Cassius POV
We walked into her den, hand in hand. Her hand was so small and delicate compared to mine, but she was so beautiful and perfect.
I placed the blankets down on the bed as she sat on the hard, rock ground, obviously exhausted from today.
I picked her up gently, and smiled as she placed her head on my chest. I placed her on the bed, a soft sigh escaped her lips, my wolf sighed in content.
I pulled off my shirt and lay down on the bed next to her, she glanced up at me and her eyes widened. I smirked as she checked me out, she blushed bright red and playfully smacked my chest.
She snuggled up to me, the skin to skin contact with her drove Cane crazy as he thought of every dirty thought you could think of. Her eyes started to close and I laid there listening to her breathing and her heart beat. I eventually drifted off, me and my wolf content.
I woke up to her screaming, her panic stricken face and her eyes were wide with fear. She looked around frantically, turned and faced me her eyes were glazed over a far off look in them as if I was a ghost.
Aella got off the bed, grabbed some clothes and threw them on quickly. She walked out of the den hurriedly, I followed quietly. Cane and I were both alert, wondering what scared our mate so much to make her so shaken.
She crept through the silent, dark night never once did she look back and she only stopped at a river. She sat on the bank watching the world, I sat down beside her and she moved away hurriedly.
Suddenly I am hit with a rush of emotions: anger, confusion, fear and sadness.
I turned towards her and saw tears in her eyes, my first instinct was to hug her and I went to do just that but she went to push me away. I saw her reaction before she even did it and I grabbed her and swiftly placed her in my lap.
She snuggled into my chest, her heart slowed down as I rubbed her back in slow, calm circles and her quiet purrs rang through the still and silent night.
We sat on the cold, hard rocks for a while and suddenly she got up, took off her shirt and shorts before she jumped into the water. Her brown hair floated around her as she smiled up at me, a grin appeared on my face as she giggled light-heartedly when small bright green fish swam around her.
She climbed out and got changed, I glanced away as she put her clothes back on. Cane whined when I did this, but I didn’t know is my mate was ready for stuff like that just yet.
We walked back to the den, in silence, both in our own thoughts. The rising sun signified the beginning of the day as we entered the den, Aella grabbed her back pack and we walked to the café. She waved to me, but before she could leave I grabbed her arm and pulled her flush against me.
Her breath hitched as she looked at me, fear was evident in her hazel eyes.
"What's wrong Aella?" I asked softly, she just shook her head and turned away while she tried to pull her arm out of my firm grip. "Please tell me what's wrong, maybe I can help?"
"Please I don't want to get hurt," she cried with such pain that it made me want to hurt whoever caused her hurt and aching.
"I won't hurt you baby, I love you." I explained and she burst out in tears, she settled after a minute and she set a stony expression on her face, she painted herself as an emotionless warrior.
"No, no you don't love me. No one ever does." Aella whispered the last part, but I heard it and it broke my heart.
"What happen baby girl?" I ask gently, and she shook her head firmly and pushed away from me.
"Nothing Cassius, just leave it." She answered bluntly, her tone final as she gazed up at me. I could tell her defences had gone up and dropped it.
I hugged her tightly, and she leant into me, I told her that I would pick her up when her shift finished.
I walked away, but all I can think about is her pain and how broken my angel of a mate was.
I arrived back at the pack house in under 5 minutes and I didn't see anything out of place since I left, I smiled a small smile until Casey strode up to me.
She sniffed the air, and she scrunched up her face in disgust.
She looks better this way, I think more like who she is one the inside. I explain to Cane and he laughed in reply.
"Aella's scent is on you." She stated, I rolled my eyes and walked away, not wanting to have an argument with her when I could be making everything perfect for my angel.
"Are you sleeping around with her? I knew she loved all the hot guys, but how did she get in your league?" She asked, my anger boils over like a kettle tipping over.
“No one disrespects my mate, no one!” Cane and I roared together, my anger sizzled just below the surface ready to be let out like a wild tiger waiting to pounce.
I stopped and pinned her against the wall, her eyes widen as her wolf whined softly. I snarled ferociously at her, then dropped her harshly and hurried up to my room.
I decided to order some girl clothes for my angel and some other things to make the room feel more welcoming.
Aella POV
The whole shift I was thinking of Cassius and of my past, should I tell him or not. I got a couple of orders wrong but nothing to major.
I think I will wait. I will tell him eventually, but I want to see what he is really like before I trust him. This damn bond makes it hard not to though. I explain to myself, does anyone else do this or is this just me?
Cassius kept his word and met me at the end of my shift, a lazy grin plastered onto his handsome face and I couldn’t help but grin back cheerfully.
"So how was your day?" I asked curiously, as he wrapped a arm around my waist.
"Fine, but it would have been better if you were there," he stated quietly while he nuzzled me and I smiled at his cuteness.
"Um so what are we doing?" I asked raising an eyebrow in his direction, as I noticed that we were not heading towards the forest.
"Oh right we are going to my pack house." He answered happily, as he studied my reaction carefully.
"Oh um why?" I inquired gently, he just smiled more which was interesting.
"Because I want you to see your new room or our new room," he replied calmly and I smiled at him.
"Wait, but I am not moving in…yet," I stated firmly and his eyes lit up at the last word, hope was sparked in his green eyes.
"Yeah I know, but when you do." He explained cautiously, and I nodded thoughtfully.
"Wait is your pack in the house?" I questioned worriedly, and he pulled me flush against him which made me blush crimson.
"Nope don't worry just you and me." he reassured me, I smiled slightly. He studied me for a moment longer before he slid his hand into my smaller one, he continued walking while he swung our hands together.
I am confused, he seems like he cares but I can't let that win me over. What if it is an act. I thought, I sighed softly and walked forward hand in hand with Cassius.
