Chapter 9He’d been gone for hours. They must have worried deeply for his safety. They certainly looked like it. Nicky had been crying. Ezra wasn’t much better. Anjea paced back and forth, and Rachel seemed lost in thought. They didn’t see him at first, so he removed his mask and called out. “Hey guys.”
All four adults snapped out of it. Ezra was the first to get to him. He embraced Cameron and held onto him tightly. Nicky came bounding after him. Rachel and Anjea watched, but the latter soon focused on Mingxia. “Who the hell is that?”
Cameron pulled away from them. He cleared his throat. “Uh, her name is Mingxia. She’s from a community about an hour that way. She might be able to help us.”
“Oh my God!” came from Nicky. “That’s incredible!”
“They haven’t promised anything yet,” he warne
