Jess and Kane were in his office for a while, and when they finally emerged, Jessica’s eyes were red and swollen, showing that she had been crying.
While we cooked dinner together, I asked her if she was OK. When she replies with a simple “yes,” I decided not to press further.
However, I can see a glimpse of her true self again after their conversation. She’s not completely back to normal, but it seems to have provided some relief.
We sat and enjoyed our meal. Eventually, they mentioned it was time to head back home to Elijah’s place. Although I tried not to show it, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of worry. As 10 o’clock approached, they prepared to leave. Before saying our goodbyes, I gave Jess a warm hug and embraced Elijah tightly.
