The climb had proven harder than he had anticipated. He scaled the brick, using the hanging tree beside it for support and after three separate palm-grazing attempts, he finally found the leverage he needed and sat atop the wall, arms raised in triumph, shouting out in victory to nobody throughout the frozen and empty streets. But climbing up had been the easy part. The descent, which Kyle had believed would be as simple as just jumping down from the wall, proved much more challenging. It was much higher than anticipated and he had not realised just how drunk he was. He felt that the time since leaving the bar would have sobered him up and so during his celebrations on the wall, he felt immortal. He did not take into account the haphazard actions of his legs or arms, and he was so elated
