Destiny had kept them apart for centuries, but as the darkness closed in, the lines between his spirit world and her life finally began to blur.
sir, somebody is protecting her," Elden said. "All of our attempts have failed."
Santiago smiled and replied, "Yes, I know. It's him."
At Nora’s house,
Nora asked, "You are always with me and protecting me, aren't you?"
Aarav sighed. "Yeah, I protect you it’s my job. But I’m not always with you. You are the one who lives your life, and you make your own decisions, not anyone else. If there is ever a problem, I will be there for you."
"Oh," Nora murmured.
"Okay, I’m leaving. Take care of yourself," Aarav said.
Nora looked at him. "Oh, you’re leaving? How do you know when I’m in trouble?"
Aarav turned back with a faint smile. "Yeah, I can sense you."
Like every day, Nora got ready and went to the library.
"Hey, Luna," Nora said.
"Hi, Nora! Good morning," Luna replied.
"Good morning. Where is Leo?"
"Oh, Leo didn't come in today," Luna said. "He took a few days of leave."
"Is he okay?" Nora asked.
"Yeah, he's fine. He has exams, so he’s taking leave to concentrate on his studies."
"Oh, that's great."
"But it means you have extra work today," Luna added with a wink.
"Oh, that's okay. I can handle it," Nora said.
Nora smiled and started her work. While she was arranging the books, she noticed a strange-looking book that caught her attention. Suddenly, a girl approached her.
"Excuse me, ma'am," the girl said. "Can you show me the science fiction section?"
"Yeah, sure," Nora replied.
Nora led the girl and pointed toward the shelves. "The science fiction section is right here."
"Thank you, ma'am," the girl replied.
"It’s my pleasure," Nora said with a polite smile.
She turned and headed back to the shelf to finish her work. However, when she reached the spot where she had been standing. She looked for the book, but it wasn't there anymore.
Once Nora finished her shift, she said goodbye to Luna and stepped out into the evening air. As she walked, a sudden, cool breeze brushed against her skin, making her think of Aarav. she entered Elora’s Cafe.
Elora: Hello! Where have you been lately?
Nora: Sorry, guys. I've had a lot of work, so I couldn't meet you.
Magnus: Our lady is very busy nowadays, isn't she?
Nora: No, it's not like that.
Elora: Why are you late today?
Nora: Leo took some time off, so I had extra work to finish.
Elora: Okay, here is your coffee.
Nora: Thank you.
Magnus: Hey, I saw Noah today." (The girl Magnus loves.)
Nora: Where?
Magnus: At the bookstore.
Elora: Since when do you go to the bookstore?
Magnus: I went to return the books my dad borrowed.
Nora: Oh, did you talk to her?
Magnus: Yeah, I said hi.
Elora: Just a 'hi'?
Magnus: No, I actually talked to her. I asked what she was doing and stuff like that.
Elora: Oh, that’s a big deal!
Magnus: It is a big deal to me.
Nora laughed.
Nora: Do you believe in spirit guides?
Elora: Yeah, I do.
Nora: If someone came up to you and said he was your spirit guide, what would you do?
Magnus: Why are you asking? Did someone come to you?
Nora: If I said yes, would you believe me?
Magnus: No.
Elora: Hey, usually our ancestors protect us as spirit guides. It’s rare for a stranger to be one.
Magnus: Don't worry, Nora. It’s probably just the work pressure.
Elora: Nora, did you really see your spirit guide?
Nora: Yeah, I saw him.
Magnus: It must be an illusion, Nora.
Nora: Trust me, guys.
Elora: Hmm, okay. I trust you. When did you see him?
Nora: A few days ago.
Magnus: I still don’t believe you.
Elora: Is he one of your ancestors?
Nora: No, he’s not. He looks young, not old at all.
Elora: Oh! Is he handsome?
Magnus: Don't worry about it. It’s just your age—that’s why you're seeing handsome guys in your illusions.
Nora: Oh, stop it, Magnus. I’m very hungry. Can you order a croissant?
She decided to change the topic. Elora ordered the food for her.
Magnus: Yeah, just eat something. You’re only saying these things because you’re hungry.
After they finished their food, Nora and Elora said goodbye to Magnus and headed home together. When their stop arrived, they got off the bus. Elora said goodbye to Nora, leaving her to walk the rest of the way alone. As she walked, Nora couldn't stop thinking about Aarav.
