She had never packed a suitcase so fast. In went everything: her toiletries, her curlers, her makeup and sparkly outfits. On the way back to the hotel, she’d looked on the internet and found a direct train to Cornwall which was due to leave in an hour. In her mind she was already there; on her way back home. But then someone was rapping firmly on the bedroom door and Elizabeth was shouting, ‘Go away, Melody!’ The knocking intensified.
