Ben's pov
After I started to live in the pack house with the Alpha, his family, and some of his best fighters I slowly got used to the way that they lived.
the Alpha's son was hard to convince that I was a good a person and not a spy but in the end I was able to get along with the nineteen year old guy.
their way of living hit me by surprise though, I have never been hugged so many times by different people in just twenty four hours like I have been here.
the Alpha of the willow pack believes that a pack must learn to trust anyone who steps in their territory in order to be a successful family of wolves. me must trust our neighbor if we want theirs is what he says.
everywhere I look, I see children playing with each other and teenagers hanging out with each other and telling each other their secrets.
I sigh as I see two girls holding hands as they giggle about the things that they say to each other and I wonder to myself what it would have been like if Skye had ever experienced true friendship.
would she smile more often?
would she try to be careful about the things that she says knowing that it could hurt others feelings?
consideration, would that have been a word that made it into her dictionary?
I walk outside and smile when I see the dark red car on the parking lot.
The guy named Dean showed up at the pack house one night and brought me the car saying that Skye had bought it for me and to take good care of it.
I remember thinking to myself that I didn't deserve it but I accepted it since it was the only thing that Skye was able to leave for me.
"what are you doing here Benjamin?" asks Theo the son of the Alpha.
"just admiring." I say as I turn to look at him.
"your sister left you quite a beauty." he says as he puts his hands into his pockets. "how exactly did she manage to get all that money? even my father isn't able to afford such a luxury? I thought you guys were orphans, or is your step dad rich?"
"our parents left us a large amount of money for the both of us. I've been using the money on my account to purchase books for my library at home but Skye never used a penny from her account until now." I fold my arms "and even if she did use money it would usually be in order for her to create more money through partnerships with small local shops or companies that she would help out."
"your sister sounds smart." he says as he leans on a tree and looks at the car.
"she sounds smart but she's beyond that." I look at the car and admire it along with Theo
"so it's been three weeks huh?" he says as he looks at me with a worried expression. "you sure you're alright? it must be tough to be left alone in a strange and unknown place all by yourself."
I look at the ground as I lean on the wall. "I'm fine, I have Scarlett here with me so I'm fine." I look at the cloudy sky "Theo"
"yeah" he says as he turns to look at me.
"the one that should be worried about is not me but her." I say as I sigh deeply "I'm sure shes staying up in the nights trying to read books and solve the problems of the world on her own right now."
Dean's pov
"she seems to be the type to replace her heart with her brain." the old lady says as she moves the cards in front of me in the table.
I glare at Cleo as she looks away from me and starts to act as if her attention is somewhere else.
Cleo was curious about when she would find her mate so she called a witch to read her cards. when Noah and I arrived to her house the session was over but the witch had pulled me to the dining table and told me that she was very much interested in seeing my story.
my parents had always told me to stay away from them but it seems that I couldn't hide from them as much as they could hide from Cleo's reach.
"you don't seem to realize it yourself but you are quite stupid." I hear her say to me and I fake a smile at her in order for her to not see how pissed off I am. "don't pull that little prince smile on me, it won't work." she says as she smacks my head. "you just don't like being told the truth."
"and what exactly is the truth?" I ask her annoyed.
"why don't you try to touching next time?" she advices me. "you'll be surprised at your own stupidity, trust me."
"look lady I don't know what you are talking about." I say tired.
"good" she says as she mixes her cards "because I won't tell you."
"well I must not be the only stupid one if I haven't touched what I'm supposed to."
she pulls out a card from her deck and looks at it "no actually the other party has a legitimate reason as to why they haven't figured it out either."
"oh yeah and what's that?"
"the other party is blind." she says as she looks at me straight in the eyes. "she has been walking blindingly, throughout her whole life she has been able to see things from someone else's eyes."
"I don't understand."
she smiles wickedly as she looks at one last card and she picks up her cards. "this is enough for me." she says as she gets up.
"what do you mean?"
"I mean that I'm done with reading your story. it's a very interesting fate but I don't want to be able to know all of it just yet." she walks to the door and touches my arm "you poor thing." she says before she leaves.
"I thought you weren't interested." Cleo says as she stands behind me.
"I wasn't." I say closing the door. "she was just able to piss me off and I was looking for an argument to win that's all."
"sure." she says as she skips to the kitchen where Noah is at.
"what exactly do you guys want to do?" I ask as I grab a water from the fridge.
"I need to go a run man." Says Noah as he massages his back.
"what is with your wolf?" Cleo asks concerned. "you've been really tired lately."
"I've been studying non stop. it takes a whole lot of mental energy from me to the point that I can't control my wolf." he says as he walks to the back yard.
"what would happen if a werewolf was so tired that they could barely open their eyes?" Cleo asks as we continue to walk towards the forest. "would they shift without knowing?"
"who knows." I say as I follow them into the deepest parts of the forest. "who knows..."
