Law Enforcement Transactions

Hearing this, Carmilla grinned a knowing grin, "Not bad for a proto-mounted cop." Aiden signalled with his eyes for Veronica to explain herself, obviously Veronica was aware of some inside information. Veronica understood and opened her mouth to give Aiden an explanation, "A year ago when Carmilla was imprisoned, the Mounted Police were preparing to lay their hands on the Blood Hand g**g, the most powerful g**g in the old city, and at that time, it was the Director who personally supervised the project. To destroy a g**g, you have to break down the cadres within the g**g one by one, and Carmela was on the list. The cadres of the gangs usually carry a lot of suspicion on them, but it's not easy to convict them according to procedure. I think the mounted police team has probably also sensed that this case is suspicious, but ......" "But in order not to waste the opportunity that could put a g**g cadre in jail, the Mounties decided to let Carmilla take the blame anyway, right?" Aiden picked up. Veronica nodded hesitantly, "The Mounties happened to catch Carmilla at the scene of the brawl the day before the body was found, and in that case it might have been easier to convict her. In contrast, it's harder to track down that it was an inside job by the Skull and Bones gang." Aiden finally understood the situation somewhat. In other words, at that time, after the mounted police team found out that Silk Rein's son had been beaten to death, they didn't actually directly determine that the cause of death was the injuries left behind by Carmilla's beating of the deceased the day before, but rather, they also took into account the possibility that the Skull g**g had beaten the teenager to death after the fact as a way of letting Carmilla take the blame. But for the Rangers at the time, pursuing the Skull and Bones g**g would probably be a painstaking effort - it would be difficult to gather evidence in the first place, and there was a high probability that the incident would be covered up by some minor player within the g**g in the end, without harming the cadre himself as the main culprit. In contrast, it would be easier to prosecute Carmela, after all, Carmela was arrested for brawling in flagrante delicto, whether it was the mounted police who were there to arrest her, or the other members of the Skull g**g who were arrested, all of them would be able to give a testimony that Carmela had beaten up that teenager. At that time, the mounted police team also happened to be focusing on targeting the Blood Hands g**g that Carmilla belonged to, so in order to make more efficient use of the gangster's teenager's death, the mounted police team ultimately chose to directly let Carmilla take the blame for this crime, and Carmilla wasn't some kind of white lotus out of the muck and dirt anyway. The tactics taken by law enforcement in this world don't always have to be by the book. Veronica was the elite of the mounted police force, and this was still very convincing coming from her. But that still didn't explain why Carmela herself hadn't chosen to appeal. "And what's your point in taking the fall for this?" Aiden asked towards Carmilla. Since it was a so-called deal, and the Mounties had let Carmilla plead guilty to this crime without appealing, it was only logical that there should have been some sort of favour given to Carmilla as well. "Those cops told me that it's only a matter of time before the Blood Hand g**g is overthrown, and that the Mounted Police have already put plans to close the net on other cadres on their agenda, and that by the time the Blood Hand g**g is finished for the reckoning, most of my previous crimes will be unearthed as well." Carmela said as she thought back, "But as long as I confess to this crime and honestly go serve my time, they won't pursue me any further." "And you believe that?" "I myself was a cadre of the g**g, I know in my own heart what the g**g's situation was at that time. At first glance it was still the most powerful overlord in the old city, but in fact it was already about the same as an old man with one foot in the coffin. The g**g's internal information had been leaked to the police time and again, and there was no telling how many undercover agents and informers had been planted. The emerging gangs are eyeing the old g**g's turf, but the g**g's top cadres are still fighting for power in the nest ...... " Carmela had a contemptuous smile on her face, "I went to jail for half a year, and the g**g was gone, faster than I thought. " In order to eliminate the Bloodhands g**g as early as possible, the Rangers seized the opportunity to send Carmela to prison and chose to make a deal with Carmela in order to keep her from continuing to appeal and pull the wool over their eyes. With the loss of Carmela as their ace fighter, the pressure on the Bloods to fight with other gangs has become greater. The police intentionally weakened the Bloodhands g**g, using the g**g's internal struggles to suppress the Bloodhands g**g's room for survival, and then gradually using undercover agents and informants to bring down the cadres one by one, and finally allowing this old city's most powerful g**g to be completely wiped out in just half a year. Only, in this event, there was an unexpected victim - Junior Bailey's mother, Silk Rhine, chose to turn herself into a ghoul after identifying Carmilla as the murderer of her son. "In other words, Silk Rhine did find the wrong person to take revenge on?" Aiden said softly. "Hmph, that stupid woman, she was tricked to death without even realising it." Carmilla looked disdainful. Aiden fell silent. In Silk Rhine's case file archive, it was mentioned that after her son's death, the Skull and Bones g**g gave her a pension out of gangster rules. But instead of using the money to cure her illness, she took the money and, through the introduction of a cadre from the g**g her son belonged to, found a necromancer to turn herself into a necromancer to complete her revenge. By common sense, it was most likely her son's immediate cadre that she was able to find. That is, the gangster cadre mentioned in that anonymous letter. In other words, not only was she deceived by the real culprit of her son's murder, but she was also guided by the other party to become the present inhuman and ghostly appearance to fulfil a hopeless revenge. "Shall we tell the culprit 3271 the truth?" Veronica asked in a thoughtful, careful voice towards Aiden. Aiden shook his head, "I'm afraid it's useless to tell her, she won't believe it. The basic requirement for creating a reanimated corpse is to transform the soul into a thoroughly resentful spirit, and it's best not to assume that Silk Rhine still possesses the sanity she had in life." The former Aiden's memories had knowledge of undead creatures. The immortality of a Returning Corpse stemmed from grudges, and a Necromancer creating a Returning Corpse would purify the hatred from before life, in other words, it would be programming Silk Rhine's soul to take revenge on Carmilla. Under this premise, trying to convince Silk Rein that Carmilla wasn't a murderer by virtue of persuasion was objectively almost impossible. That Cadre, did a rather desperate job. "What was that Cadre's name?" Aiden asked towards Carmilla. "Carlo Polpo." Carmilla replied, "At that time, the cadre in charge of stealing territory from me over at the Skeleton g**g was him." "Carlo Polpo?" Veronica reacted to the name. "You know?" Aiden asked her with a twist of his head. "Have handled cases on this man before. He's a high-ranking officer in the Skull and Bones g**g, a strong candidate for the g**g's next leader. He's a real scumbag and very cunning, the mounted police force has been checking him out but have not been able to get their hands on him." Veronica replied with a grimace. "Out of his depth, he was just a small cadre when he was stealing territory from me. It should be hard for you cops to settle him now without spending a decade or eight, but that's okay ......" Carmilla said with a sinister smile on her face, "I'll find a way to kill him if he's still alive when I get out. "
