Meeting Mr. Abbott

After we had eaten dinner. I got the twins bathed and ready for bed. Levi went and did the evening chores and Rose left to go back home. Rose had arranged to come back over tomorrow to look after the twins whilst I go into town and meet up with daddy's lawyer.

After I had put the twins to bed and kissed them goodnight, I took a shower myself, got my pajamas and went back downstairs to watch some TV. I grabbed a pad and pen from the kitchen drawer and settled myself on the sofa. I started to write down everything I had to do tomorrow. I don't know when I fell asleep, but I woke the next morning curled up on the sofa. I was covered with a blanket, so I'm guessing Levi had covered me sometime during the night.

I got up and made my way to my bedroom to take a shower and get changed. After I had dressed, I headed to the kitchen to put the coffee pot on and start making breakfast. Not long after, I heard the twins moving around upstairs. I heard them open their bedroom doors and run to the stairs.

"Mummy," they both shouted.

"Down in the kitchen my lovelies, don't run, or you will fall." I shouted back.

I heard them come down the stairs, then they came into the kitchen. They walked over to the stools and sat at the island waiting for their breakfast. Levi followed down shortly. Levi went straight to the coffee and poured himself a mug. I dished up sausages, bacon, hash browns, eggs and beans with toast. Levi finished first, then said he was heading out to start his chores. He told me Rose was going to be here by 9.30am, so I would need to get ready.

I cleared up the breakfast dishes and put them in the dishwasher and took the twins up to get them washed and dressed. I was just getting Jay dressed when I heard Rose call up the stairs. I sent the twins down to Rose while I showered and got dressed. I put my boots on and grabbed my purse. I headed downstairs to say goodbye to the twins. I headed out to the car and drove into town. First thing I needed was a new sim. I parked in town outside the store and went inside. I got myself a new sim, then headed to the lawyers office.

I found my way there and went inside. I took a seat and waited for the lawyer. I just wish this was over already. I just want to get back home and start sorting through dad’s office. An office door opened and Mr. Abbott came out.

“Sydnee! Come this way please!”

I got up and followed him. He told me to take a seat. While he sat in his chair. He pulled a file out and told me he was going to read dad’s will.

“First of all, Sydnee, I want to give you my deepest condolences. As you know, I have been your parents' lawyer since I took over from my father. If it is alright with you, I will read the will now.”

“OK,” I replied.

“This is the last will and testament of Mr Brian Myers. I Brian Myers of Shadow Moon Ranch here by leaving all my properties and assets and any financial money all to my daughter Sydnee Myers. In the event of my death, I hear by releasing Sydnee Myers trust fund to her fully.

The trust fund totals 3. 7 million Dollars.

Shadow Moon Ranch estimated values 7.9 million Dollars.

Total money in bank accounts 75 million Dollars.

I just sat there listening to what he was saying but not really taking everything in. I waited till he had finished reading the will.

“So Sydnee, did you understand everything?” he asked.

“Yes… yes I have.”

“Ok then. I need you to put your signature on these documents then everything will be finalized.”

I got up and took up the pen and signed where he wanted me to sign.

“Alright then, that seems to be in order. Now if you take this letter to Mr Williams, the bank manager across the road, he will sort out everything else to do with the Ranch funds and your Dad's account,” he told me.

“Thank you, Mr Abbott.” I took the letter and I smiled and left the office.

I got outside the lawyer's office and took a deep breath. I headed towards the bank. When I got inside, I walked up to the Customer Service Desk.

“Good afternoon, how may I help you today?” a lady said, smiling at me.

“Oh, I’m here to see Mr Williams please, my name is Sydnee Myers,” I told her.

She picked up the phone to make a call. After a couple of minutes she asked me to follow her. We entered a lift and she hit the 4th button. We reached the fourth floor and walked towards the only office that I could see at the end of the passageway.

Knock! Knock!

“Come in.”

“ Good morning Mr William! I’m Sydnee Myers.”

“Good morning Miss Myers, please take a seat.”

I sat down in the chair opposite him and handed the letter from Mr Abbott.

“Now Miss Myers! I taking it that you are here to sort out your father’s accounts?”

“Yes, that’s correct.” I said.

“Well then let’s get started.” He smiled at me.

After 1hr and 10 mins later I finally finished signing all the paperwork related to my dad’s accounts. New accounts open, transfers of money and my trust fund bank account handed to me. Forms for requesting new bank cards in my name for the Ranch Business accounts. I could finally finish up and go to the store and get what I needed.

I went to the feed store to pay the bill for the animal feed and to close the credit account. I opened a new account for the Ranch in my name. Picked up some more feed and asked if they could deliver it to the ranch. Whilst I was there, I looked around the clothing section and brought a new pair of jeans for myself. After paying, I made my way back to my truck and headed back home.

When I arrived, the children were out in the backyard playing. Rose was sitting at the picnic table watching the twins. I went inside and headed up the stairs towards my room. I changed my clothes, then went back downstairs heading towards the backyard. The twins looked up, saw me and ran over to me.

“Mommy, we missed you,” they said in unison.

I lent down and kissed both the tops of their heads.

“I missed you both to my darling’s.”

The twins ran off back to what they were doing.

“Rose, are you alright watching the twins for a while longer I want to go and start sorting through dad’s office?”

“Go ahead, we’re good out here,” She said, then smiled at me.

I got up and made my way to the kitchen to get a coffee then walked to dad’s office. First off I opened the laptop and found the account files on the desktop. I opened each one, taking a look at the figures. Dad was pretty thorough. He had the accounts on the laptop but also kept paper copies. I saw the files on the desk, knowing that Levi probably put them there. I picked up one file and saw that the figures and dates matched what was on the laptop.

I lent back and looked out of the window.
