I sit in my lodge, listening intently as our shaman, a wise and compassionate woman, speaks to me in a soft, gentle voice.
"Elijah, my son," she says, "I sense your concern and confusion. But you must know that Scott did not abandon the vision quest. Your father, Alpha Damien, asked him to quit due to his involvement with Kylie."
I feel a surge of surprise and disbelief. "What? But Scott was chosen by the spirits themselves. How could Alpha Damien do such a thing?"
Her expression is calm and understanding. "Alpha Damien's motivations are not for us to question, Elijah. But we must trust in the spirits' plan. Scott's path is not for us to decide."
I take a deep breath, trying to process this new information. I know that I must trust in the spirits and in Scott's destiny.
