Fate of Alphas

Screams and the thick smell of burning wood and brush aroused Kaydence from her slumber. She sat straight up in her bed, a reddish orange glow illuminated her bedroom. She darted her dark green eyes around the room, stopping on the window where she could see orange flames climbing up the side of the pack house. Her breath quickened as she rose from her bed, running to the door. She threw the door open, the sounds of screams below amplified. “Mommy!!!” Kaydence screamed running towards her mothers room. She saw the door was open, but no one was inside. She made a break towards the stairs, running downstairs towards the open front door. She caught a glimpse of her mother in her golden brown wolf form, fighting off a much larger grey wolf. She locked eyes with her mother, her mother eyes pleading with her to go hide. Kaydence found herself running towards her mother, she wanted to help her, but she was only 8 years old and hadn’t gained access to her wolf yet. For most of her kind, they didn’t gain their wolf until 18 years of age. Pure blood alphas and Blood Born alphas gained their wolves as early as the age of 14. Her mother shook her head at Kaydence, tears streamed down her face as she watched the giant grey wolf tackle her mother to the ground. Kaydence turned and ran as fast as she could to the woods to hide. Her mother or father would find her as soon as this was all over. As Kaydence ran, she stopped to take one last look at the pack house, which was now almost fully engulfed in flames. She ran deep into the woods, finding a thicket of old trees to hide in. She tucked herself beneath some roots of a tree, covering her ears and closing her eyes to block out the scene unfolding in her packs territory.
