The sound of the crowd was deafening as they sang along to the final Rebels song. Jack was teetering on the edge of the stage, his foot on a giant light, his arm holding the microphone outstretched to encourage the spectators to join in with the last verse. Then suddenly, with a crash of a cymbal, their time in the spotlight was over and Elizabeth was crying tears of joy as Melody hugged her. Jack pulled off his t-shirt, lobbing it into the crowd. Hundreds of girls at the front clambered to catch it. Some of them were being pulled out by stewards as the excitement had made them faint, or maybe it was just a ruse to try to get them nearer to the band – or so Melody reckoned.
