The Hardcore Girl

PART I Author's POV Kinsley is a man of two daughters namely;Rosa and Melody .Rosa is the oldest while Melody is the younger one.Rosa is a smart girl and also sharp when it comes to social life and clever when it comes to academics. Melody on the older hand is brilliant,smart and clever when it comes to academics but is otherwise when it comes to social life. Kinsley looked after his daughters after the death of their mother and provide them with all their needs which make the daughters determined to make their father's proud. Life on the other hand prove to be tough for the girls and their father but we're able to make through. Rosa time came to go to S.H.S after passing with aggregate 15 in B.E.C.E .She the school of her choice and went there with the hope of making her future bright ,at that time to Melody was entering in J.H.S one so raising of fees wasn't that stressful. Rosa went to S.H.S and passed with 8A's and at that time to Melody was writing B.E.C.E . By the Rosa was preparing for the University, Melody results and she ten ones and first choice with science course. When Melody was preparing for secondary school,she received many advices from elderly people and she promised herself to abide by it. Melody ask Rosa her sister one day to brief her on her S.H.S life. Rosa started by saying "S.H.S is memorable but it also has some challenges" "Really I am more interested in the challenges"Melody said showing interest. "First, seniors are going to bully you second,peer pressure I hope you know what it is and lastly, you falling in love"Rosa started to Melody. "As for me I have made my mind not to cross the senior lane ,and I will make friends with students like me ; brilliant and smart and I will not try falling in love you know am hardcore"Melody replied proudly "Hei stop building castles in the air ,you do not know what is prepared for you in S.H.S " Rosa said to Melody. "As for me I do not care ,I will always be hardcore" Melody said boost fully. "Hei Melody the hardcore girl" Rosa mockingly said. The day came for Melody to go to school and as she arrived at the gate,she opened her mouth at the beauty of the school and how the school name is being decorated boldly on the gate. It name is;"St. Jude Memorial Senior High School".She went through the procedure with her father by taking the necessary things from the Senior Housemistress.She then took her things to her dorm assisted by a friend called Rachel. After the assistant, Rachel became Melody friend immediately since they were in the same dormitory and the same room as well as house. MELODY POV I need to make friends with students outside the dormitory. Now I do not even know what S.H.S has in store for me and I pray to God to help me in this unknown part of the world that i don't anybody. AUTHOR POV After the distribution of classrooms, Melody came across a girl called Calista and they become friends because she like Calista personality. One day as they were chatting, an issue came up "Calista which house are you"Melody asked. "Asante house" Calista answered. "Do you know a girl called Treasure in your house" Melody asked again. "Yes, why asked" Calista replied questioning Melody. "Nothing I was just checking out something" Melody said hiding her motive. MELODY POV I have to get close to her by going to Calista house in order to make friends with Treasure ". AUTHOR POV Treasure is a General Art girl and is in Asante house, she is cute,polite ,has the voice and also fluent in English. These attributes attracted Melody which made her show interest in her matter. One Sunday morning after church service, Melody went to Asante house and find Calista still on bed and asked why she is still on bed. "Why are you still bed, didn't you come to church service". Melody asked Calista. "She is sick "a sister told Melody. "So have you eaten anything"Melody asked Calista. "No"Calista answered. "So what will you like to eat"Melody asked looking concerned. "Bread and tea will do"Calista answered. So Melody went out and buy bread for Calista and make sure she eat the food which make the seniors around gossip "This form one girls are behaving as if they know each before" one senior said. "I jealous their friendship "another senior said as they left for outside. Melody heard them and shook her head. As time went on, Melody normally visit Calista house and they converse. In this way, she was able to talk to Treasure and became close to her. Due to the fact that the class are shared to groups, Melody noticed a girl called Pearl. She talks to her and find her awesome because she is funny and jokes alot. Melody is also someone who like going to dinning alot so one day on her usual sitting at the dinning table,she came across Wisdom a boy sitting in front of her who she got to know is in her class. she chatted with Wisdom and come to like him. It even surprise Melody that she is friendly with a boy because since J.H.S ,the only boy that was her friend was her bestie called Abraham. Melody introduce Wisdom to her friends and they accepted him wholeheartedly. Melody and Wisdom learn together and move around together that they become fond of each other but shy to express their feeling. Melody start to notice that she is beginning to have some strange feelings for Wisdom that she has never had before. MELODY POV What is wrong with me ? l am always happy whenever am with Wisdom and am always sad when he is not there. I always want to be around him. I am always jealous when he is with another girl. My always skip a beat when I see him. I also feel uneasy when he hold or look at me.This is getting out of hand ,I need to inform my sister when I go home during vacation. PART II During vacation, Melody confronted her sister Rosa "Sister Rosa something is wrong with me." Melody told her sister with a worried face. "What is wrong with you?"Rosa asked concerned. "I am starting to have strange feelings towards a boy in my class. "Strange feelings like how?" Rosa asked still confused. "I feel happy whenever am with him, feels jealous when I see him with another girl apart from my friends and my heart skips a beat when he comes near me." Melody expressed herself. " Melody the hardcore girl, you are melting."Rosa said teasingly. "Meaning what?"Melody asked. ''Meaning you are in love" Rosa retorted. "Never I cannot be in love,am always hardcore."Melody boostly said. "Well then you are melting."Rosa said. "And how did you come to the conclusion that am in love?" Melody asked. "It is because all what you expressed here shows you are in love." Rosa stated. "Really then am in trouble, I hope there is a medicine for curing this feelings?"Melody asked "Really!!! Melody don't tell me you are too dull in social life that you don't know that feelings are not cured."Rosa said irritated " Oh please don't scorn me pls tell me what to do."Melody pleaded desperately. "Okay I will tell you the options ,it up to you to choose from it ." Rosa explained. "Okay am listening."Melody said. "Either you distance yourself from him or accept the fact that you have feelings for him and date him."Melody stated. "I will distance myself from him then." Melody said with finality. "Are you sure Melody,you will be hurting yourself with this option."Rosa warned. "I have to do this because my studies is at stake."Melody revealed. "But Melody listen,you can lie to people but not to yourself." Rosa said with concern. MELODY POV How will I distance myself from him? That option will help me so that I can focus on my studies. I really need to do this or else I will regret. AUTHOR POV When school reopen, Melody thought about how to accomplish her task. The week that follows the week the school reopened,therr was sports activities so academics was not serious. During this activities, Melody and were chatting with Pearl when she realized that Pearl have noticed about her feelings for Wisdom. "So Pearl how will you know that someone one truly loves you?"Melody asked during their normal chatting alone. "Well you can really find out when you look at the person straight in the eyes with blinking" Pearl said with experience. "But how can you be so sure about that" Melody asked till finding difficult to believe. "Since the eyes does not lie and once the person does not blink his eyes then he truly loves you."Pearl said with fact. "Okay is that how you know that Richard loves you."Melody asked sincerely. "Yes and also out of experience." Pearl said with maturity. "Okay but I still don't understand."Melody said. "Is it Wisdom that asked you out?"Pearl asked. "What! and what made you think that it is Wisdom in the first place."Melody asked with surprise on her face. "Well last semester,I noticed how you behave when you are around Wisdom."Pearl revealed. "But I behave around him the same way I behave with any other boy."Melody said denning. "No I t is different and it even shows on your face." Pearl explained. "Well you are lying because I know I don't love him."Melody said still denning. "Well let me tell you something, you blush any time I mention his name which shows that you love him."Pearl said trying to make Melody accept the fact. "Okay you win I have feelings for him but I don't to date because he also loves me so I will just distance myself from him." Melody said with finality. "What! but you will hurt yourself by doing this."Pearl said trying to warn Melody. "But I have to do this."Melody said. As time goes on and Melody continue to chat with Pearl,she realized that now the burden at her chest as been removed since she tell Pearl everything that bother's her.She also start to avoid Wisdom.Wisdom who was wondering the reason why Melody is avoiding him decided to confront her one Saturday morning; "Melody please listen to me for once."Wisdom said when Melody placed her head on the table in other to avoid his gaze. "Melody, Wisdom is talking to you."Pearl said trying to teasing her. At this, Melody start to smile without looking up. "Is like she doesn't want to mind you."Pearl said to Wisdom. When Wisdom tried and Melody did not mind him he left and never bother her till the next day. Due to the love Wisdom has for Melody,he decided to confront Calista. "Cali pls ask Melody if I have wronged her in anyway."Melody pleaded. "What! she's not talking to you,well she is the one coming let me ask her."Calista said surprised. "Yes Melody, I heard you are not talking to him why ?"Calista asked "Nothing I just feel like not talking to him "Melody said avoiding Wisdom gaze. "Really like seriously you just decide not to talk to him without any reason."Calista asked not getting it . "Yes"Melody answered laughing. "You see what am talking about."Wisdom said leaving. "Well young lady talk to me or else I will not talk on this issue again."Calista ordered with authority. "You will not understand."Melody said. "Okay then I will let sleeping dogs lie."Calista annoyed. When Melody went for preps, she thought about it and decided to talk to Wisdom but don't know how to apologize. "Pearl please tell how to apologize to him."Melody asked. "No I will not tell you I warned you you know."Pearl said angry. "I know but now I see am hurting him and also feel confused and can't stop thinking about him." Melody explained. "Okay but I will tell you tomorrow now I need to get some sleep."Pearl said finally. "Okay thanks."Melody said leaving to her bed. Days went by and Melody never gather the courage to apologize to Wisdom so,she continue to avoid him until the friends talk sense into her one day. " Melody this act of your's need to stop."Treasure said. "Yes it has to ,it either you apologize or we remain enemies."Calista said with seriousness. "Yes I agree with that to."Treasure said in agreement. "Really you guys should not do me like this."Melody said feeling cheated. "Then ask for forgiveness."Treasure said decided. "But how will I apologize?"asked Melody. "No need we will help you."Calista assured. "Okay I'll apologize as far as it will sustain our friendship."Melody said defeated. "Good then this evening."Treasure and Calista said in unison. So that night Melody try to escape but was hold down by friends who accompany her to Wisdom. "Wisdom we know how our sister Melody has behave is not good but pls find it in your heart to forgive her."Treasure pleaded. "Okay but I still don't know the reason why she decided not to talk to me."Wisdom said sincerely. "Well let put that aside even if she cannot tell you the reason behind her drama, and Melody apologize."Treasure said pleading. "I am sorry pls forgive me Wisdom"Melody said without feeling remorse. "Okay I have forgiven you."Wisdom said to Melody. "So should I leave both of you to sort things out."Treasure said mischievously. "Stop that ,let go to dorm."Melody said with a smile and left with her friends. The next day, Wisdom approached Melody and hold her hand. Melody who was feeling uneasy try to let go of her hand which made Wisdom asked "Are feeling uneasy with the way am holding you due to the want me to let go?" "No I just want you to leave my hand."Melody said looking away. "Melody do know what you did hurt me?"Wisdom said sitting down. "But I was cool it."Melody said laughing to reduce the uneasiness. "Really you are joking right?"Wisdom asked with seriousness. "No but sorry if you feel hurt."Melody said. "Okay so if your friends did not force you to apologize, will you?"Wisdom asked. "No,I won't have apologize."Melody said laughing. "Then you will still be avoiding me still."Wisdom asked. "Yes,but do you know that the close rapor will not be there again even if we are in good terms?"Melody said certainly. "Really okay then."Wisdom said staring at Melody. When Melody realized that Wisdom was watching her someway, she start feeling uneasy and asked Wisdom permission to leave. When she left ,she breath in and out and thank God for letting her escape the tension. As days went by, Wisdom and Melody move along as before and their friendship became close and strong. One day, Wisdom told Melody that he has something important to tell her , Melody then asked if something is wrong but he said no. "Melody did you know there is something I have wished to tell you since?"Wisdom asked Melody during their usual meeting. "No but am all ears to hear what you have to say."Melody said. "I don't have the courage since it deals with the heart but I have to say."Wisdom said in suspense. "Tell me now you are making me curious."Melody said impatient. "Melody I really have feelings for you but I was afraid to tell you knowing the kind of girl you are."Wisdom confessed finally. "What?"Melody said in shock. "I also knew you think that Bridget and I have something in common because they've been teasing us but I am telling you there is nothing between us."Wisdom continue with his confession. Melody who was still shock and surprise can't hide it because; Bridget is a general art student who is in the same class with Treasure and who was trying her best to come between Treasure and Melody friendship she to jealousy.She is also in Treasure house which make her close to Treasure.Even though Melody don't like her personality,she mingle with her because of Treasure.It is also true that they have been teasing Bridget with Wisdom since they saw how they have become close. "Melody are you still listening to me?"Wisdom said jolting Melody from her shock. Melody just nodded since she can not find her tongue.As soon as Wisdom was done talking, Melody left him standing and went away to digest what she just heard. The next day, Melody talked to Wisdom with ease ignoring the fact that Wisdom told her something which should make her distance herself from him. "Hi how are you?"Melody asked Wisdom. "Am fine and you."Wisdom answered asking. "Fine look the teacher is on the way coming."Melody leaving to her seat and got seated for the day's lesson commenced. This go on for some weeks without Melody telling Wisdom her answer on the confession.Wisdom who was then impatient confronted her one day to know why she is keeping him hanging. "Hey Melody can we talk for some minutes."Wisdom asked when he saw Melody. "Why not let talk since there is no teacher in class now "Melody said giving Wisdom the go ahead. "Well since I confessed my feelings for you, you've not giving me any reply to know what to do but rather you left me hanging."Wisdom said "Oh about that I have forgotten to tell you that I can't date you if that is what you want but we can remain best friends since that is what I can offer you."Melody said avoiding Wisdom gaze. "Okay thanks for being straight forward and not beating around the bush."Wisdom said feeling disheartened. After this conversation, the tension between them seize and they became close friends. After some months when they were in F2 second semester, Wisdom introduced a girl to Melody as his girlfriend. "Melody meet Jewel my girlfriend."Wisdom said "And also Jewel meet Melody my best friend"Wisdom said making the two exchange gestures. During these introduction,deep down, Melody was jealous but hide it and acted normal.After the exchange of gestures, Wisdom left with Jewel to his sitting where they chatted and c***k jokes which make them laugh making Jewel move her hands around Wisdom body which make Melody furry and left the class to Treasure class. MELODY POV I know that girl is bad and I hate her so much that we can never get along. Let me go to Treasure place since she will keep me company. AUTHOR POV Melody got to Treasure class only to meet her chatting with her boyfriend,this get her more angry that she left her class to her classroom.When she got to the class, Wisdom and Jewel were some kind of romancing which hurt her the more.She then sat at her sitting place and since she has no one to talk to,she took her novel to keep her mind busy. This act goes on for weeks until Wisdom and Jewel got into a hot argument which make Melody happy. "Jewel listen is not what you think."Wisdom said. "And what do you think am thinking?"Jewel asked suspiciously. "That I and Melody are dating and not besties."Wisdom said looking down. "So you know about that one, what do you take me for?a fool no , now tell me are you only besties?"Jewel asked with seriousness. "We are only besties and nothing else."Wisdom honestly said. "Really then why do you steal glances at her when we are chatting and why do you feel uneasy when am holding or touching around her why?"Jewel asked. "See I love you only and pls put that aside and let move on."Wisdom said trying to let sleeping dogs lie. "Okay I will give you a second chance."Jewel said hugging Wisdom. Days turn into weeks and Wisdom and Jewel got along with each other forgetting their argument. One day, Treasure saw Melody sitting moody on her bed and approach her to find out what the matter is. "Why the sad face?"Treasure asked. "Nothing."Melody said moving away. "Come on something is definitely wrong, you are not always like this."Treasure asked still persistent. "Okay I am missing my classmate and class activities."Melody finally let the cat out of the bag. "I said that something is wrong, now that I know am okay now."Treasure said. "you're such a naughty girl."Melody said beating Treasure. "What up with you and Wisdom, he has been avoiding you lately, I hope you are not being naughty again."Treasure asked mischievously. "Oh, you have also noticed I don't even know."Melody said." "And have you asked him?"Treasure asked. "I don't need to ask him, I know it is because of his girlfriend."Melody said slyly. "And how do you know, don't tell me you are jealous."Treasure asked. "Because of the way she looks at me when am around them and point of correction am not jealous."Melody said with fact. "Okay then let go for dinning later we will ask him."Treasure said cutting the matter shut. "Good you almost made me forget let's go."Melody said and they left for dinning. Days turn into weeks and months.When they got to Form 3, Wisdom and Jewel broke broke up for a reason best know to them. Even though it really hurt Wisdom,he recovered quickly from it before W.A.C.E.E started. When W.A.C.E.E started, Melody learned so much that she almost grow lean , she left no stone unturned in order to achieve her goal. After the completion of the last paper, Wisdom took Melody to a corner and told her something that surprise her. "What do you want to tell me that you have to take me to a corner before telling me?"Melody asked irritated. "Melody how was the paper?"Wisdom asked ignoring the question. "It was cool, what about you?"Melody said questioning. "It was okay but to tell you the truth I have something to tell you."Wisdom said staring at Melody. "Well you know am always ready to listen tell me ."Melody replied jovial. "Melody I still love you and I can't get you off my mind."Wisdom confessed. "What! what about Jewel?"Melody asked surprise. "Well as time goes on,I realize that I can never love her."Wisdom said. "So why are you now telling me now?"Melody asked. "To know if you can give us a chance since we're done with SSS like you said."Wisdom said expecting an answer whiles looking straight into her eyes. "But still am angry with you for what you have done."Melody said running away without looking back. "Stop wait."Wisdom shouted at her but she didn't mind him. By the time Wisdom came back to the main compound, Melody has left already without leaving her number.So Wisdom went to Calista and asked for Melody number while Calista was busy smiling mischievously at Wisdom. Some days after returning from school, Wisdom called Melody who was surprise hearing the voice but kept it to her self. "Please who is speaking?"Melody asked slyly. "Guess who it is "Wisdom said. "If I may guess right it is Wisdom."Melody said honestly. "why him? were you thinking of him."Wisdom asked in disguise voice. "No but why do you ask?, and you have not tell if I guess right."Melody said irritated at once. "Why irritated at the mention of his name."Wisdom asked more Interested. "nothing and why are you interested in someone personal life?"Melody replied annoyed. "You guessed right it me Wisdom."Wisdom finally said. "I knew it was you due to the voice."Melody said testifying. They chatted for long still it was deep in the night and they retired to bed felling better after their last argument.This relationship goes on for some which even bonded their love more.Then one day, Wisdom decided to visit Melody to take her on a date secretly but told her that they are going out for dinner. When he got there, Melody was not done dressing up so he decided to wait for her in the living room.As he was waiting, Melody father came to the living room and was surprise to see a boy in his house and decided to engage in a conversation with him. "Who are you gentlemen?"Kinsley asked out of curiosity. "Good morning sir,I am Wisdom Melody's friend."Wisdom answered politely. "Oh you are the handsome gentlemen Melody have been talking about?"Kinsley remarked. "Really, I hope it's all good things and not bad things."Wisdom said. "No, they are good things."Kinsley said slyly. "Okay then."Wisdom said sincerely. They converse about football to politics then to what is happening in the society. They realized that they both have the same interest in certain things.While they were still discussing, Melody came out looking gorgeous and beautiful.When stared at her direction, he was surprised at the goddess she has turned into. "Well I can see that I need to give you some privacy now that she is here ."Kinsley said and left the duo alone. "Can we go now gentlemen and please don't eat me up with your lustful eyes."Melody said pulling Wisdom legs "Pardon me of my lack of courtesy, let's go."Wisdom apologize feeling a little bit embarrassed. "Okay apologize accepted."Melody said teasingly. They left to a nice restaurant where they ordered food to eat.As they were eating, Melody feel that Wisdom was staring at her so she compose herself well to talk since she always feel uneasy whenever he stares at her. "Why the staring?"Melody asked staring at his face. "Nothing, I was just wondering how beautiful and gorgeous you've become."Wisdom complemented. "Really if it is genuine then, thanks for the compliment."Melody said blushing. "Ok but try to be careful of those guys because I a jealous type."Wisdom warned. "And why the warning?"Melody asked mischievous. "It is because you are my girlfriend or am I wrong?"Wisdom asked explaining. "No you are not wrong but don't be jealous when am with my friends because they are mostly boys."Melody replied jovial. "Okay but I don't trust those guys."Wisdom said suspicious. "Then it is your problem to face."Melody teasing. They converse and enjoyed each other company that day making Melody came home smiling. "Now Melody the hardcore girl is melting"Rosa said teasing. "Stop aunty Rosa what are you talking about?"Melody said. "Well our Wisdom the gentleman has finally penetrated your heart."Rosa pointed out. At the mention of Wisdom name, Melody blushed. "See how you are even blushing."Rosa revealed. Hearing these, Melody laughed to ease herself from the embarrassment and left to her room to rest since she is tired. Days turn into weeks and Wisdom and Melody relationship became strong that they see each other everyday after work and they go out together at their leisure time.This goes that everyone around them thought that they will end marrying each other but they never knew that destiny has something else for them. SOME STUDENTS FROM THE WASSCE RESULTS HAVE BEEN SPONSORED TO ABROAD TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION. This was the headline on the news when Melody switch on the tv that evening.As they were mentioning the names, Melody heard her name and shouted to the hearing of everyone. "Daddy,Sis am going to abroad to continue my education is on the news everywhere."Melody said aloud making her father and sister Rosa coming out of the room to check. As they were thanking the lord, Wisdom call came she took it and entered her room to pick it up. "Hello Melody have you seen the News?"Wisdom asked immediately she picked the phone. "Yes and am so happy that am going to abroad to further my education."Melody said happily. "It is good news am happy for you."Wisdom said with a sad tone. "Why the sad tone ?"Melody asked disturbed. "Those that mean we will be separated for Seven good years?"Wisdom asked. "Yes that how it will be but you know I have to go my life depends on it."Melody said also sad. "I know but I will really miss you alot."Wisdom finally said. "I will also miss you too but promise to wait for me."Melody said with a vow. "Yes I promise to wait for you bye."Wisdom promised. "Bye good night sound sleep."Melody said convinced. Preparation started for traveling and within two weeks they were done and it is time for Melody to go.On the day of departure, Wisdom accompany Melody to the airport.Melody's classmates and friends and family were there to bid her farewell that day that she couldn't hold her tears since she will be missing all of them. As she climbed the aeroplane and she got to the entrance where she will finally enter, she looked back at her friends and family and love of her life Wisdom and bid them good bye. Wisdom also couldn't hold the tears and let it flow.When he saw the plane moving he knew that he was going to miss her alot . When Melody reached abroad, she get in touch with Wisdom.They talk and chat often.Sometimes he tells her how other girls have been trying to catch his attention and how he has always avoid them to avoid being tempted by them.Melody on the other hand also tell the same story and how she misses he so much. After five years of Melody departure, Wisdom parents start putting pressure on him to get married and that he is growing old.They tell him that they are growing old and they want to see their grandchildren.Wisdom on the other hand always try to tell them that he is waiting for Melody but they end up saying she never come back and marry him. After a year of pressure, Wisdom give in to his parents proposal and got married to a girl the mother choose for him.When Melody got to hear about it,it saddens that Wisdom gave up on their love so easy that he thought about her feelings. When Melody was done with her studies abroad she came back to help her motherland. She came with a man she decided on marrying since Wisdom disappointed her.When she got home, her father disagreed with her.
