Chapter 2 - Haven

“Are you okay?” A familiar voice startled me, “Ga-Gamma Alex” s**t I was definitely f****d the Alpha, Beta and Gamma we’re back from their specialised training, and I didn’t greet them with the rest of the pack. “I’m sorry I got you with the books, let me help you” he spoke out quickly as if he was the one that had done something wrong. “Th-theres no need Gamma Alex, it was my fault I’m sorry” I said without looking up at him again, I’d already be in trouble for looking at him once so staying bowed was the right thing to do. “Seriously let me help” “I-it’s o-okay” I stuttered out I’m absolutely terrified of the punishment I could get from him, just from the quick look I saw before you could tell he’s bulked with muscle. “Alex, who is it?” The second voice from earlier was coming our way and there’s one two people who could get away with not using his rank “It’s a young she-wolf” Gamma Alex had spoken to his friend whilst they were conversing with each other my curiosity got he best of me and I looked to see who the new comer was. Beta Reece, s**t, s**t, s**t I need to get out of here.

I tried to crawl away but I was stuck, in the panic of the books falling on me I stretched my leg out and it got caught under the book shelving, coupled with the books stacked on top and with hardly any strength in general I struggled to free myself. “Are you stuck?” I heard from Beta Reece “N-No Beta” yep I’m f****d, I just lied to my Beta. “Please let me help you” Gamma Alex begged to help me but I refused “What’s going on back here” oh f**k, the voice rumbled through me, vibrating right down my spine. I unconsciously shivered at the voice ensuring my head never left it’s bowing position. “Reece, Alex what are you two doing back here?” Sure enough I heard his footsteps round the corner “What kind of messes are you making over here Omega?” It was pure disgust in his voice and the addressing of me. “I’m sorry Alpha, I didn’t mean too” I all but whispered out, he seemed angry and I knew it was from talking to a wolf-less murdering Omega. “Chase it was my fault not hers” I could’ve died then and there Gamma Alex was risking everything to try and help me “Clean this up, filthy Omega” without any control over myself I replied with a short and quite “yes Alpha” and bowed even further to the ground, head practically touching the floor at Gamma Alex’s feet. With that Alpha chase had walked off, Beta Reece following close behind “I really am sorry” Gamma Alex tried to help me up again but I just flinched away remaining bowed respecting his rank. With that I heard him walking off following our Alpha and Beta.

It took me a good 30 minutes to clean up the mess and un-trap myself, one of the heavier books from the top shelf had fallen directly on my knee causing ripples of pain throughout my leg, I think I’ve fractured my knee cap just great. I hobbled my way out of the corner I was in to find the entire library isolated, given it was 20 minutes until the lunch break I decided to slowly make my way to the Omega lunch area, at least I could get to sit in a chair for a few minutes before the bullying would continue. “Where do you think your going” I turned around already in a bowed position, I knew the voice from anywhere. Luke and Tessa were in the hallway, it was Tessa that had spoken to me, when I didn’t answer Luke decided I need some encouragement *smack* “She asked you a f*****g question you ungrateful stain” *smack smack smack* “I-I’m sorry, I w-was just o-on my w-way to lu-lunch r-r-room” *smack* “You don’t need any food, your fat enough already” Tessa replied back with a sharp tongue “Y-you’re right I’m s-sorry” *smack* “Get out of our faces. RIGHT NOW!” I ran as fast as my broken body could take me after Luke had yelled like that. f**k tonight’s going to kill me.

I kept moving until I found myself outside, being the middle of winter there was a thunderstorm going on with icy winds coming from all angles. I found shelter beside some of the dumpsters outside the school building, although it didn’t protect me from all the elements it gave me the possibility of being dry on one side until I had to walk home tonight. Luck would not be on my side today as soon I heard footsteps approaching “Why are you outside in this” the level of authority proved to me that it was Beta Reece approaching. “Stop hiding, I’m not going to hurt you” this is not a sentence I ever trusted, no matter who it came from. “Reece, is everything okay?” I heard Alpha Chase calling out to him “It’s fine” he replied but never moved from where he had stopped. “Whoever is there just come out so you can go inside where it’s safe” if I wasn’t trying to be as quiet as a mouse I wouldn’t laughed in his face, I’m much safer out here then I’ll ever be in there. The footsteps soon continued towards me, in a panic I curled into a foetal position and bowed my head down, Beta Reece nudged me with his foot gently until I opened out of the position I was in although still bowed “Why did you not answer me?” His voice dripped with annoyance, but I couldn’t answer his question. “Go inside now!” Although it was no alpha command there was no room for arguing him with this, using the dumpster as a climbing tool I gradually got up from the ground my body shivered from both the pain and the cold. “Get some actual clothes you’ll give yourself hypothermia wearing tattered s**t like that” a typical wolf would never be at risk of this but because I’m wolf-less I win the poor immunity lottery. “Yes Beta Reese” I couldn’t help the few tears that slipped out, I was exhausted, my life sucked and I’m about 99% sure I would be killed tonight for everything I had done. I tried to step away from him and crumbled to the ground in pain, I guess it must’ve been the shock from the pain but i through up the little food I had eaten all over the ground, unfortunately for me it was also over the Betas shoes. f**k! “What the f**k!” Oh s**t “I-I’m-“ more vomit came up and again over his shoes “WHAT THE f**k IS WRONG WITH YOU?!” I cowered back and landed bum first into a dirty bin water puddle “I-I’m so sorry Beta Reece” soon two people arrived “Are you okay Reece?” Gamma asked without missing a beat “What the f**k happened here?!” Alpha Chase boomed out so loud I was sure the whole school would’ve been out surrounding us soon. “I-I’m sorry” I just let the tears flow, there was no need to stop them Beta Reece would demand my death and I’m sure Alpha Chase would happily comply. “Are you okay?” There was a gentleness to Gamma Alex’s question towards me, but I wouldn’t be fooled. “Please, please Beta Reece I-I didn’t mean it” I was currently begging for my pathetic existence. “You will pay for the damages you have caused” Alpha Chase stated, an easy punishment for someone who had anything to give. “A-alpha C-Chase, please I have nothing to give” I barely whispered out I would be surprised if even his wolf hearing would allow him to hear me. “Then you work it off” and with that he left. Beta Reece and Gamma Alex remained “You will come by the pack house this evening to begin working off your debt” and then Beta Reece left also. “Are you okay?” Still stunned by his gentleness I just nodded my head “Would you like me to take you home?”

It was this point I finally looked up at him, tears still streaming down my face I made out his gentle features. He had soft blue eyes which went perfectly with his dusty blonde hair, he had soft cheeks and a delicate nose. Easily 6ft towering over my 5ft4 frame, he was quite a dense build, definitely pure muscle but undefined muscle. I vigorously shook my head no, I was not deserving of any help I’m a murderer, I have also been forbidden to enter any vehicle by my father. While it’s not an Alpha command I dare not go against him in anyway.

“Are you sure you seem quite unwell, your shivering like crazy” what I’m assuming as fake concern dripped in his voice. Again I shook my head vigorously at his question. “At least let me help you up” when he reach for me I slid back further knocking my head on the dumpster behind me “I didn’t mean to frighten you” oh s**t, what if they start to suspect something “Y-you didn’t Gamma Alex I just slipped back. I’m okay thank you” I tried to sound out in as much confidence as I could. “Well okay, just go inside and get dry, you’ll feel better” with that he walked off to catch up with his friends who had left a while ago. I was stunned to the spot, I couldn’t tell if it was genuine concern for my care of if it was just an appearance that he was up-holding, although none of them were there I sent a bow in the direction they had left in signs of great respect and gratitude for the events that just unfolded, Beta Reece could’ve called for my death and there would be no reason to go against his wish.

After the events during the lunch hour I started attending classes, being the stain of the pack I never got to choose classes which broadened my own skills the only ones available to me were English, Maths, History, basic Science and parts of Home Economics. Home Economics was hands down my favourite although I never got the projects or opportunities the others got I at least got to learn to cook and sew skills that have kept me alive I believe. I’ve always wanted to do an art class, I’m just so fascinated by the talent people have, do I have some? I thought this to myself as I sat in the back row of a what seemed to be too short English lesson, this was until the door burst open to reveal a face I wasn’t game enough to look up at.
