Frostbite - The lost Throne
Dean Hudson's point of view- I walk out of my room and into the dining room where I see my father and I greet him as I smile towards Mr. Dante. "Dean you have grown quite fast." He says as he takes a piece of bread from the plate in the center of the table. "The last time I saw you, you were only sixteen." I chuckle as I look over at him.  It's true, though, I am much older but so is he. "How was your vacation, Mr. Dante?" I ask as I reach for a plate and some food in the center of the table. He laughs bitterly. "It was a very sad trip, my boy, I went there for nothing." "So you didn't find the prince?" my mother asks as she walks inside of the room with a large plate filled with chicken. "What a shame." She says as she sets down the plate in the center of the table. Mr. Dante sighs as he passes a hand through his gray hair. "When I got there it was too late." He looks at his plate sadly as he puts his hands together on the table. "The prince died there a long time ago." The moment he says this everyone in the table is silent. "Does that mean that we no longer have a king?" I ask shocked. "Isn't that impossible?" "He died ten years ago." Says Mr. Dante as he looks at his plate. "Geovani, you shouldn't blame yourself." My father says as he puts a hand on Mr. Dante's shoulder. "How could I not? The queen asked me to protect her child and I couldn't do such a simple task." Mr. Dante rubs his temples as he looks at my father. "Lukas, I can still make this right." "What do you mean?" my father asks confused. "The prince had a child." He says with a smile. "I am not sure where this child is or what gender it is, but I know that it should be about eighteen years old by now." "What if you can't find the kid though?" I ask curiously about the answer. "That child will eventually appear.  The wolves with royal blood always tend to stand out." Mr. Dante says as he looks at something far in the distance. He looks as if he's remembering something magical with the way that his eyes sparkle. "Geovani was close to the mother and father of the prince." My father says as he looks at me. "The queen saved him from being killed when he was a child." "How come I didn't know?" I ask looking at them suspiciously. "You never asked," says my dad as he begins to eat. Once we were all done eating we said our goodbyes to Mr. Dante as he left in a hurry. "Why doesn't he just find a witch and ask her to help him locate the child?" I ask my father as he looks at me surprised. "It's not that easy." My mother says as she walks inside the room and picks up the empty plates. I turn to look at her confused "but my teacher said that the spells work one hundred percent of the time." "Those with royal blood have special powers." My father says as he looks at my mother and walks over to her side to carry the plates himself. "They have marks in their arms which contain mysterious powers that protect them from any kind of magic." "Yeah I've heard of the marks but what if the kid doesn't know what those marks are?" I ask as I begin to move the chair back to their proper place in the table. "I highly doubt that." My father says as he looks at the table with the dirty plates on his hands. "I saw the prince grow up along with Geovani. The prince began to use the powers from his mark when he was five. He didn't know why he could do what he did but he still did it." "Was the color of his mark really different from the king and queens?" I ask as he looks at me and smiles. "The king had a blue mark, the queen had a red mark, and for some odd reason their child had a violet mark on his arm." He says as he grabs the forks and spoons. "Why is it so weird?" I ask as I look at him smile. "That mark was new, the old scripts that talk about our ancestor's history never mentioned a violet mark. Ever since we could remember the two main marks for the king and queen were blue and red." He says as he lifts all the dishes and takes them to the kitchen. "Wait so what exactly does the violet mark do?" I ask as I follow him into the kitchen. "My history teacher said that no one knew, but you said you saw him grow up. You must have seen what he could do." He turns to look at me and leans on the sink as he crosses his arms. "I'm not very sure what it was but he was able to jump from high places." "Well that seems weak... even I can jump down from a high place." I say as I look at him unimpressed. "No this was different, he was able to jump higher than any wolf out there. It was almost as if he was flying." My father says as I look at the floor and begin to wonder if that's even possible.   Last night I had learned that there was still a possibility for us to have a king and queen again, yet I sit here in class and listen to my teacher talk about how our rulers are dead and that there is a possibility that chaos might occur in the future. "Dean what are you going to do about Cleo's birthday party tomorrow?" asks Noah as soon as class I over. "What do you mean?" I ask confused. "Well aren't you going on a date with that human?" he asks confused "or did you already cancel?" "Oh s**t, I forgot." I say panicking. About a week ago, Scarlett, my fiancée asked if we could have a date together and without thinking I had said yes. "I'll just bring her to Cleo's house." "Cleo is going to be pissed." He says as he frowns and looks over at the other side of the hall to see Cleo standing in front of her locker. "I know" I whisper as we continue to walk towards her. As much as I hate to bring Scarlett with me I have no other choice. Her family grew up knowing about werewolves since her aunt was the mate of one. The wolf took her away when she was young so they had to explain everything to the family. Soon after that her family made a successful company with our peoples help and since my grandfather's company is going broke I need to marry her and unite the two companies. At first I was saddened by the news since I would have to marry someone I didn't belong with, but once I thought about it I decided it was the best thing I could do for my future. "What were you guys talking about?" Cleo asks as she turns to look at us. "Nothing, we were just discussing the notes for class." Noah says as he looks at his phone. "What were you going to tell us?" "Oh yeah" she says as she smiles widely "my dad is friends with the alpha of the silver blades pack and he's going to come to the party." She stops smiling once she looks at me "what's wrong? You don't seem happy?" she asks me with an irritated look on her face. "I was wondering if I could bring Scarlett?" I ask without realizing it. I begin to sweat when she begins to grind her teeth together. "Do whatever you want." She says slamming shut the door to her locker. "Just don't let that human ruin my party like how she ruined my dad's or I'll kill you." She says as she turns away from us to leave. "Man, I didn't think you would actually ask." Says Noah as he chuckles. "Good luck with that" he says as he pats me on the shoulder and turns to walk towards the lunch room, leaving me to contemplate on life.   Skye Larson's point of view- "Why are you always reading those things?" I ask my brother as he turns to look at me with an evil smile on his face. "Knowledge is power you know. Or do you not remember what dad used to say?" he asks as he turns to look at his book and continues to read. "You are so dumb" I say as I smack his head. "He would always say that but he never picked up a book in his life." I say as I sit down next to him. "Ouch! You didn't have to hit me." He murmurs under his breath as he rubs his head. "You hit really hard you know... are you sure you aren't a man?" he says laughing. "Hmmm, you know I was wondering the same thing about you. Are you sure you aren't a girl?" I ask as he looks at his book and then at me. "Just because is like to read it doesn't-" he manages to say before Henry walks inside of the room and smiles as he kisses Ben's forehead. "Muah!" he yells as he moves closer to me. "Oh hell no" I say moving away from the table where Ben was sitting. He frowns as he puts his hands down. "You are such a party pooper." He says as he squints his eyes at me. "You seem happy," Ben says as he looks at Henry and smiles at him warmly. "Did anything good happen?" Henry smiles wide as his good mood comes back and speed walks to the other side of the table to sit across from Ben. "I am going to go visit the willow pack for a special story that was assigned to me by the newspaper company." "And what's so special about that?" I ask annoyed. 'It's just another pack. Nothing special' 'Be nicer Skye, this is a big deal to him' I hear ben say to me. Sometimes I forget that he can hear my thoughts. "well the alpha of the Silver Blade pack is going to be there for a birthday party, and my job is to get a personal one on one interview with him." He smiles widely as he looks at me and Ben. "Wait, you're going to take us right?" asks Ben as he closes his book immediately and gets up to jokingly shove Henry. "Yeah, of course. How could I leave my children here unattended." He says as he pats Bens head. Henry has been our adoptive father ever since our real father and mother died. It was weird how they both died on the same day and around the same time. I'll never understand how that's even possible but I guess it's something that is capable of happening to werewolves even if it has never been seen before. My father was a weird man.  Although he believed in intelligence he never seemed to use it. My mother on the other hand, loved to read books and to visit museums with us. She had this hunger for knowledge, I think that's what attracted my father towards her. Henry was my father's best friend, they had met when he was a young twenty year old student. He's now in his early thirties and he's taking care of us as his children. When he told us he was going to adopt us Ben was the one who decided to trust him first. Although I trust him now, I am not fully attached to him. In this world there is no such thing as a person who has only good thoughts. I know that at some point in his life he has thought about abandoning us in an orphanage. I smile as I look at Ben smile happily at Henry. Although I am not passionately happy about Henry's new appointed job, I am quite happy that Ben is smiling. My brother's smile is what matters to me the most after all. "You're coming right, Skye?" I hear Ben ask, as he turns to look at me with eyes filled with expectations. "Yeah" I smile as I sit down on the chair next to where he sat and I put my hand on my cheek as I lean on the table. "I wouldn't miss such an interesting vacation"
