The sun at the Hilton tower is bright and beautiful. Vinca will always swim in the pool on days like this. He wore tight swim pants that outlined his d**k in a really attractive manner. His chest was exposed with a thick collection of hair at the center of it. His skin was so fair and smooth, and radiated under the sunlight. “There is a letter here for you, my Alpha” Beta Lincoln said sharply, after waiting for a while for Vinca’s head to pop out from the water. “Who's coming to chop off our heads this time?” Vinca said sarcastically and dashed back into the pool. Lincoln rolled his eyes and chuckled. “I could hold that for him tho” Taria who was sitting by the pool, trying to display wifely duties chipped in. “I'd rather hold on to it, miss!” Lincoln knew her place in Vinca’s life and that he could literally skin him alive if he left any vital information in her possession. “Grab my towel” Vinca said, wiping off water drops from his face and stepping out of the water. Lincoln passed him the towel and he wrapped it round his waist. He reaches out for the letter and opens it. SUMMIT OF THE LIGHT BEARERS Dear Alpha Vinca, Hope this message finds you well. By the grace of the Moon and the memory of the Old Times, you are formally requested at the Tenth Anniversary of the Great Sacrifice. This annual Summit will take place at the Manor Aegis Island of the Human world. As the Crown Alpha of the Hilton Pack, your attendance will be an honor. Host Julian has declared Sacred Neutrality for the duration of the 48-hour event; *By the Host’s command, the inner wolf shall remain silent. No shifting is permitted on the grounds. * Each Alpha is entitled to a security detail of two Betas and one Omega for personal attendance. We look forward to your presence. Signed, Damian, The Ghost of the High Peaks Sarah, Lady of the Manor The Summit of the Light Bearers was an annual occasion done every Lunar Eclipse in celebration of Damian, the former High Alpha, who burned his wolf spirit to save his human wife, Sarah. For this period, these powerful, violent Alphas came together in their human form to commune with him. Only in this gathering of hundreds of wolves, can Damian feel his wolf self again. He was prominent and loved by so many Alphas, so this was their least way of supporting him. “It's a year already?” Vinca seemed surprised. He handed the letter back to Lincoln to read as well and proceeded back to the tower. “Make all the necessary arrangements for it, we’ll be leaving this weekend, ” Vinca added. “Where?” Taria interrupted “The Aegis summit” Vinca replied “Can I go with you, pleassseee?” She pleaded, keeping a cute pouting expression. “No Woman! We ain’t even official yet, remember.” Vinca snapped at her. Taria felt really bad, she immediately stopped following Vinca and walked to her room. “My Alpha, who are the escorts you will want to go with?” Lincoln asked. “You’re obviously coming with me. Take Beta Rufus as well, just in case that punk head Bastian shows up this year and tries to be funny”. Vinca makes a proud smirk on his face. Rufus was one of his strong men and having the duo of Rufus and Lincoln around, made him feel 10 times more powerful. Bastian had not been coming for the summit since he lost his Dad. Everyone thinks it’s part of his grieving, but rather, he just tries to avoid public gatherings where anyone could trigger him. He has been a Loose-Cannon without his mate, so whenever he unleashes his anger, there’s no soulmate to tame him down. “You can take any useful omega that will take care of our welfare. Vinca added “Yes my Alpha” Lincoln took a bow and walked away. ……………………………………………………………… Taria had made her way to her father’s estate far down to the east from the Tower. She had gotten uncomfortable with Vinca’s inconsistencies and had to share it with her parents. She was sad that the only person that disregards her in the pack is Vinca, the only man she loved…and well… her father too. She was used to her father being arrogant to her, because he never wanted a female child. She felt deserted by her father all her life, and mostly had her mother’s support. As she walked past the guest area, she noticed her childhood photos on the floor of the room, as though someone was going through them. She paused and walked towards the room. There it sat, a big cartoon containing her toys, pictures, medals and lots of her childhood stuff. Just then, she closed her eyes and her wolf did a quick wave release around the area. She got the scent, it was so familiar, so strong and so intimate. And just as she flung her eyes open, he was standing right there. “Collins?” She looked at her old lover with so much surprise. This was her first love while in their pre-teen class. They were so close to each other that everyone hoped they would be mated together. Unfortunately, Collins found out his mate was not just somebody else , it was Taria’s cousin. He kept this secret from Taria so as not to hurt her. His mom was Human, so in order to help Taria move on, he ghosted her and went to stay with his mom in the human world. Taria was so heartbroken when she later found out the real reason why he left. She couldn’t face the reality that he was not only mated to her cousin, but that he accepted his fate and didn’t fight for their love. She cried for days, refusing to eat or shower. She literally lost her mind and got a serious mental illness. Taria was usually locked up in a room for months. No one knew what happened, but Vinca came into the picture and she started recovering. This was one of the reasons most people said her parents charmed Vinca to be compelled to their daughter, so she could feel loved while they get power at the same time. “Bunny?” that was how Collin’s usually called her. He wasn’t expecting to see her at home, and wasn’t sure of what was going on in her mind at the moment. “I..I..” Before he could find his words, Taria ran to him and hugged him tightly. In no time she started sobbing so deeply. She felt like he never left. She was happy to be in his arms again after 10 years. She finally broke off from the hug. He wiped her eyes softly and looked into her eyes. “I missed you so much” Taria said “ I missed you Bunny…I was actually expecting a different reaction from you” Collins said and they both chuckled. “Well, I swore that the day I set my eyes on you again, I would skin you alive. But I guess, I was just bluffing” Taria clenched his waist tightly. I’m sorry I hurt you Bunny. I just felt it was the right thing to do” “So you sneaked into my house to go through my stuff and run back to your mother’s world again? Stalker!” Taria chuckled and bent down to pick some of the photos on the floor. “Actually, I came because something told me I would see you here” Taria stood up and looked at him. Their eyes locked in a gaze for what felt like a century. “ Did you see my mom? Have you had what to eat?” Taria grabbed Collin’s hand and dragged him upstairs to search for her mom. “Mom!” Taria jumped on her mom from behind. She was stirring a pot of hot porridge. “Oh Taria! Don’t let me spill this food on myself” she joked, trying to shake off Taria from her body. “What brought you home today? Thought you forgot the road to your father’s house?” Jess, Taria”s mom teased. “How can I?” Taria reached out for the spoon and took a little portion of the porridge on to her palm to taste it. “Mmmm.. mom this is really tasty. All this for Collins? Cause I know you rarely enter this kitchen” Collins blushed “Am I not worth it?” “Dont mind her” Luna Jess added. “ Go and greet your father, he is home” Taria rolled her eyes “The council didn’t meet today?” “They did. Your Dad just refused to go” Jess replied. She did a hand gesture this time around telling her to go meet her father for the second time. “Fine!!” Taria sighed and moved away. “Just sit at the Dining table Collins, the food is ready. You will be served shortly” Jess said with a smile. “Thank you, My Lady” Collins moved to the dining room. He had lived in the house more than he stayed in his own house. It was so much that they treated him as family. “ My Alpha” Taria bowed to greet her father. “ Taria, why are you here?” Alpha Festus asked without lifting up his face from the book he was reading. “I…Ermm…Nothing Father. Just came visiting” she stuttered “You better not have gotten into any trouble with your Mate, cause if you bring Shame to me, I’ll cease to be your father from that day” He added sternly “Not at all Father, I’ll do no such thing” Taria said putting her face down. “That’s your business, I mean…Not like you have a choice”. He finally looked up, but not at Taria. He picked up his glass of drink and walked out of his private sitting room into the hallway. Taria frowned and let out a sigh. She should be used to her Father by now, but each conversation with her dad breaks her the more. Something in her just hopes he will treat her as his child someday. “You should be used to your Father by now” Jess walked in and noticed Taria’s face. “I know! I’m good though” she faked a smile “Come here” Jess sat down on one of the cushions and patted beside her for Taria to sit. Taria walked down and sat close to her. “What happened with Vinca, Because I know you hate being home, and that he the only reason you can be here” Taria laughed “Mom, you know me too well” “Of course I do” Taria lets out a deep sigh. “ Mom, he doesn’t treat me like he loves me. One minute he is sweet, the next minute he is something else. Even when we are intimate, I feel f****d rather than being made love to” “ That’s common amongst the Alphas. Your father did the same to me. You have no business with love in this situation Taria.” She shifted closer to her daughter “You have to understand this. Submit to him, enjoy his coverage and get a good life for your kids. When you give him heirs, they will love you. They should be the only love that matters to you” “Hmmmm…Mom, but you know I love to be in love” Taria feigned the voice of a complaining child “I know that my baby. Everything will make sense with time okay” “Alright Mom” Taria and Luna Jess joined Collins at the dining table and they ate together and laughed at some silly old memories. Taria and Collins strolled in the courtyard of the house under the moonlight. Their hands were locked together and Taria’s head was laid on his shoulder. The moon was crescent but there were lots of stars in the sky. Everywhere was calm and filled with cricket sounds and whispers of the wind. “I have to tell you something Taria” Collins finally broke the silence Taria? It must be really serious for him to have called her by her name, she thought. “What could that be?” Taria said and took a loud gulp.
