Chapter Eight When sleep finally overpowered Chap, it was shallow and haunted by dreams that came to him in a bizarre sideshow peppered with images of war and the faces of dying soldiers. When he woke, he had no recollection of exactly when during the long, restless night it happened, but he made a decision. Despite the bad dreams and the unwelcome, unheralded memories, it was a decision which came more easily and with more clarity than he might have expected.
