ll drop by the training center “ Nick replied .

At the breakfast nook in the kitchen , both sibling is eating breakfast . “sitting here always reminds me of mother ... you know , she always have breakfast ready when we wake up and also just cook so much that father always teases her if we are having guests over “ Sofia mused with a soft smile “I still miss them , even after this time “

“ I’ll be at the pack office “ he stood up abruptly and turn to go , while mind link his beta and gamma to start the meeting. Nick always avoid talking about their parents , as if it will erase the memory of what happened.

The pack office was previously his father’s and as a tribute , he didn’t change anything . Brown panel wood walls , big mahogany table and leather chairs. Lots of books lined two walls of the room with a lot more of papers and documents across the table. It remind him of his father working here when he was younger , teaching him the rope to as a future alpha.

Knocking on the door , His Beta , Gavin Black , stood with the pack’s gamma , Ken White . Gavin is Nick’s best friend and his father was the former beta. While Ken is the direct opposite , standing at 5’8 with blond hair and blue eyes .

“Good morning , Alpha “ they both said respectfully.

“Come in , and let’s start the meeting” Nick replied

Every morning , there is a meeting to discuss the situation of the pack , be it were training , reports of rouge sighting or any problem within. Nick always hold a tight reign on everything to ensure safety of the pack and that’s why all pack members are requested , be male or female , old or young , to train , be for self defense or fighting levels. This make their pack , The Red Moon Pack , one of the most fearsome pack in the US. All werewolf , be rouge or not , knows not to trespass on their territory . Alpha Nick doesn’t give second chances , he always kills any intruder before asking. The pack is well known to be deadly , ruthless and fearless.

“There are some sighting of rouge at the northern part of our territory near the pack park but no trespass had occur yet “ Gavin reported. “We already tighten the patrol and increase the security on that side of the border” he continued.

Alpha nodded as to signal he agreed with the action. “ How about the training of new ones ?” turning to Ken .

New ones are pups 8 to 12 years old who are trained to be able to at least defend themself in tight situation.

“At least they know how to run fast “ replied Ken , “ I tell you Alpha , I don’t know why you saddled me with the training of the youngest as they only know how to get in mischiefs “ Beta and the Alpha laughed at the pained expression on Ken’s facial expression.

“It’s because you lost on our bet “ Gavin kiddingly said “Next time , don’t bet if you are gonna lost”

“ It’s because you cheated “ Ken replied “ you run before the go signal sounded . “

“ Of course I did , I don’t want to lose the bet “ Gavin said jokingly .

“ It will be for a short while , until trainer David comes back next week “ Nick inserted while consoling Ken “ Let’s go back on our meeting “ After that , all turned serious once more. After a while , Nick ended the meeting and left to supervise the trainings.

Along the way to the training grounds , Nick was greeted by pack members respectfully , pack members know that the alpha will do his best to always protect the pack . Unmated she-wolfs also can’t help be attracted to the Alpha . Since that fateful day when he was betrayed by his mate , he stop believing in mates and rather have a chosen mate . He feels that having a mate weakens him and distract him on his main focus for the safety and protection of the pack and his sister.

At the pack training center , pack members are divided by age groups and lead by a trainer. The youngest age group is lead by Gamma Ken since the regular trainer is traveling under the Alpha’s business. Little girls and boys werewolfs are running around , disregarding the instructions of Gamma Ken , until he gave up and just invent a game to build up their stamina. Since this age group is non shifters , they are taught self defense and to strengthen their body. Next age group are 12 to 16 years who are taught to fight with and without weapons. They are pre sifters as normal wolfs shift at age 16 except high ranking wolfs especially wolfs with alpha blood lines. They tend to shift by age 14 . When they reach 16 years of age and shifted , that’s the time they are trained to fight in wolf form. Since what happened 2 years ago , the pack members tend to isolate themself from other packs resulting to intensive and high numbers of trainee .

Standing at the head of the training center , Alpha Nick is satisfied and very proud of his pack. Beside him , Beta Gavin commented “ They looks much better than yesterday , I think they are trying to impress you “ .

“ Impressing me or not , I am just happy that they have improved a lot “ Nick replied “ How is the training of Sofia’s ? “ .

“ I feel that she is improving but she still young and she is doing her best “ Gavin answered. “ having an alpha blood will help her a lot “

“ I just want her to be able to at least defend herself , I don’t want to lose her too “ Nick sighed sadly .

Meanwhile , a shout was heard and they both turned to see Gamma Ken dripping wet and shouting at some of the wolf pups . A wolf pup played a prank on Ken and now laughing with other pups while shoving each other.

“ You go save Ken , I’ll go back to the pack house for some work “ Alpha Nick turned to go while Gavin shaking his head went to save Ken from the mischiefs of the young wolfs. At least the wolf pups are having fun and tend to lighten the mood .
