CHAPTER 9

740 Words
We were riding for more than 2 hours. It was a long journey I’d say. “Momm!” “Where are we going this long?” I groaned. She chuckled. “We are going to the beach babe!” I frowned. “Beach!?” “You gave me such an hype then!” She pressed the button on her side. The window opened. “It’s California!” I jaw dropped. “You mean California beach!!!?” I jumped on the seat. That beach was my favourite all the time. It was a place where I spent lot of time with my dad building sand castles, playing freebees, surfing, tanning and lot more fun. Yes, it reminds me of my dad. And that’s why it’s special. I calmed me down and sat patiently on my seat like an obedient child. “You gotta see someone there” my mom said staying focused on the road. “Who?” “You’ll see” I shrugged down and smiled. I indulged in the beauty of California. I don’t know but it’s always special for me. We reached the beach and my mom parked our car in the parking slot given to us. I got down from the car and stretched myself. I saw my mom taking bags out from the car. I carried some of it. “We’ll fresh up and then come down, Charley” my mom said as she was walking towards the hotel. I followed her. The room was quite big for two of us. I cleaned myself and threw me in a swim suit. I didn’t want to show my skinny and weak bones to anyone. “I’m ready mom!” I saw my mom with her suit. We locked our room and got down with sliders. I wore my sunglasses and kept my feet on the sand. It reminded me. it glitched about my dad and the way he died and the way we used to spend our vacations over here. I closed my eyes and sighed deeply. My mom tapped me from my back. “Charley” “Look who’s there!” I opened my eyes. I saw a familiar face very far away from me waving hands towards me. It was a girl dressed up in a bikini. “Wait! What?” “Is she Eve?” “Eve Quinn??” I asked my mom. “Yeah!” I chuckled. I ran to her. Eve Quinn was my childhood friend. She was my dad’s best friend’s daughter. We used to hangout here when we were younger. Now, she has grown up a lot. I hugged her down. “Eve!!” “It’s been really longgg!!!!” I hugged her again. She laughed. “Charley!!” “Yeah!! You’ve changed a lot too!” I winked at her. I was worried on the other side. I turned back to my mom. She was talking with Ms.Quinn. “It’s been years really” I chuckled. We spent our time surfing, sun tanning and building sand castles with her little brother. The place looked the same but my life was reversed. I missed my dad. I missed those days.   We exchanged our number. “So, how’s life?” She slouched in the sand. “It’s going pretty good” “I have good family, good friends” “Aaand a boyfriend” she smirked. This gave me a hype. “Whaat!!?” “You have a boyfriend!!” “Well, it’s logical because you’re older than me” She laughed and nudged me. “What about you Charley?” “I don’t have a boyfriend” “But I have a bunch of friends who support me more than a boyfriend does” She smiled and looked in disbelief. I nodded. We had our lunch together. They are supposed to leave the city by evening as it was instructed by Mr.Quinn that he had some work the next day. We said our goodbyes and they left. As we were walking back to our room, my mom mouthed to speak. “So, how was your day?” I gave her the excitement in my face. “Thank you so much mom!!!” “I really had one of the best days in my life” She patted my head and kissed me. We reached our room and I took a bath. We are going to leave tomorrow after our brunch.
