In trouble

1818 Words
There I was waiting for my turn to be scolded. Although every other people were here for some other reason. I was the only one who would be scolded. I wasn't even sure why I had been called here. Not because I hadn't done anything but more likely because I had done so much. So I needed to be careful what I was going to say. It would be best not to open my mouth and try to defend myself before I knew exactly what they were accusing me of. It would be a disaster if I would blurp out something they didn't know, I would be in big trouble then. At first, I hadn't had a supervisor, but after many complaints of my pranks, some upper people had decided it was easier if there were a person supervising me. It's not like I had done fewer pranks after getting supervisor but I think people were more relaxed when they knew who to complain and ask for compensation for damages.  You would think that there weren't any physical damages since I was a hologram but there was and lot of it. People happened to throw stuff or fall over stuff when they got scared and most of my pranks were to scare people.  What I most liked to do, was to be under food serving plates with covers. When people lifted the cover and saw my head they normally screamed and or threw the food all over. I did it many times a day so would think people would stop got scared but yet I had been able to find people this morning who fell for it. I also had a bad habit of walking on people when they were in an embarrassing situation. It only happened because I had got bored walking through corridors. It was much more fun just to take the straightest way. Like if I was on the 5th floor and wanted to go to the 3rd I just went through the floor. Sometimes I ended up in someone's bedroom and there was a heated situation, or in the bathroom where happened a lot of odds things. So odd that I sometimes wished that I would have used the corridors that time. It still gave me shivers when I accidentally thought about the guy with melon. I could only wish I would be able to eat melons when I got my body back.  "Anna," the secretary Melissa said, "Mr. Swedeson will see you now. Please go in." She said quite strongly the words "please go". I might have pranked her a couple of times and she wasn't a fan of mine. She used to have blonde long hair but had now a short brown one. It might be because there had been a misunderstanding between her and the hairdresser. And I might have been the reason why did that misunderstanding happened in the first place. But melissa was gorgeous looking no matter how her hair was.  "Okay," I answered and went through the wall. "Use the door!" Melissa yelled behind me. Her tone was very angry and it might be because I once walked on her when she had a very heated situation with some man unknown to me.  Nicolas Swedeson didn't even look up from his papers when I came in. I hadn't ever been able to scare him or angered him. He just always sighed heavily when he saw me doing something he didn't think was proper. He acted like a senior although he was only ten years older than me. Most people called him Mr. Swedeson or just Swedeson but I used his first name. I didn't like to be too formal. His title was head of safety or something like that. He was in charge of the inner safety of the base. There were some other people in charge if there was an outside threat. But Nicolas and his underlings keep sure that everything stayed boring inside the base.  To my surprise, there was also another person in the room. I was very glad to see him, Matteo Highton, son of the leader of the Base IV. He was also my dearest friend. We had been together ever since I had been born. We shared the same birthday but he was two years older than I. So in two months, he would turn 18 and would be able to start work for his father. It was the Board of the Base that decided who was the leader of the base. The title was for life, but there could be two of them if the first one was very very old. It was quite normal that the next base leader would be the son of the previous one. Even though Matteo could start working officially with his father only after turning eighteen, he had been next to his father learning ever since he had been sixteen. Everyone was thinking that Matteo would be the next leader and so thought I. Matteo would be a perfect leader. He was quite good-looking with his black hair and so dark blue eyes that they seemed black. But more than looks he had a caring heart and he always made time for people that needed help. He always had time for me or at least used to have. I wasn't sure if he had less time for me because he was busy working or because he didnät like me being a hologram. Some people couldn't be near me, they thought I was creepy. I wished Matteo didn't think that way  "Nice to see you, Anna, " Matteo said and gave me charming smile. I went over him skipping my legs and answered his charming smile with mine. "Matteo dear always pleasure to see you, what are you doing here?" I asked. Nicolas knocked the papers loudly on his table before and answered for Matteo: "He is representing the leader. Since you have been causing so much problem lately I wanted someone from higher to give their opinion."  I smirked at Nicolas. People must have started to complain more since I hadn't done that much more pranking than before. Nicolas sighed heavily.  "You should take this more seriously," Nicolas advised me, "There is a possibility that I have to shut you down for some period of time." I sat down on the sofa where Matteo was sitting. Or more like I pretended of sitting on the couch by not going through it. I quickly looked at Matteo's face before started to stare at the roof. They had meant it to be the most extreme punishment to shut me down but I wasn't really scared of it. Shutting down meant I would just be in a coma and not being able to move around as a hologram. First I had been scared of it but after they had shut me down the first time it was really nothing. Shutting down didn't hurt me. I wouldn't blink away or fade away. It was just that I was here and the next eye blinking wasn't.  There wasn't any empty space where my mind would go. The last time day had passed and I would only notice it because time was different. Shutting down meant nothing. It was nothing. And I couldnät find myself being scared of just nothing.  "So what do you want?" I asked but kept staring at the roof. Nicolas sighed heavily. Maybe he already knew from my tone that I wasn't going to do anything he asked. But maybe that was the real reason Matteo was here. Nicolas didn't really need any order or permission from his uppers. I was under his control. If he wanted he could shut me down. "It would be preferred if you would avoid going to the dining areas," Nicolas started his list.  It was a very long list of things not to do. There was listed almost everything I had ever done or even think of doing. I started thinking if they were spying on me or maybe they could read my mind. "So basically you wish I do nothing?" I asked Nicolas even though he was probably just halfway through his list. I looked at him, but he looked at Matteo, who started to speaks. "Maybe we could find you something more beneficial things to do," Matteo said and I turned to look at him.  "I would love to follow you around all of the day but you go often on areas I'm not permitted to go. You even live in an area I'm no longer allowed to go." I answered sounding like a five-year-old. When I had been human I had had this permission tag that had allowed me to visit Matteo when he was at home. Matteo kept his smile on. It seemed a little bit forced. Maybe the idea of me following him was annoying for him.  "I think following me to boring meetings wouldn't be any fun for you, " Matteo said, "But you like games right? What do you think about chess?" "I know how to play it..." I started my answer. Matteo looked really happy and didn't even bother to listen to what more I had to say.  "That's great. Nicolas calls Will in." Matteo waved his hand at Nicolas who didn't hesitate a second before dialing Melissa. "Melissa, will you show Will in." The door opened and a man older than time walked in slower than a snail. I had a bad feeling about this. Will had been outside waiting as long as I had been. There had also been very many people outside Nicola's door this time. Where they all here so that I would have more beneficial things to do in the future. Matteo kept smiling while explaining to me that Will played chess every morning and would love to me play with him.   I started to consider my choices. I could just run away. It would take some time for them to locate me or they could just shut me down. I could pretend to listen and they would shut me down tomorrow. Or I could do as they wished. Matteo seemed to read my mind and whispered to my ear. "It would be a pity if you were shut down. Would you do this for me?" I wanted to sigh heavily but instead, I smiled and looked into Matteo's eyes. "Anything for you my dear friend," I answered. "Marvellous," Matteo said and continued his speech.   It was hard to say no to him and I didn't want to disappoint him. I didn't dare to look but I was quite certain that Nicolas had a big fat smile on his face. This was maybe his win using Matteo against me but I would find a way to make things back as they used to be. Just wait and see.
