“No, thank you.” Chap smiled and winked. “We’re fine.” With a disapproving flick of the head, the waitress turned and hurried back to her bar duties. Chap smiled at the pretty young Corporal. “That will give her something to think about for a while,” he said quietly. Corporal Kelly lowered her eyes, and the pink glow from earlier in the day flushed her cheeks once again. “Your timing is perfect,” Chap continued. “I arrived back about forty minutes ago. Another forty, and you would have had to wake me.” He shifted slightly in his chair. “Now,” he said directly. “It must be just a couple of degrees above freezing out there. Not the sort of weather to be out for a casual drive, and I’m sure it’s not my good looks and charming personality that brings you here, so please, feed my curiosity.
