By the middle of October they had played a further nine gigs. They crossed the border into Scotland and performed in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee. There was no time for sightseeing, they were working to a tight schedule and Elizabeth was equally exhilarated and exhausted. Carolyn had stopped in England, which meant that Jason had travelled on the tour bus with everyone else. Elizabeth found herself gravitating towards him. Spending time talking to him, he told her more about his nomadic upbringing, his childhood and his time as a guitarist. She told him of Cornwall, the beauty of the wild sea and the hidden sandy coves that remained largely undiscovered by tourists. ‘I can’t believe you’ve never visited Cornwall,’ she said, ‘it’s a real English gem.’ ‘Maybe you could take me one day.’
