Chapter 3

514 Words
Marius's POV I pinched the bridge of my nose before drawing in a lungful of air. The noise from the witches meeting gives me unbearable headaches, which I have walked out from. The witches are anxious, which is understandable, considering the latest discovery of the prophecy. It's just too soon and too much for me to handle at the moment.  *You okay there, man? * Typical Sawyer, constantly checking in on me as if I am a fragile vase. I know he meant good, but it's borderline annoying as a nagging mother to some point.  *Have they concluded to whom they are sending from their side? * The witches will be sending one of their own to Astreza for them to enhance the invisible and protective barrier that has kept Astreza safe for centuries.  *They are considering sending this new warlock... I have never heard of him before, but they seem to strongly vouch for him. * I can literally imagine Sawyer scratching his head when he informed me of the news. *Doesn't matter. Once you get his name, run it through our database and update Grey about the warlock. Tell him to send two of his men to follow that guy. I want an update on his movement and what he does every second, the moment he steps foot into Astreza. * I need to monitor every visitor movement in Astreza to keep the place a safe haven for my people. Once, I had neglected a visiting werecat. A quarter of the empire was destroyed, taking a part of my soul with it. I cannot bear to let the same mistake happen ever again, not under my watch.   *Already on it. Grey should be receiving the digital files in two hours and the entire docket by tonight. * I can literally feel him smirking.  *It's still early. Should we go grab lunch? I know a place that serves the best burrito and cappuccino. Also, they have a great selection of...*  *We'll go, but you're driving. * I cut him off before he can say anything further to manipulate me into saying words that will favour him and boost that pride of his. Never.  I met up with Sawyer at the car and tossed him the keys. I let my mind drift off, following the scenery as he drove towards his destination. As of late, I could barely feel anything for Earth and its population. Mankind has brought them on their own fate as the fight for power continues. I only care for my own people and their survival, should I come to the end of my time. My young meddlesome time has shown me that interference from the different races would only bring more destruction. Humans would never learn to share and stop hating each other. The car stopped after a distance and we got off the car. "Here we are! My second home on Earth! Let's go, the foods are calling for my soul." Where there's food, there's Sawyer. Giving a soft smile at his childish behaviour, we walked into the place.
