The moment of passionate reconciliation fizzled out. Nakka and Lisa were exhausted, but in contrast, Lilac was delirious with blind energy. She had been transported with mixed emotions she could not repress. She felt truly alive, and probably for the first time in her life.
As Lilac calmed, she asked if they could all sit around the table. Lisa remained standing, and Nakka reluctantly sat, preoccupied in thought, realising that in the throes of that passionate moment he had promised to do something, but his inadequate brain cells had blended with his scaredy-cat ones, and he was now filled with a nagging doubt of his abilities, and more importantly, memories of his historic failings. The fear struck deep and hard.
