LEXI'S POV
As Chase and I had agreed, I went back with him to his condo. I sent a message to Papa, telling him that I’d be temporarily leaving the house. Based on his reaction earlier, I knew he wouldn’t stop me from leaving. It was probably for the best, to bring some peace to the house for now.
The entire ride was quiet. Chase didn’t bother me, likely knowing that I wasn’t okay after everything that had happened. Don’t get me wrong—I was pleased with Shiela’s reaction earlier, and I knew I’d shaken her world a bit. But I couldn’t bring myself to feel happy about Papa’s reaction. I should be used to him siding with Shiela by now, but it still hurt every time.
I have also decided not to go to work today. I informed Savina about it, but when she started calling me, I turned off my phone.
