Chapter 3: The Hunt Begins The forest exploded into chaos. Hundreds of crimson eyes glowed among the trees, moving closer with terrifying speed. The air itself seemed to tremble beneath the pressure of the approaching creatures. Selena's heart pounded wildly. She had never felt such overwhelming fear before. The monsters emerging from the darkness were unlike any werewolves she had ever seen. Their bodies were twisted. Corrupted. Black veins crawled across gray skin. Their claws were unnaturally long, and their eyes burned with blood-red light. They looked less like wolves and more like nightmares. "What are they?" Selena whispered. Kael never took his eyes off the approaching horde. "Shadow Wolves." A chill ran down her spine. Every child in the werewolf world knew the legends. Shadow Wolves were ancient creatures born from forbidden magic. They possessed incredible strength, endless bloodlust, and a single purpose: To destroy the Moon Blessed bloodline. Selena's breathing quickened. "You mean they're here for me?" Kael glanced at her. "No." The king's golden eyes hardened. "They're here to kill you." The blunt truth hit her harder than expected. Before she could respond, a terrifying howl split the night. The nearest Shadow Wolf lunged. Kael moved faster than lightning. CRACK! The creature's neck snapped instantly. Its lifeless body crashed into the ground. The others hesitated. For a moment. Then they attacked. All at once. The forest became a battlefield. Kael's warriors charged forward. Steel flashed. Claws collided. Blood stained the earth. Selena stumbled backward as two wolves crashed into a tree only feet away from her. The impact shattered the trunk. Fear surged through her veins. She wasn't a fighter. She wasn't a warrior. She was a healer. And right now, death was surrounding her from every direction. A scream echoed nearby. One of Kael's warriors fell beneath three Shadow Wolves. Selena instinctively rushed toward him. "Wait!" someone shouted. Too late. The wounded warrior's chest was torn open. Blood poured from the massive wound. Without thinking, Selena dropped beside him. "Stay with me." The warrior's face was pale. "My King..." he whispered weakly. Selena pressed her hands against the injury. She knew there was no way to save him. The wound was too severe. Yet something strange happened. The mark on her wrist suddenly glowed. Silver light flowed from her hands. The warrior gasped. The wound began closing. Before Selena's shocked eyes, flesh knitted together. Bones repaired themselves. Within seconds, the injury disappeared completely. Silence. Everyone froze. Even the Shadow Wolves stopped moving. The healed warrior stared at his chest. No wound remained. No scar. Nothing. Kael looked at Selena in stunned disbelief. "Impossible." Selena pulled her hands away. "What did I just do?" The warrior slowly rose to his feet. Healthy. Alive. Whole. "My King," he whispered. "She healed me." A ripple of shock spread through the battlefield. The Shadow Wolves suddenly became agitated. Their growls intensified. As if they had confirmed something. A massive roar erupted from deeper within the forest. The creatures immediately retreated. Every single one. Within seconds they disappeared into the darkness. The battlefield fell silent. Only the sounds of heavy breathing remained. Selena looked around in confusion. "They left?" One of Kael's warriors paled. "No." Kael's expression darkened. "They're making way." "For what?" Selena asked. The king's eyes narrowed. "For their leader." The ground trembled. A powerful pressure descended upon the forest. Birds scattered. Trees bent. Even the moon seemed to dim. Then he appeared. A giant figure stepped from the shadows. He was larger than any werewolf Selena had ever seen. His body was covered in black fur. Crimson eyes glowed with hatred. Ancient scars covered his massive frame. The creature radiated pure evil. Selena's wolf whimpered. "Run." The monster smiled. A horrifying sight. "So..." His deep voice echoed through the forest. "After centuries of searching, we finally found the Moon Blessed One." Selena's blood turned cold. The creature knew exactly who she was. Kael stepped forward. "You will not touch her." The monster laughed. The sound was terrifying. "You always were stubborn, Lycan King." Their eyes met. The tension between them was suffocating. "You know what she is," the creature continued. "If she awakens fully, the prophecy begins." Kael remained silent. Selena frowned. "What prophecy?" Neither male answered. The monster's gaze shifted toward her. For a brief moment, genuine excitement appeared in his eyes. "Interesting." His smile widened. "She doesn't know." Selena felt her stomach twist. Didn't know what? What was everyone hiding from her? The creature took a step forward. "The Moon Blessed One will either save this world..." Another step. "...or destroy it." The forest fell silent. Selena's pulse thundered in her ears. Destroy the world? That was impossible. She was nobody. Just an abandoned Luna whose mate no longer wanted her. Yet the creature seemed completely serious. Kael's voice turned deadly. "Leave." The monster ignored him. Instead, he continued staring at Selena. "You should ask yourself one question, child." His red eyes gleamed. "Why did the Moon Goddess choose you?" Selena opened her mouth. No answer came. Because she didn't know. She had spent years believing she was ordinary. Years believing her purpose was to stand beside Damon. Now everything she knew was falling apart. The creature smiled knowingly. "Exactly." Then his expression darkened. "But soon you will remember." A terrifying energy exploded from his body. Kael instantly moved. The two monsters collided. The impact shook the entire forest. Trees shattered. The earth cracked. Selena was thrown backward. She hit the ground hard. Pain shot through her shoulder. Above her, Kael and the creature battled like gods. Their speed was impossible to follow. Every clash created shockwaves. Every strike shook the earth. Selena had never witnessed such power. Not even Alpha Damon came close. Then suddenly— The silver mark on her wrist blazed. A vision flooded her mind. A palace made of moonlight. A throne carved from silver crystal. A woman wearing a glowing crown. Beautiful. Powerful. Divine. The woman turned. Their eyes met. Selena gasped. The woman looked exactly like her. "Wake up, my child." The voice echoed inside her soul. "The time has come." The vision vanished. Selena collapsed onto her hands and knees. "What was that?" The mark continued glowing. Far brighter than before. Kael sensed it immediately. So did the monster. Both stopped fighting. Their eyes widened. The sky above them began changing. Silver clouds gathered around the full moon. Ancient symbols appeared among the stars. The world itself seemed to react to Selena's awakening. The monster smiled. "Too late." Kael's expression turned grim. The prophecy had begun. And somewhere far beyond the borders of every kingdom, hidden enemies who had slept for centuries slowly opened their eyes. They had felt it. The Moon Blessed One had awakened. And they were coming for her. To be continued...
