Suspicious Attack

1512 Words
A howl resounded through the pack followed by a loud horn that announced the pack was under attack. Dominique narrowed his eyes and looked out the window behind Anna's bed into the night where he noticed several rogues surrounding the pack to prepare for an attack. He scowled and walked out of the room after lying Anna down on her back gently. "Guard this room, nothing must happen to the lady inside" he commanded his gamma, his voice sounding deep and guttural showing his wolf was on the surface. He transformed into his brown-coloured werewolf form and ran towards the pack gates, where the main battle was ongoing. He noticed several warriors guessing the females and children towards the safe house while others formed a protective barrier so that no rogues would sneak into the pack. He nodded approvingly and continued to his destination. He howled, raising the fighting spirit of his pack warriors who howled in return as they all charged into the battlefield ready to defend their times until their last breaths. Dominique clawed at the first rogue that came towards him, pinning him down to the floor and gnashing his sharp teeth on the rogue's neck, biting until the rogue went limp under him. With a low growl, he picked the next enemy to fight. He felt irritated that he was dealing with such a nuisance when he had so much better things to do, but he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something amiss with the group of rogues that had come to attack tonight. Pushing the feeling to the back of his mind he noticed a rogue charging at him. Dominique stood his ground, glaring at the incoming rogue with contempt and an urge to kill, as the rogue collided with Dominique's strong body it was sent flying hitting the tree with a loud crash followed by a pained yelp. Dominique stalked towards the rogue and clawed its stomach open before forcefully detaching his head from his neck. Suddenly, three more rogues surrounded him, their faces set in a fierce, predatory glare. With a collective snarl, they launched themselves at him, but Dominique was ready. He leaped into the air, using the momentum to send two of them flying in opposite directions. Before they could recover, he landed on the third rogue, pinning him down with his claws and fangs. In a swift, efficient movement, he tore into the rogue's neck, killing him instantly. The other two were back on their feet now, and he turned to face them, his eyes glowing red with fury. Noticing he had turned to them, they stepped back trying to create a distance between themselves and the rating alpha, so they could have time to plan their next attack. They signaled to one another planning to attack him at the same time from different directions, but before their plans could be carried out, they were tackled by the group by the other warriors behind them. The battle raged on through the night, as the rain began to fall in torrents. Just as the first light of dawn broke over the horizon, the remaining rogues turned and fled, tails between their legs. They had lost half their forces, and could not withstand the combined might of Dominique and his pack. Dominique let out a howl of victory, his chest heaving with exertion and his body slick with rain and blood. As the battle frenzy receded, he shifted back into his human form, naked and drenched to the skin. He looked around, his body soaked with rain and his eyes conveying no emotions. He walked around with a robe that had been handed to him by one of the pack warriors, looking at the faces of the dead bodies that had died to identify his pack warriors. Unlike regular werewolves, rogues don't shift when they die so he could tell that five of the bodies lying on the battlefield were from his pack. Stella marched towards him in her beautiful gray wolf before shifting to her human form, she stood beside him, giving him a side glance while waiting for him to give the next instruction. She felt disappointed as Dominique turned away without looking in her direction, she bit her lips in annoyance and followed behind him, "Dispose of the rogues and give the dead warriors a normal burial. Lock up the injured rogues for interrogation" He instructed, seeing that she kept following him. "Yes, alpha" she replied and stopped walking, with a frown towards the pack house, particularly the uppermost floor, she pursed her lips hesitating before saying what she intended to, "They lady you brought back tonight, she doesn't smell like a rogue neither does she smell like she belongs to a pack, don't you think they came here for her tonight? Does she have something they want?" Although she sounded worried on the surface, her question was just to confirm her suspicion about the lady. She had grown up with Dominique and never had she seen him so worried about a stranger and that was what unnerved her the most. 'He couldn't find his mate, not now!' Dominique pursed his lips without saying a thing and walked back into the pack house. "The attack tonight feels suspicious," Zach, Dominique's wolf, announced as he stood under the shower to wash away the aftermath of the battle they had just fought. "I felt it, they were too weak for regular rogues and their killing intent was banty there, their movement felt like they were under some kind of puppet control," Dominique replied with a deep grimace. "Do you think they came for our mate? I did sense their presence from back then in the moon pond " Zach announced as Dominique walked out of the shower with a towel wrapped around his waist. "I will look into it when it is bright outside. And they truly did come for her, them the poet master isn't a simple person deal with" he gritted out "They probably knew about the story that Lycan bloods can make rogues stronger, and they won't stop until they what they want'' he sneered at the thought of someone coming for his mate under his thought. "Whoever they are, will have to go over my dead body to touch a hair on her head" Anna looked up to see the stranger from earlier enter the room dressed in a plain white t-shirt and brown joggers, she squinted her eyes at him trying to figure out where she had met him and why she was getting a feeling of familiarity around him. Coupled with her feeling of safety and comfortable warmth around him. Have I met him before? "Who are you and where am I?" She asked curiously, her voice sounding hoarse and scratchy from not being in use for a long time. Dominique sat on the stool beside her bed and gave her a once over before replying to her question, "I am Dominique Biryan and I am the Alpha of the Blue Moon pack that you are in at the moment." Anna could tell she had heard the name before, not once but several times but she couldn't remember when or where, all her memories had been in her old pack. Seeing the confused expression on her face, Dominique could not help but chuckle with an amused glimmer in his eyes, "I was the one from the forest, you know you and being the same?" he asked teasingly and Anna flushed in embarrassment, she had truly thought what about the night before was a dream. She never stopped to ask how she had returned to her human form, scared that she would turn back into her hideous appearance immediately after she talked about it. "Thank you for saving me!" she exclaimed and bowed, "I had thought I was dreaming, it's good I'm back to my human form now" she breathed out and Dominique frowned slightly. "I know you don't believe me yet but I need to remind you that you are not cursed" he felt a need to lay emphasis on that, seeing how happy she was about getting rid of the 'curse'. Anna grimaced and averted her eyes to the side, "Are you reassuring me like this because we are the same and you are scared that I will do something and you will be left alone again? You don't have to. Even if we are cursed, we can be cursed together, I know how it feels to be cursed alone, it's lonely" She whined and Dominique laughed at her childish attitude and the weird faces and the weird face she was making. Once he was calm enough to talk, he looked into her eyes and declared, "You are an ancient lycan not cursed, and I am also of the same kind as you. Our kind is supposed to be extinct with me bringing the last one, so I'm quite curious about your identity" he confessed truthfully. "Who are you and Where are you from?"
