Skye's pov:
"what the hell are you doing here?" I hear a woman scream at Henry as I hide behind a wall.
"I need your help." Henry says in panic.
"oh so you don't give me a cent after he dies and then you come back and ask for my help?! it's for the children you said! please!" she says as she slams the door.
Henry sighs as he turns to look at me when I come out from my hiding spot. "it seems that she won't help us."
he begins to walk away from the door but I knock on the door again in order to receive the insults of the woman myself "didn't I f*****g tell you to-" she screams while I stare at her.
she stares at me and then she looks away with a troubled expression. she looks away from me for a while but eventually says "fine I'll help."
"what is it that you want? make it quick." she says as she walks inside of her apartment and sits on a couch.
henry follows me inside, closing the door behind him.
"I can't shift." I tell her and she freezes.
"what?" she asks as she looks at me up and down. "oh my god... he f*****g did it."
"it seems that you know what's wrong with her." Henry says as he sits down on a couch without asking for permission.
the woman looks at me and then she begins to bite her fingers. "I- I'm not supposed to tell anyone but if she's been like this for a long time, it could get dangerous." she gets up and walks over to a room and comes back with two books.
"books?" I ask as she looks at me with regret in her eyes.
"a book of spells and a diary, his diary." she says as she hands them over to me. "I'm not supposed to tell you but he didn't say you couldn't read about it."
"why can't you tell me?"
"you haven't told her?" the lady asks Henry as she looks at him with a glare.
"I didn't think it was important." he says as he lifts a bottle of wine from the table and smells it.
"I'm a demon." she says as she takes a step back from me. "that guy made a contract with me in the past. although the retard wasn't smart enough to word his contract well."
"are you allowed to tell me about the curse that he put on me and my brother?" I ask her as I grab the books tightly.
she looks at my hands and then she sighs "he's a real bastard, how could he do this to a pair of children?" she walks to sit down on her couch and passes her fingers through her dirty blonde hair. "I'll talk about it as if I were to just explain to you a random spell. it's the only way the I won't be breaking the contract."
"that's fine with me." I say as I look at her breathe out.
"it's a spell that was invented ages ago in order to punish werewolves that would mate with humans. they wouldn't be allowed to shift and it would slowly kill them. it's a heavy spell so the only thing strong enough to break it is the power of the moon goddess." she says as she looks at me with a sorrowful expression.
"how-"
"you can't." she says as she covers her face with her hands. "I gave him the last moon drop in order for him to do that spell. that was our first contract. I'm sorry."
"isn't there anything you can think of? Gloria, are you sure there isn't an alternative fix to all of this?" Henry asks agitated.
"I heard rumors about wolves being able to break the curse on their own but I never really heard how. according to them the spell itself is a riddle, it's supposed to be very simple to break the curse but I'm not sure myself how." she says as she looks at Henry. "Henry, I'm sorry. for all I know right now, she could be dying."
the moment I hear those words come out of her mouth I fall into my knees. my contacts begin to bother me so I pinch them out of my eyes and I throw them on the carpet.
my mind takes me back to the time when my father was still alive and I can see him smiling as he looks down at me.
'what a pity.' I hear him say as he looks at me with those awful empty green eyes. his icy expression finally makes sense to me.
that man had planned this, he knew that I would die and he would always hint it to me.
'what a waste.' he would say to me when I would speak badly about my eyes. 'you should appreciate the amount of time you have with them, you never know when you might just die.'
I cover my mouth as I try to not scream.
that bastard kept pointing out to me that I would eventually die, he announced it without hiding it and I didn't notice.
I begin to shake from the amount of anger that's piling up inside me and I can't help but wish that he was still alive.
oh how I wish he was still living here, with a happy family and with his lovely wife.
so that I could kill him...
Dean's pov
Six weeks have passed since Ben started to come to this school and I admit that we have gotten a little bit closer than before.
at first I was afraid to approach him since I thought he would be mad at the fact that I dated his mate for a while but he was actually very calm about it.
"so do you still feel Skye's feelings?" I ask as he sits down on the table with his food.
"I haven't felt anything in a while actually." he says as looks at the wall suspiciously. "maybe she's not feeling anything big right now."
"how's it going with Scarlett?"
"her parents still don't trust me." he says as he continues to eat. "you have no idea how hard it is to have her besides me and not be able to do anything to her." he sighs "we can't even hold hands without her dad glaring at us."
I chuckle "tell me about it. I'm sure you'll get their permission soon enough though. her mom really seems to like you."
"I know." he says smiling. "she's always asking me if I need anything."
we both pause our conversation for about a minute before Ben says "and what about you? you look depressed."
"do I really?" I ask surprised.
"yeah, it seems like if you have lost all of your energy lately."
"I don't know..." I pick on my food with my fork "I haven't been feeling like myself lately. I feel tired all the time... and I don't know why."
"that's weird." he says as he picks up one of the books that he rented out from the library and begins to read it.
Before I left the school to go home Cleo stopped me and told me that she wanted me to come over to her house along with Noah so I did just that.
"what's going on?" I ask Cleo as she brings in the same witch from the last time.
"I thought that something was wrong with you so I wanted to ask her." she says as the witch walks towards the table and sits down.
"you don't need to tell her to do this, so just tell her to go home." I say as I move my hand signaling her to send her away but she ignores me.
the witch looks at me with her small beady black eyes for about a minute before she begins to take out her deck of cards.
"mix them." she says as she hands me her deck of cards.
I shuffle the cards very slowly with a frown on my face, once I'm done I hand it back to her, she pulls out a card from the deck. "I knew it." she says as she sets down the card in front of me.
"what? what does it mean?" Cleo asks as she looks at the card.
"that doesn't look too good." Noah says as he points at it. "that's the card of death."
"your friend is dying." the witch says as she looks at me with a pair of sorrowful eyes.
"what? why?" I ask shocked.
"your wolf is protecting something, and it's eating up all of his energy." she says as she points at me.
'my wolf?'
