THE COLOSSAL BLUNDER

Aneesa Maleek a girl full of life and happiness. The only daughter out of 4 children of Mr and Mrs Maleek. She lost her father to fatal accident few years back since then life has changed a lot for them. She has an older brother who works in Norway and 2 younger brothers who are both in university in Abuja. Mornings were Aneesa’s favorite part of the day she loved mornings and the best part was watching the sunrise she woke up at 5:30 am for subh prayer. She finished and went to the kitchen quickly to make a cup of cappuccino and went to take seat on the swing where she sits and thinks about everything and nothing. She also loves to watch the beautiful sunrise while she does that it has become a vital part of her morning routine. She finished and went back to her room to take a quick nap and wake up later on and get ready for another day in her internship program days. She finished dressing up just in time when her friend and co-worker Asim arrived to pick her up. She went to say her goodbyes to Ammi and before she leaves. “Good morning my beautiful Ammi” she said while hugging her mother tightly. “Good morning my Noor. Kin shirya zaku wuce already? (are you all ready to go?)” “yes Ammi Asim is already outside he has called me like 10 million times already so let me run out I’ll be back in few hours so don’t miss me too much and please wake those knuckle heads up before they turn lateness into a habit.” “insha Allah I’ll do that May Allah bless you my child. Sai kin dawo.” Asim the man that loves Aneesa very dearly but never allows himself to show it. They work in the same office but he is not of the same position as her, he is the CFO in the company and a cousin to the CEO. He closes from work earlier than her but waits till she finishes before they leave together. Every one notices how he adores and dotes on her at work regardless of how he hides it she’s the only one that doesn’t notice how he feels or reacts around her. They reached the office after a peaceful drive and they saw many cars which was more than usual. He opened the door for her and she stepped out, for the first time he noticed her outfit. She was wearing a black abaya and a crimson red veil wrapped into a hijab which complimented her chocolate brown skin she had her office id card around her neck and was wearing a sketchers sneakers and a red watch to go with her hijab. He stared at her for as long he could remember when she snapped her fingers in front his face and he switched back to reality and said “ you look too beautiful Masha Allah I can’t take my eyes off you chai God dey create sha”. “ Stop itttttt oga lets go inside I want to know what is happening who’s filling our office with unwanted cars.” They stepped into the office and saw people packed up in the reception. Aneesa stopped when she saw her friends. She asked Bahijja what was happening and she said that “the CEO was here and he wanted to make an announcement and welcome the new interns for joining the company.” Aneesa rolled her eyes at how filmy that sounded from Bahijja’s perspective. Meanwhile Nabeel was reading over his written speech while waiting for Asim to finally make his entrance. “salamualaikum oga CEO” Asim said laughing at how Nabeel was looking knowing how he hated public speaking, it was like that in every public appearance he made. “ shut up and read this thing I wrote. Does it sound responsible enough? I don’t want to mess this up. I don’t even know why I am worried about this being good or not. Either ways read fast I start in 10 mins.” “Ay ay captain.” Asim said amidst laughter. “Salamualaikum and a very good morning to you all. I am Nabeel Uwais the CEO of Uwais and Uwais cooperations. I am pleased to see that so many people joined this company to be a part of us. I hope your company stays with us forever. Here in this company we treat one another like family no job is too small everyone here matters that’s why to further emphasize this I want to invite all members of this cooperation to the end of the year party .” Sudden murmurs filled up the place and Nabeel had to keep quiet for a few seconds before continuing his speech. His speech went on for 5 mins more before he dismissed everyone. Out of all he said the main thing that stuck in everyone’s mind was the first ever end of the year party. Everyone was talking about what to wear, who to bring and so many more. Bahijja went on and on about how Mr Nabeel is handsome and how he dresses well, how his eyes were glowing and what not. And all Aneesa wanted to do was get on with today’s work and get back home and binge watch anything she can find on Netflix. “Dan Allah lets go into the office I’m tired of standing my feet hurts already.” Whined Aneesa as usual. “oya lets go” Bahijja said pulling her. Soon it was 4pm and it was time for them to leave Asim was waiting for her as usual and when she finished, they left. “Honestly I don’t want to take you home just yet I want to take you out to eat or take ice cream or watch a movie just anything to give us more time together.” Asim said out of the blue. “But Asim I want to get home early I wantu binge watch things on Netflix”. “omo the more reason to take you out because you’re turning into an old woman which one is get home early to watch things on Netflix. I am taking you out today and that is final!” Asim said with authority in his voice to make her agree to what he’s saying the more. “fine muje but I am calling Ammi to tell her that I am going out with you. By what time will you take me back though? You know I don’t do outdoors very much”. “insha Allah ill bring you back by 9pm we are watching a movie and then eating and its just 4pm now.” “Asim that’s toooo long you want me to die abi? Okay now while I call Ammi ill tell her to get the masa ready for the guests.” “Aneesa please stop talking like that its giving me the gitters.” “okay sorry lemme call Ammi and inform her inazuwa.” She planned how to tell Ammi she’s spending the day with Asim without actually making it sound weird. “ Salamualaikum Ammi ina wuni ina gajiya” “lafiya lau mamana ya wurin aikin naki” “all fine Ammi. I called to tell you that ill be going out with a friend and I will be back 8 or 9 insha Allah” “ Is that friend by any chance Asim” Ammi said in a teasing voice. “Ammi byeee ill be back by 8 or 9 byeee”. She cut the call before Ammi could say anything further. “ Let’s go before I change my mind.” They went and watched Aneesa’s favorite ME BEFORE YOU. And then they went to eat and he later on dropped her and home after buying ice cream and tons of chocolate for her. “Asim is weird but nice” She thought as she laid in her bed watching vampire diaries for then 10th time.
