Two days had passed, and I was still miserable. I couldn't stop thinking about Lucas. I wondered what he was doing now that he didn't work at the camp. Did he get another job and decide to forget about the whole thing? Would that mean he would forget about me too?
After I was done with the day's work, I sneaked away from everyone and headed to the woods. I wanted to sit inside the treehouse for a while.

I smiled as I remembered him saying that to me. Back then, I dismissed him, but now I realize how it's kind of a cute idea. All the memories rushed back, and every word suddenly made more sense.
I climbed the little ladder and went inside the treehouse. It was more spacious than I remembered, maybe because two of us weren't sitting in it this time.
