Alexia was shocked, unable to move; she had always wanted to marry, but it never occurred to her that she would marry a man whose name she didn't know and whom she hadn't seen in her whole life.
She'd heard countless stories about him, and each time it made her upset that her sister would wind up with such a man, only to find out she'd be the bride.
Alexia wiped her tears with the back of her palm as she swallowed the rising knot in her throat; she couldn't believe her sister and stepmother could betray her like that; she was surprised her father agreed right immediately without asking her first, and she knew Scarlett had always been the favorite child.
She wiped another tear from her eyes as she remembered her mother; she knew her mother would never put her into the lion's den and would have done anything to protect her; she immediately missed her mother and felt nostalgic recalling the time she was alive, and they had a beautiful time together.
Alexia blinked many times, attempting to keep her tears at bay; she didn't want her father to see her in this state, and it pained her to see her sister and stepmother eating so joyfully.
Her father had thrown a great party for the occasion, and as she looked around the room, she realized she was the only one who was sad. She sniffed when she noticed a group of people approaching her and moved over to them.
“Congratulations lady Alexia, I hope you have a great marital life,” one of the women who approached her said and she smiled awry.
“Thank you so much, I appreciate it” she replied, and they showed some courtesy before walking away. It seemed she was the only one who wasn’t aware of her wedding.
Alexia desperately wanted to laugh, but she needed to calm down, nothing could have prepared her for the day, and it was too bad her birthday was the next day. She huffed and was determined to make everyone happy for her own sake; she hadn't had a joyful life since her mother died, and she wasn't about to start now.
Alexia feared that as each second passed and the celebration came to a conclusion, her father would find her and kick her out for good; she didn't know when she would again step foot into the pack she had known her entire life.
Alexia walked away from the party and went to her room. When she looked in the mirror, her eyes were bloodshot red, and she blinked frantically to keep herself from crying. When she heard a knock on the door, she went over to open it.
She furrowed her brows as she noticed three servants standing before her: "We were asked to move your belongings, the limousine is waiting to pick you up at your new home."Alexia nodded, allowing them to enter her chamber, as the maid said.
The concept of having a new home perplexed her; she had her gaze fixed on the servants as they entered her room, and she couldn't believe this was no longer her room.
The servants immediately scooped up her garments and exited the room at the same time Scarlett entered. Alexia glared when she spotted Scarlett, and Scarlett giggled, her gaze sweeping over the room.
"Well, I'm glad you're finally out of the pack. Be sweet to your husband, cook for him, feed him, and be his nanny because he can't use his legs, and I'm not certain how he'll pleasure you," Sarah stated, giving Alexia a disgusted look.
“You are in no place to tell me any of that, Scarlett. I promise you I am going to pay you back for what you did, planning my wedding without my consent,” Alexia said, and Scarlett chuckled.
“You can’t do anything, Alexia, you should just hope and pray you have a good life over there. I pray you don’t have a good life”, Scarlett said and walked out of the room. Alexia sighed and felt a constriction in her chest.
Alexia forced a grin and looked at her father as the door unexpectedly opened again. "Father," she said, and Alpha Xavier smiled and took her hand as they walked out of the room.
They exited the Pack Mansion to find a limousine waiting for them. Alexia blinked many times, trying to contain her emotions, and was brought inside the car, where she noticed her stepmother and sister grinning at her. She entered the car and shut the door, leading her out of the pack.
She looked out the window as the car sped away, unable to believe she was leaving her home, which she had known her entire life, and that she would now be at the mercy of strangers.
She gently placed her face on her palm and cried quietly; no one in the limousine seemed to be nice because they all ignored her while she cried; she couldn't believe she was going to spend the rest of her life with a cripple; and she considered killing herself or fleeing, but as each thought crossed her mind, she blinks several blind trying to will the thought out of her mind.
Alexia eventually stopped crying since she had no option and resolved to accept her fate when she saw a massive gate, bigger than the one in her pack, with boldly written words on top. “Shadow pack" she mumbled, and the gate opened, enabling the limousine to pass through.
They drove along the difficult path and gradually came into contact with various houses; Alexia was awestruck by the beauty of the pack, which was much larger and more beautiful than hers. Her gaze flashed about, and she noticed other folks going about their business with a big smile on their faces.
She noticed the car approaching a mansion and how magnificent the mansion was. The limousine came to a halt; the chauffeur promptly stood up to open the door for her, Alexia came out of the car and looked about.
"So this is my new home," she mumbled to herself as she noticed several people gathered at the door, eager to welcome her in. She expected to see her new husband, but she saw no one sitting in a wheelchair.
“Welcome to the Shadow pack, lady Alexia, we are happy to have you here. I am Lady Penelope”, an older woman told her, and she smiled, she noticed she was the senior staff member and the others were her subordinates.
“Come, I shall lead you to your room,” she said and Alexia faked a smile before following her, she wondered why her husband didn’t care to welcome her, and she suddenly remembered the kind of man he was preached to be, an ugly ruthless man, she wouldn’t have expected any less from him.
Lady Penelope led her along the various stairs, and they finally arrived at the front of a door. Lady Penelope pushed the door open, and they went inside. Alexia was awed at the beauty of the room, and it was just as she wanted it.
“I will leave you to settle in. I will be back in less than an hour,” Lady Penelope said, and turned to leave the room. Alexia wanted to call her and ask about her husband.
“Lady Penelope?” She called.
“Yes?” Lady Penelope replied, turning her head to look at her, and Alexia grinned as she realized how dumb her question was.
"Don't worry," she replied and she walked out of the room, smiling.
She groaned, gazing around the room, when she heard the door abruptly open. She furrowed her brows, thinking about the person who didn't have the respect to knock, and turned around to see a man in a wheelchair enter the room.
But there was one thing wrong with this man: he is not as ugly as he was described; in fact, he is incredibly attractive for a man in a wheelchair, which left her speechless.
Alexia's pulse pounded rapidly against her rib cage as her wolf howled at the back of her mind, screaming mate; she was surprised to see the crippled prince, and even more surprised that they were mates. She had not anticipated this.
"And you are..." Alexia trailed after, unable to believe this is the man she married even though he is in a wheelchair; he is far too gorgeous to be termed ugly, and this is not what she had expected.
"Alpha Alexander Scott, your husband," he said coldly, and Alexia gasped, taking a step back; she had expected an elderly guy, but she hadn't expected such a young man, possibly in his early twenties.
“Alexia” Alexia said, and Alpha Alexander snorted.
“I know your name, Alexia, and I have heard a lot about you,” Alpha Alexander Scott said, and Alexia furrowed her brows. She wondered how he could have heard so much about her when she was a sudden substitute bride.
“What do you know about me?” Alexia asked, and he cackled, his eyes sweeping over her in disgust.
"I know what you are, and your sister told me a lot about you. It's so sad we're mated, and I've already rejected you, I don't want someone like you as my mate," he stated, as Alexia gasped in surprise.
She hadn't anticipated her sister to meet the prince and have him reject her as his mate. Even though he is crippled, he should be grateful that he is mated to her.
"I have a chosen mate, Alexia, so don't expect too much from me; you can settle in as Lady Penelope suggested, and I hope we don't cross paths in this mansion," Alpha Alexander Scott stated as he turned to leave her room.
Alexia sighed as the door closed and tears streamed down her cheeks, wondering why she had such bad luck; not only was she wedded to a disabled prince, but he also rejected her as his mate before she could go to the palace with him.
Alexia cried and wiped her tears away with the back of her hand when she heard a knock on the door and went for it. Her belongings were brought inside by several servants, and she smiled faintly, bowing her head to acknowledge them.
She sighed as the door was shut and carried her possessions to the closet, where she arranged her clothes in an attempt to distract herself from worrying about her dilemma. She became tired of it and decided to retire for the night without eating anything.
Alexia fluttered her eyes open. She had forgotten to pull the curtain down the night before, allowing the early morning sun to penetrate her eyes. She looked around, and her heart skipped a beat due to the unfamiliar environment before her brain finally registered this. She is her new home now.
She got out of bed and went to the bathroom, where she took a short bath and put on the first clothes that came to mind. She was about to go when she heard a knock on the door and tilted her head to see.
"Come in," she whispered, and as the door opened, Lady Penelope entered, accompanied by another lady. "Good morning," Alexia said with a friendly grin.
"Good morning, Lady Alexia. This is Layla. "She will be responsible for looking after you; she is your maid." Lady Penelope said, Alexia c****d her head to look at Layla, who had her gaze fixed on the floor and appeared timid.
"Thank you," Alexia said with a smile.
"Breakfast is ready; please come down and eat." Lady Penelope replied, and Alexia nodded, before walking out of the chamber, leaving Alexia and Catherine alone.
"Good morning, my lady, do you want me to accompany you to the dining hall?" smiled when Layla inquired, as she adored her voice.
“Yes, let’s go”, Alexia replied, and they left the room.
Alexia looked around the magnificent hall in admiration, everyone was perfectly coordinated, and the maids were all dressed in their uniforms. Alexia knew it took more than a little sightseeing to get used to the palace, and she couldn't wait to do so.
She had a broad smile on her face as they walked down the stairs, but her smile faded when she noticed a lady blocking her path and refusing to move. Alexia furrowed her brows and moved to the other side, but the lady repeated the same act by blocking her path. Alexia rolled her eyes, tired of the childish game.
"What is the reason for this?"Alexia inquired, her face flushed with rage.
“Oh! I wanted to take a look at the rejected mate, I am the chosen mate of Alpha Alexander Scott” the lady said and Alexia’s eyes swept across her. There was something about her blonde hair that pushed Alexia off.
“Good for you” Alexia replied, trying to walk away, but she blocked her path again.
“You should be careful. Whatever your name is, I will make sure to give you a hard time if you don’t stay away from Alpha Alexander. He might be married to you on paper, but he belongs to me,” the chosen mate said, and Alexia smirked. She knows Alpha Alexander is insanely handsome, but she can’t believe a lady will be standing before her ready to fight for a crippled person.
“You should rest assured, disabled people are not my type,” Alexia said and everyone who heard her gasped. The chosen mate raised her hand and slapped her across the face. Alexia was shocked and placed her palm on her cheek.
She isn't a wimp and would never allow herself to such abuse; she raises her hand to smack her back, but her hand hangs in the air when she hears a yell "Don't you dare, Alexia!"She tilted her head to look at Alexander as she heard his voice.
He rolled his wheelchair up to her and stood in front of her, his gaze darting between the two females as he growled, "What happened, Kamila?"When Prince Sebastian inquired, Alexia learned her name was Kamila.
"She started it by saying you're not her type; she doesn't like crippled men." Alpha Alexander fisted his hand and looked at Alexia as Chloe stated.
“Follow me!” he said and started moving. Alexia sighed and followed him to his study. They went inside and Alexia closed the door.
“How dare you try to slap Alexia?” Alpha Alexander asked, hitting his hand on the desk in his study.
“She hits me first, and I won’t stand and let your woman hit me!” Alexia yelled and Alpha Alexander smirked.
“You don’t fancy a crippled man?” he asked and Alexia smirked.
“Do you expect me to fancy one? Especially the one that rejected me?” Alexia asked, looking down at Alpha Alexander. She smirked and was glad she looked intimidated, but her glory was short-lived when she suddenly saw Alpha Alexander stand up.
She gasped as her eyes trailed his figure. She didn’t know he was such a tall man. The Alpha moved a step closer to her, and she moved one back, her hands getting cold, she moved another step back and hit her back on the wall.
"Are you taken aback? Your crippled husband can walk?" Alpha Alexander inquired, wrapping his hand around her neck. "Don't push it, I know you've heard stories about me, and I am whatever you heard about, you are worthless and mean nothing to me. Try not to get on my bad side, you won't like it," Alpha Alexander Scott stated as he returned to his wheelchair and pushed it out of the study.
What is his motive?!
But that didn't bother her anymore, since she remembered him calling her useless, so she fisted her hand fiercely and thought of how she was going to prove her worth, how she was going to exact her revenge on everyone who had played with her.
What an eighteenth birthday!
