Chapter Nineteen Eddie Dickson lived alone in a subsidised government army house. Chap was surprised, because army houses were usually reserved for married members. Single members, as a general rule, were housed in barracks-style accommodation within the base precinct. But then, Eddie Dickson was an officer, not a rank-and-file soldier and this was not the 1960s. Times had changed, and today’s modern army bore little resemblance to the army Chap remembered.
