Chapter Eighteen
The office was larger than Colonel Baxter’s, and that surprised Chap. He stood just inside the open doorway and looked around the room and he could see why Eddie had needed the extra space. The walls on either side of the room were completely taken up with bookcases, which were filled from floor to ceiling with books and files. Directly across the room, opposite the door, a large, polished, timber desk sat in front of a panoramic window spanning the full length of the rear wall. The top of the desk was neat and orderly.
Chap smiled to himself. Typical of Eddie, he thought; a place for everything, and everything in its place. On one end of the desk there was a computer terminal and keyboard, with a printer sitting neatly next to the monitor. Somewhere nearby there would b
