The Royal Flush
Rina resisted the urge to roll her eyes as her best friend twirled around her small apartment. "This is IT! Rina! Our dreams are going to come true tonight." "It's just a club, Mary, why is it so special?" Rina said. She knew why it was special compared to all the other clubs in town, The Royal Flush happens to be the hot spot for the rich and the famous. Anyone hoping to score a rich beau wants to enter, it takes months of waiting before you get a chance to even try... unless of course you have a platinum credit card. "You know very well why it's so bloody special woman! I want to get me some hot rich guy who'll spoil me rotten. I wanna be able to live like the princess I was meant to be." Mary said, running her slim fingers through her light brown hair. "I will get in The Royal Flush, and I will get me a rich boy toy with or without you. But I'd rather reach my dreams with you, of course." She smiled and batted her green eyes. Rina looked at her friend, knowing pretty well there's nothing she could do but agree. "Well, it is nice to have someone taking care of you for once. I'm sick of you dating those deadbeat guys. I'll come with you if you promise me, you're never going to talk to that awful two-timing ex of yours." "I know you really don't need to get a rich boy toy Rina, your father's not as poor as mine." Mary drawled. "Just please come with me tonight, I can't do this on my own." Rina nodded slowly, "Meet me outside the club in thirty minutes. I'll just go home and change, okay?" "Okay. And I promise you, I will never talk to Maynard ever again." Mary said. "Don't ditch me, okay? I'll just have my pre club drinks, I wanna be black out drunk before the night's over, and the drinks there cost more than my college debt." Rina sighed at the thought of college debt. She really didn't have a problem with her tuition considering she was able to snag a scholarship through sports. Mary on the other hand, wasn't so lucky, she got her academic scholarship revoked after she failed physical education. --- Rina walked slowly towards her apartment, almost dreading having to accompany her friend to the club, she's not really a party goer. She'd rather spend her weekend at home, watching TV wearing nothing but her large shirt and panties. She looked long and hard at her reflection, trying to tell herself it's the best way to spend the weekend, at an expensive club where all the snooty rich people hang around and mash bodies. "Oh who am I kidding? Who wouldn't want a rich guy buying stuff for you?" She gently shook her head in dismay, her father didn't raise a weak willed woman. Everything she has now, she got by working hard and not expecting hand outs just because she's a woman. Rina knew it meant the world for her friend, however. It's not fair for her to bail on Mary just because she doesn't feel like going out tonight. Turning around from the mirror, Rina grabbed her go to black cocktail dress and got into the shower. Tonight, she'll make sure she's the best wing woman in the entire club. She'll make sure Mary's going to get that rich and hot boy toy she always wanted, even if it means Rina had to step out of her comfort zone. --- Judging by the crowd outside of the bar, a lot of people are feeling lucky that the chosen 50 aren't going to show up. Scanning the place, Rina noticed there's an abundance of women tonight. Walking towards a group of women wearing ill-fitting outfits, Rina took a deep breath before asking. "There seem to be a lot of chicks here tonight." One of them looked at her and smiled. "Oh hey, yeah. Kean Sommer just posted on snapchat that he's going to be on The Royal Flush tonight and paid for the whole place. So basically, ladies drink for free." "Yes!" Another one chimed in. "Plus, the paps said Ryan Silver's going to be here... which only means one thing." Rina looked at the girls silently. She really didn't care who they were and why they were there to begin with, but of course she has to know everything for Mary's sake. "Lance Jung's coming?" "THE Lance Jung is coming!" The ladies chorused. "I thought he said in his last i********: update that he's taking a long break after Lydia Prings called off their wedding to marry that basketball guy... that one guy in the soda commercial" "Sig Stive, ugh! I hate that guy! He's not even good at basketball." "He did win back to back MVPs." Rina said, almost immediately regretting what she said. To her, the guy may be a douche, but he's still one hell of a player. "It's got to mean something." One girl rolled her eyes. "So? He's got great team mates, besides, if he's so great, how come they're not champions this season?" "Right." Rina said 'Quit digging yourself into deeper trouble and just collect info for Mary.' Rina thought to herself. "But aren't you glad they broke up? I mean now you have a chance to be with Lance." "You know what? You're right, it's Lydia's loss, not ours." One of the ladies said, flushed with her pre club drinks. "I hope we manage to get inside, though." Rina nodded, deciding she's got enough information from the ladies, she brushed an imaginary dust off of her dress and cleared her throat. "I best be looking for my friend, she told me to meet me here." "Okay, well, goodluck to us ladies tonight." The girl who looks like the leader smiled and gave a weak wave to Rina. Talking to those ladies wasn't so bad, they weren't mean to her like the way she pictured they would be. In fact they were really nice, for people hoping to score almost the same hotties inside. Re-scanning the place, Rina was starting to think she was the one getting stood up by her friend. Did Mary have a last minute change of heart? Did that ass of an ex boyfriend corner her into getting back with him again? A thousand thoughts came flooding in Rina's mind. She's worried sick, what if Mary got too drunk and got into an accident while she was rushing to meet Rina at the club? What if Maynard kidnapped Mary because he wanted to force her into marriage? Rina's head was starting to spin around, how could she leave Mary all alone like that in her small apartment? There is no one else to blame but Rina. Just when Rina was about to call the police, her phone rang. Looking frantically at the screen and expecting it to be Maynard, Mary's deadbeat ex boyfriend, she saw the caller was none other than Mary herself. "Where the hell are you woman? Do you have any idea how worried I am?" Rina's voice was cracking up from all the tears she was trying to stop, she's just happy Mary's okay. "I'm soooo sorry Rina, I thought I could wait for you outside, but the bouncer said either I get my tiny behind inside or I lose my chance to go. So..." Rina couldn't help but smile. "It's okay, you want this." "I could just go out now." Mary's speech was heavy, meaning she's one shot away from passing out in the middle of the club. "I'm... I'm in the bathroom right now, so you... you can hear me properly. Damn! Kean so hot!" "Yeah, he is." Rina kept smiling, Kean Sommer, the media darling/vlogger/model/influencer... too bad it seems he's a closeted gay guy, trying hard not admit it. "He's so much better than that asshole Maynard." Mary said in a bitter fit. "You know, I shouldn't have lost it to that no good asshole." Rina felt a pang of sadness for Mary, she's denying it now, but it's obvious Mary loves Maynard so much. "Go get Kean then tigress." "I will! I'll seduce Kean so hard he's gonna wanna marry me tonight." Mary said. "You know what? We might even do it in the bathroom tonight." "Crawl before you walk, walk before you run." Rina said calmly. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves, okay?" "I'll show you who's sexy!" Mary yelled at her. "I'll get him... after I pee and puke. I think I drank too much pre club stuff. Didn't know I didn't have to spend a dime tonight." "All thanks to Kean." Rina said. "All thanks to Kean." Mary agreed. "Well talk to you tomorrow. I'm really sorry, Rina. Just. Just go home." Rina pinched the bridge of her nose, she knew if Mary had gotten slightly tipsy from her pre club drinks she probably didn't drive to the Royal Flush. "I'll... I'll wait for you. You know it's not safe to go home in a cab if you're that s**t faced drunk. You could get r***d or killed." "Or worse, I could get robbed." "Nice priority there Cinderella." Rina sighed. "Anyway, I'm already here bonding with the girls who didn't get so lucky, I'll just hang out and wait for the bouncers to shimmy you out, then we'll go home to my house and I can fix you tea." "You are so nice! I'd marry you if you were lesbian." Mary started to cry. "I swear!" "Stop crying and get your game face on, Mary. There's a Kean Sommer outside holding a cocktail with your name on it." Rina said, encouraging her already drunk best friend. "Stop delaying it, you're phone bill's gonna go over the roof if you don't hang up now." "Got it captain" Mary said, and without waiting for Rina's answer, hung up. Snickering at the thought of her friend in a drunken salute, Rina put her phone back into her small purse and was ready to walk towards the friendly women she talked to a while ago and hang out until the club closes at 6 AM. "Aren't you supposed to be inside to meet those rich hot guys?" A guy called out from behind her. Rina spun around and saw a somewhat cute guy leaning against a black BMW. The guy's a little round in the middle with a bulbous nose and flushed cheek. Aside from that, he's actually passable. "Ah well I wasn't lucky enough to earn a spot inside. I hear the moment Risa Idawa entered, the bouncers stopped letting the girls enter." The guy laughed out loud, as if hearing the funniest joke on earth. "No, not really. When Lydia motherfucking Prings and Sig the almight Stive came, she told the bouncers not to let other women enter. As if she's the queen of the world." "Well aren't we bitter." Rina said. "Ah well, let's admit it. Women coming to score don't really deserve to enter." "So why are you here then, Miss high and almighty? Aren't you here to snag you one of those hot guys?" The guy sneered. "Look, admit it, Lady, you're bitter coz you didn't get to rub elbows with those single hot guys inside." Rina was taken aback by what the guy had said, she didn't know whether she'd be insulted or humiliated. "I beg your pardon?" "Look, I saw talking all nice to those group of girls a while back. You know it's kind of a b***h move to go around being nicey nicey to them when they're in front of you, then talk smack once they turn they're backs." Rina sighed, he's right, how could she say those girls didn't have the right to enter, just because they want to party with those rich people. "Look, all I'm saying it. If you're whole life goal is to meet a rich guy, then you're probably going at life in the wrong way." The guy didn't seem impressed, instead he slapped the hood of the BMW, asking Rina to come sit with him. "I'm Landon, by the way. Ryan Silver's new driver." Rina walked towards the shiny BMW and sat next to Landon. Up close, he's actually cute. "So..." Landon looked at her as if trying to figure her out. "Let me guess, you want to ask if Lance Jung is in there too?" Rina nodded, not because she is interested in seeing him leave, but because she felt compelled to agree with Landon just so she can look at his eyes longer. "Too bad for you tootsie roll, Lance called Ryan in the car ride and said he'd much rather be in Incheon with his mother than party with these losers and see Lydia with Sig." "That bad?" Rina said, knowing what Landon was going to say. "That bad." Landon said, in a voice oddly mixed with hurt and anger.
