I Laughed and Laughed With Them

1597 Words
Aiden pushed his way into the prison medical ward, just in time to meet eyes with Veronica, who was sitting on the opposite side of the door. Veronica was sitting upright in a chair - and that was all she could do; in addition to the handcuffs and shackles, the riot squad guys had tied two loops of leather straps around her, keeping her securely tied to the chair as a temporary measure of control. She had just gotten into a fight with someone and hadn't yet deactivated her transformed state, and her wrinkled brow and gritted teeth were quite a bit intimidating. "Warden!" The four wardens guarding Veronica saluted Aiden in unison - guarding a werewolf, this amount of numbers was a must. "'Long time no see." Aiden walked over to greet Veronica with his hands behind his back, "At this rate, we'll be able to have a casual lunch together every day until your execution." Veronica c****d her head to the side as if she didn't care to talk to him. "Ouch it hurts, I've broken my nose on this b***h, Warden why don't you hurry up and hang this murderer?" The shrill voice rang out from the other side of the room. Aiden looked twice in the direction of the voice and saw Catherine, a thief with a bruised and swollen face, pointing furiously in this direction, and not far away sat Anna, a pirate with the same bruised face, while the prison doctor was giving medicine to both of them. Aiden cast a questioning look towards the doctor, the other waved his hand, "It's fine, they're all fine, it's just a flesh wound." "What about the other one?" Aiden asked about Faye's condition. "Prisoner 3307 is lying in there, still unconscious, but nothing serious, just a slight concussion." The prison doctor gestured inwards. "Prisoner 3308, you must commit an offence once a day don't you?" Flender stood up to Veronica with a grim face and tapped her palm with an iron bar. "You weren't there, so how do you conclude that it must be me who commits the offence?" Veronica asked rhetorically, lifting her face in a provocative manner. Flanda took a deep breath, pressed down her anger, and turned to Aiden to propose in a whisper, "Warden, this person is a bomb, if we leave it unattended, we'll be in trouble if she kills someone again one day. Take advantage of her offence this time, put her in the brig and get someone else to watch her, it'll only take a month or so anyway." Flanda's proposal was kind of an old-fashioned way of doing things, prisons would always have some troublesome inmates who were prone to making trouble as soon as they stayed with other people. Usually the guards would try to transfer such inmates by any means possible, either by finding a reason to separate them from the other inmates. In Silver City, there was no women's prison that could accommodate pure-blooded werewolves, so they couldn't transfer Veronica, and the most stable way was to put her in the solitary confinement room before execution - of course, solitary confinement needed a reason, and it just so happened that a private brawl was a good reason. The two beast ears on Veronica's head twitched, and Flanda's voice was muffled, but she heard it anyway - with beast ears, a werewolf's hearing was far superior to a normal human's. She snorted at the sound, but still said nothing. The hung-over duo sitting on the other side of the room couldn't hear, but they could still guess through the Supervisor's demeanour that they were preparing to hand down disciplinary action to Veronica, and both of them unanimously revealed a few wicked smiles. However, Aiden shook his head when he heard Flanda's proposal: ''There is no need to rush to deal with it, let's find out what happened first. Separate all four parties for individual questioning, Flanda you go and question the two in room six, I'll question these two in room thirteen." Separating multiple suspects for separate questioning, repeatedly asking about the events and details of the matter without any details, and then determining who lied by comparing the testimonies was a relatively basic interrogation technique. If the suspect didn't conspire with his companions beforehand before lying, it would be easy to get away with it. As soon as the words left her mouth, Veronica glanced at Aiden in surprise, and the duo in room six also changed their faces. Flanda hesitated slightly, but still obeyed the order, "Yes, understood." "Wait a minute Warden! Why should we be interrogated after we've been beaten?" Catherine protested loudly. "Doesn't that favouritism even come with a disguise? It's so nice that you can do whatever you want with a pretty face. And yeah, the warden is a man too!!!" Anna followed suit and shouted conspiratorially. "You two-" Flanda was just about to sternly reprimand them when Aiden raised his hand to stop her, and then spoke nonchalantly towards the two, "Prisoner 3294, Prisoner 3295, you guys, are you planning to teach me how to do my job?" The two froze for a moment, but then both burst out laughing without skin. "Aigoo, that's terrible, is the warden going to punish us for no reason?" "It's decent of the warden to casually use his private power to trample on the human rights of prisoners! I wonder what other people will talk about if it gets out by human rights organisations." They shouted even more arrogantly, these two men, one was a former horse thief leader and the other was a former pirate captain, both were ruthless characters who licked blood from the edge of their swords, taking pleasure in going against law enforcers, and not caring about ordinary means of punishment. They have stayed in many prisons, the authority of the prison guards to eat more thoroughly, this kind of dead pig is not afraid of hot water rogue style is their masterpiece, often can be the prison guards tossed to no temper. This time they were transferred to this Rosebud Iron Prison, and they also intended to rely on this tactic to give the warden here a downward spiral. But Aiden didn't have any intention of getting angry, he just smiled at them: ''Don't worry, I'm a very fair person, of course I won't punish you guys without a reason, but I can still do it by changing the room for you guys. Room three's 'Crazy Hailo' is quite lonely living alone, you guys are so articulate, how about going to share a room with her?" These words made the two men's faces immediately lose their blood colour. "Crazy Hailo" was also a famous problematic person in the core area of this prison, she was a crazy cult priestess, her speech and behaviour were never normal, and she would often laugh maniacally in the middle of the night while dancing around like no one was watching. She is also an avid cultist, drawing strange runes in blood on all sorts of places (including other people's bodies and beds) and performing rituals of her own, sometimes trying to gouge out other people's eyes while they're asleep and use them as sacrifices. What's worse is that she has been blessed by the evil god she believes in, so that anyone who does violence to her will immediately suffer the same amount of damage, while the madman herself is happy with the pain. In other words, ordinary people can't touch her at all, they can only tolerate her. No one could spend more than a day with this madman, and the last female inmate who was put in a room with her nearly hanged herself. "There's also 'Carmilla the Tyrannosaurus Rex' in room ten, 'Evantha the Filthy-Blooded' in room eleven, and the ghoul Silk Rhine in room nineteen ...... "Aiden read out a list of names that would make most of the inmates in the Core's head spin as if it were nothing, looking back and forth at the two, "Which one do you want as your new roommate? I can let you choose." The two who had been screaming a minute before were instantly silenced. Seeing this bullying look of the two, Aiden laughed coldly, "Don't compare the Rosebud Iron Prison to the 'hotel' you guys used to stay in, the felons in the core area, casually pulling one out of the level are not sure where they are higher than you guys, I'm talking to them, laughing and joking. I've tamed so many troublesome magical girls, you guys are worthy to challenge me? I don't need to ask for your permission to arrange anything, just co-operate with me and we'll be fine. If you have to go against me ......" He deliberately paused here, looking back and forth at the two, his eyes took on a bit of coldness, "Beware of dying by my hand!" Catherine subconsciously dodged his line of sight, while Anna bit her lip and glared at him, but was unable to say a word. Evil people still need to be rubbed by evil people, Aiden knew very well that these knife-edge criminals regarded the law as nothing and only believed in the rule of the weak and the strong, the best way to deal with them was to use stronger criminals to deal with them, while he only needed to find a way to restrain the most troublesome group of criminals. "Take them away!" Aiden turned back to Flender behind him and ordered.
