EPISODE 2 ASMARA

"We are home!" I shouted as Lila and I made our way towards the patio where, of course, I'd find my brothers roasting and barbecuing. I have five elder brothers and I am their baby sis. The eldest is Jacob — he's 34 and he inherited our father's law firm. Then there is Kevin — he's 30 and he works as an editor at Calvin Klein. He's also the head of design. At third there is Caleb — he's 28 and he's in finance and banking. Then there is Xavier, 26, and he works alongside Jacob. Finally, we have Ryan — he's 24 and he's a professional NFL player.

“Hey guys “ I said walking towards the barbecue stand

“ hi baby sis “

“Hey sis “

“ hello Delilah “

We heard rounds of greetings.

“ oh this smells delicious Jakey “ I told Jacob while licking some sauce , it was honestly so delicious he is the best chef in our house.

“ Aw thanks , it’ll be done in 15 you guys sit “

“ sure thing , we’ll get the table ready. Delilah broughtt some wine “

"Delilah, you didn't have to — we had it all covered," Caleb said, making his way towards us covered in sweat. He had been playing football with Xavier and Ryan.

"Oh, it's nothing," Delilah replied, slightly blushing..?

"You're so sweaty, Cal, go take a shower," I said.

"She's right — you're not sitting for dinner like this. Boys, in the shower now. You have 15 minutes," Jacob called out.

While Ryan, Caleb, and Xavier showered, we got the table ready. I trimmed and arranged the pink lilies in the vase while Deli helped Jacob.

“ how’s my favourite sister “ Kevin called out loudly while making way through the living room .

“ Kev ! “ I shouted and ran to hug him Kevin and I are so close and we always hug , he’s a big hugger so are the rest of them but not Xavier , he’s like a grumpy old man .

“ how was your trip , and the show ..??!” I asked, so excited to see him after a month. Kevin had been away for a fashion show in London for a month and I had missed him.

“ it was amazing , of course and I got you something , oh hi Delilah , how are you ?” He asked putting his arm around my shoulder .

“ hello , I saw your show broadcast-it was beautiful “ she replied

“ Thanks Lilah“ Kevin said while giving her a hug too

“ hey Jake , this smells like home “ he said sitting while sitting on one the patio chairs .

“ I know right , the only thing I miss is jakey’s cooking “ I said leaning next to kev

“of course you do I told you to stay here , you only wanted to experience lonesome “ he said glazing the chicken with some sauce .

“ Ugh not this again, I love living alone “ I said with a humph .

“ so Delilah heard you got some-“

“ Look who’s here “ Ryan called out cutting Kevin mid sentence and jumping up on him and me .

“ your so heavy RyRy , get off me..!!” My voice coming out muffled from under him .

“ okay dinner is ready everybody seats” Jacob called in finality “ Kevin go freshen up” he continued while literally picking Ryan up

“ oh you old man , always shouting orders , you used to be so fun jakey “ Ryan said while walking towards his chair .

We all sat at the table. "Everyone join in for grace," Jacob said, as we all joined our hands and bowed our heads while Jacob led the prayer. Grace is very important in our family — it is a passed-down tradition. After mom passed away, Jacob became the man of the house and he makes sure we follow every tradition that our mom and dad would have wanted us to. He really is the best — he's like a father to all of us.

“ so lilah, Asmara told me you got some community work on your hands ? “ Kevin asked Delilah.

“ oh I sure did , and trust me that library is no heaven as Asmara likes to put it , I dread it” she replied

“ hey not the library it’s my safe place “ I said gulping down some wine

“ of course it is” Caleb chimed in “ that kitten still alive “ he continued

“ Caleb , that’s rude and yes Rory is perfect and healthy “ I said proudly

“ you have the personality of an old woman “ Ryan said laughing “ oh and lifestyle too “ he continued making me sad

“ oh don’t listen to him A , your perfect” Xavier said glaring at Ryan .

“ thanks Xavi , and you big doofus I like my kitten and I like the library “ I said straightening up .

“ Big talk Ryan , your only personality trait is being a womaniser “ Kevin said

"At least I can still pull, old man," Ryan retorted.

“ please , I reject the girls you flirt with “ Kevin said smugly making everyone laugh at Ryan

“ okay now no more bickering , and Asmara eat your peas “ Jacob said in firmly.

We all finished dinner and Delilah left for home , while I helped Caleb and Xavier clean up .

I was staying the night here because they literally won’t let me leave . I had to ask Delilah to put some food out for Rory on her way back , Rory had a habit of wandering around in the open when I am not home , she would come home at night for food , bath and snuggles .

We all sat near the pool, dipping our feet in the water and talking about everything and anything. I love this — spending time with them, its perfect.
