SAVAGE BONDS

Marra’s POV: The air in the cave was thick with a damp, earthy smell, pressing in on me as I stirred. I shivered, but not from the cold. A raw, animalistic fear coiled in my gut, a primal warning I didn't understand. My eyes, wide and disoriented, darted through the gloom, seeing only shadows dancing on rough stone walls. I was alone, trapped. But beneath the fear, something else stirred. A deep, powerful energy resonated within me, a wildness I had never known. I tried to move, to call out, but my muscles felt stiff, unfamiliar. As I struggled, a strange, prickling sensation spread across my skin, followed by a surge of heat. A low growl rumbled in my chest, a sound that wasn't mine, yet somehow *deeply mine*. Panic surged, but it was quickly overshadowed by something far more potent – instinct. My senses, always a little sharper than average, sharpened further, becoming preternaturally acute. I could smell the faint scent of fear in the air, the dry dust of ages, the metallic tang of something that felt like danger. Sounds echoed around me – the rhythmic drip of water, the scuttling of tiny claws on stone, and something else, a soft, heavy breathing nearby. A terrifying realization dawned. This wasn't my human form. My limbs felt powerful, ending in claws. My body was covered in thick fur, a vibrant, shocking shade of red with faint black undertones I had never seen before. This wasn't me. But the strength pulsing through me, the heightened senses – they were undeniably me. A werewolf. I was a werewolf! But I had never transformed before, had never known I was one. How had this happened? Had I been bitten? Was I here because of it, thrown into this cave to be contained? The thought sent a fresh wave of fear through me. The growl in my chest intensified, no longer from fear, but from a burgeoning, fierce instinct. The red wolf within me, dormant until now, was awakening, responding to the threat, to the danger I could sense lurking just beyond the edge of my vision. It was a powerful presence, a silent, predatory force urging me to move, to fight, to survive. I focused on the sounds, on the scents, letting my newly found heightened senses guide me through the darkness. The cave was a trap, of that I was certain. But the red wolf inside me, the beast I hadn't known I possessed, was ready to fight. I didn't know who had put me here, or why. But I would find out. And woe to those who stood in our way.
