Lyra Hale never asked to be rare.

Born with the dormant magic of a white wolf — a power feared, coveted, and whispered about in every pack — she’s spent her life trying to stay unnoticed. But when a corrupted shaman from Crescent Ridge begins hunting her aura, Lyra’s awakening becomes impossible to hide.

Shadowpeak Pack takes her in, offering protection she’s never known. Kayden, their fierce and steady Alpha, is determined to keep her safe… even as her rising power challenges everything he thought he understood about magic, loyalty, and the bond forming between them.

As Lyra’s abilities evolve beyond anything recorded in wolf history, she becomes the one thing the shaman never expected: a threat capable of unraveling his dark rituals. With Mira — her sharp‑witted, fiercely loyal friend — at her side, Lyra learns to weaponize her aura, sever corrupted magic, and track the man who once tried to break her.

But Eryx isn’t just hunting her.

He’s building something.

Something fueled by sacrifice, obsession, and a twisted desire to claim the power Lyra is only beginning to understand.

When Shadowpeak launches a hunt into enemy territory, Lyra must decide whether she is a target… or a predator. And Kayden must face the truth he’s been avoiding: protecting Lyra isn’t just duty anymore — it’s personal.

Magic is awakening.

War is coming.

And Lyra Hale is no longer running from her power.

She’s becoming it.

The Girl They Tried to Break
Lyra moved through the Alpha’s manor like a ghost, silent and unseen, the way they preferred her. Her bare feet whispered over cold stone floors, her arms aching from the weight of the laundry basket she carried. Waist‑length blonde curls spilled over her shoulders in tangled waves, catching the dim light like threads of gold. She kept her head down, gray eyes fixed on the floor, her expression calm and soft even though her ribs still throbbed from last night’s punishment. Kindness lived in her like a stubborn flame. No matter how many times they tried to snuff it out. “Move faster, wolfless,” a guard snapped as she passed. His voice was sharp, meant to cut. Lyra didn’t flinch. She simply stepped aside, letting him pass, offering a small nod of respect she didn’t owe him. It was easier this way. Easier to let them believe she had no wolf. Easier to let them think she was nothing. If they knew the truth — that she could mask her scent, her wolf, even the entire pack’s presence if she wished — they would use her until she broke. Or kill her out of fear. So she hid. She hid her wolf. She hid her power. She hid herself. The Crescent Ridge Pack was built on status, bloodlines, and cruelty disguised as strength. Those at the top thrived. Those at the bottom served. And Lyra… Lyra had been pushed so far down the ladder she wasn’t even considered part of it. She was a slave. A servant. A thing. But she was still kind. She still helped the younger omegas when they cried. She still shared her food when she could. She still whispered encouragement to anyone who needed it. Her heart refused to harden, even when her body bore the marks of their hatred. Today, the manor buzzed with frantic energy. Wolves rushed through the halls, carrying decorations, crates of wine, and shimmering fabrics. The annual Mating Ball was tonight — hosted by a neighboring pack with far more wealth and influence. Lyra wasn’t invited, of course. She was only there to serve. “Lyra!” Beta Rowan barked from across the hall. “Get these linens loaded into the truck. And hurry. We don’t have all day.” She hurried over, lifting the heavy crate without complaint. Rowan watched her with thinly veiled disgust. “Pathetic,” he muttered. “A grown woman without a wolf. You should’ve been cast out years ago.” Lyra kept her gaze lowered. She didn’t respond. She never did. Rowan leaned closer, his breath hot and sour. “Try not to embarrass us tonight. The Alpha wants everything perfect. If you make one mistake—” “I won’t,” Lyra said softly. He sneered. “You always do.” She turned away before he could say more, carrying the crate outside to the waiting truck. The air was crisp, scented with pine and distant rain. The mountain loomed behind the pack lands, dark and protective — a place she often dreamed of escaping to. Freedom lived somewhere beyond those trees. She could feel it. Taste it. But she wasn’t free. Not yet. As she loaded the crate, a young omega girl approached her, eyes wide and hopeful. “Lyra… do you think we’ll see the Alpha of the Shadowpeak Pack tonight?” she whispered. “They say he’s the strongest Alpha in the region. And kind. And gorgeous.” Lyra smiled gently. “I’m sure he’s all those things.” “They say he has black hair and blue eyes,” the girl continued dreamily. “And that he treats his pack like family.” Lyra’s heart tightened. She couldn’t imagine an Alpha like that. Not after living under Crescent Ridge’s rule. “I hope you get to see him,” Lyra said. The girl giggled and ran off. Lyra finished loading the truck, wiping her hands on her worn dress. She didn’t know it yet — couldn’t possibly know — but tonight would change everything. Tonight, she would step into a world she’d never been allowed to touch. Tonight, she would meet the man fate had chosen for her. Tonight, Alpha Kayden of Shadowpeak would see her… and nothing would ever be the same.
